    I’ve been a subscriber for a few months but I just wanted to thank you for the content you put out. My father passed away on a Friday after being in a bad car accident. The content I’ve seen of yours has been very informative and helpful.

    Your videos are extremely helpful, this is knowledge everyone needs to know. We will all, no exceptions, have to work with a funeral director at some point. Thanks Kari!

    The problem is that one is very(usually)distraught when making arrangements. One's nerves are not ready to shop around as if you were buying a car. That's why, in my opinion, pre arrangements are a good idea, or just leaving it up to a funeral home that has been used before and has a good reputation.

    • @KaritheMortician
      @KaritheMortician  4 роки тому

      Yes they are. SO MANY people shop around like buying a car which is such a big difference in the business from what it used to be. We have the used car salesmen of the business now too which hurts us.

    Each funeral that I was involved in I always ask for a price list. It was very helpful. Thank you for the info.

    Hi Kari😄 folks when at an arrangement conference don't be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS about items or costs you don't understand....take as much time as you need with the director until you are comfortable with your arrangements! I have signed a few funeral contracts myself and remember you are legally responsible for payment of the items on that list......also if possible, know what assets are available for you for funeral expenditures and final disposition
    costs and try to stay within your
    budget....this will help in giving your loved one the services they deserve and will ease your mind as well......thanks gang and Pre Plan when you can😄

    WOW. did you make this video for me. 🐱 My mother died in TO and was a direct crema tion. My sister heard of this and asked if we could see her but with her face made up.The FD told us Ok but she would be just as they received her from hospital. It was $80.00 about 10 years ago. We were in the hospital as she took her last breath. She looked dreadful. I didn't want to view her again but my sister almost forced me to view her looking at peace as beautiful as I remember her and viewing her that way made me feel at peace and that she was joining my father. While she was just hours from passing she talked to my dead father telling him she wasn't ready to go yet. She was telling my sister what needed to be done before selling her home. I felt my father's presents in the room calling my mother. After she passed when I was talking to my sister she said she heard and felt the same things. WOW what an experience.

    Be cognizant, as well, that cremation charges may vary if the funeral home maintains its own crematory vs. subcontracting a separate crematory to do the work. Not all funeral homes have their own crematory on premises! Also, many funeral homes do not have refrigeration, and this may be reflected in the final tally of costs, as well. ID viewings (a short period for the family to pay their last respects and say goodbye), for instance, in my state (Pennsylvania), may take place days after the death if the funeral home has refrigeration, whereas embalming may be required after 24 hours for those funeral homes without refrigeration.

    I live on the state border between MI and WI. The local crematory is a mile or so over the border in WI. A friend said there was $100 fee for having to take her loved one's body into WI for cremation. Is this just because there are charges for filing paperwork with each state, such as transit permits?

    • @KaritheMortician
      @KaritheMortician  4 роки тому

      There could be a special permit but I have not heard of one before.

    I have a question. My friend died in a plane crash and at his wake his mom told my mom she made them open the casket so she could see him even though they advised her not to. Ofcourse no one asked what she saw and It was a closed casket obviously but i was wondering if he would have been embalmed even though he wasn't going to be seen

    • @KaritheMortician
      @KaritheMortician  4 роки тому

      There are many variables of what he may have looked like and if there was much of him left.

      @@KaritheMortician i realize that but my question is would they have still have embalmed what was left even if it was just limbs or would they have considered it futile

    When my mom died, we never received a price list. We were quoted over the phone. And never were sent an invoice. The funeral director just had my sister send monthly payments.
