As a union mason, id like to give a few pointers from experience. Id add chicken wire inside the clay crown, to stop the clay from cracking, because this will crack like crazy. One inch of clay, then a layer a chicken wire, then another inch of clay, then chicken wire, then another layer of clay. Id also throw straw in to the clay mixture to help alleviate the cracking. You want to keep the clay wet by misting it with a hose during the first couple months you use it, so it cures without cracking. You want to butter both head joints when laying the bricks, or the mortar doesn't properly bond to both bricks, only the one you buttered. Id also also make a table, 2 columns 4 block high, with a corbel slab bridging the 2 columns, and build this stove on top of it, so it is not on the ground. You could store your fire wood between the 2 columns under the slab. You could also make clay caps, for the door, stove pipe, and cooking grates, so you could get it nice and hot, plug the holes, and use it to bake, like you would a bread/pizza oven. Adding a damper in the pipe could also help get the stove to the right temp when cooking, and with a door you could slightly prop it open for a draft, or completely shut it down like an oven.
Some good suggestions. But I must say that I've made a number of high clay content mud ovens and rocket stoves and have had little to no cracking without the need to use chicken wire. Depends mainly on how high the clay content of your soil is. And a little cracking is not a problem. Just kept it covered so too much sun didn't dry it too fast. No need to make it more complicated than necessary.
@@ritamachia3354 Yea this one had 3 cracks already, if you watch the video you can see them. One is right in front of the first cooking area, that runs all the way through. Its pretty common for the clay to crack on ovens. I'd say that is just learning thing. Anyone could do that with practice. No need for "god given talent". Imagine if everyone thought like that and then ask what is the point of schools if every one has some inherent god given talent in them? 🤔
@@DontHateThePlayer123 I agree, it's like people who were cured of cancer or other life threatening condition; and they ignore all the efforts of medical staff, nurses, doctors, etc, and attribute everything to God. It's much like folks who claim to be a self made person, ignore the support of parents, teachers, and other mentors in their lives growing up; and again attributing everything to God. Attributing this person's handiwork to God, ignores the fact they may be Hindu and believe in many Gods, may be a follower of some other non-Christian religion, or have no belief. Likewise, as you point out, the person is ignoring the development of this type of fire pit, over time through trial and error, which is one of the methodologies of science; and how such developments get passed down from generation to generation as part of culture. What I find is this sort of attributing some tallent, skill, or other attribute to God(s) is much like I have often seen here in America by Christians, when they wrongly attribute someone's morality of good dead to God. This is an attempt to attribute all that is good to God, to try and win people over to believing. I experienced this first hand after donating a kidney; and how learning why I had taken a semester off, many acquaintances of mine assumed I was a Christian when finding out I donated the kidney, and many were even angry upon finding out I am not a believer, and even insisted that I was still a good Christian, even if I didn't believe it. This White Washing of culture around the world is why, Japan saw how the countries around them were loosing not only their traditional faiths, but their culture as well; and thus chose to close their country off to the West for over 100 years. This is also why Japan is know for high quality craftsmanship, why so many of their traditions remain intact, etc. What I find sad is, many of the videos like this on social media, are part of an attempt to preserve the traditions of the people who make the videos. Sadly, not only are many such traditions and crafts disappearing, so to are many indigenous languages. Here in America, some Native American Tribes are being hit hard by Covid 19, and due to only having a few elders who still speak their native language; Covid 19 could cause these languages to disappear.
@@DontHateThePlayer123 Well this is exactly how I see it. You see it in a different light. But try doing this yourself with a few practice runs and post a video with the final product in order to validate that you simply don’t need “God Given Talent”. Good luck!

Great throw off wasn't it! Still greatly enjoyed it.
@@hughbo52 Yeah I don't mean anything by it other than how it tickled my funny bone.
This guys know their target, so the music works for them, I see pure claw and I give that stove a short life, add some straw and a bit of lime and it will work years... and pls let it dry before burning it, the water inside will boil and crawl the clay
@@harlemsar Based on previous videos, I am assuming he isn't going to use it much beyond filming...Notice most of his projects are on the same patio space.

I'm really impressed, wow very creative I need one thanks for the idea!!!!
thank you

This is the exceptional God given talent. He blessed you with your hands for all the good reasons. So happy happy to see the skills displayed in this video. Good luck with all your future projects my brother!
Good luck!
Awesome. Make it bigger, and it's a winner!
Great job indeed. Thanks a million. I will construct same way soon. Excellent skill.
