Many, many years ago, when I was first married in Hamburg, Germany, we lived in a flat where the bedroom was facing the courtyard in the back. In the same block was a dance school for ballroom dancing and this kind of music was standard in that school. On summer evenings the tall glass doors of the school were open to the courtyard and when our bedroom window was also open I always heard melodies just like these. How wonderful to be able to hear the old recordings. I listen to them every few days, can never get enough of that sound!

I don’t think we will ever see orchestra’s like this again. I saw Hansi several times and got to meet him once in 2006. I will never forget it, nor the great times of my grandad playing me his CDs and records. RIP Hansi, gone but not forgotten-you will not be matched. Ever.
This is one of the greatest medleys I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. Such happy and beautiful arrangements! Very few conductors could do this, and his orchestra members are each matchless instrumentalists !

He was born in the German part of Switzerland. She grew up in an orphanage in the French part of Switzerland. They met in Elmira, New York. He fell in love with her as he observed her yodeling while working in the fields. Eventually everyone settled in the Buffalo area of western New York. My father died of a heart attack when I was 17 years old. My mother, sister and I then moves to California.
