My Dwarf, about halfway through: "oh....OH, you're *not* a boxing promoter. I seem to have misunderstood what "matchmaker" means here. Well, seeing as I'm here anyway....uh....all my answers remain the same actually..."
This is the most underrated comment and I would LOVE to see a dwarf brawler show up to his date and not realise the mistake until after he batista bombed them. XD
Lol Most of my characters had quilted armor sleepwear (because warmth, and sometimes that 1 point of AC makes the difference over sleeping in your skivvies), but one of my bards (soldier background, basically a commissar) just slept in the pants of his uniform. And Indulgence, my warlock who's an illegitimate child of Graz'zt and some lesser house of nobles (we reflavored Waterdeep Noble to Remittance Man, his line of credit is conditional on him staying away, so he doesn't tarnish the family's good name with his bad reputation) lounges around in silks with Bracers of Defense and the Armor of Shadows invocation all day, and sleeps with his 20 Charisma on full display.
My Shadow Sorcerer has a skin condition in which they always have to sleep nude or else they suffer debilitations (worked with DM for backstory, my choice) and is always freezing cold, so they require to cuddle or bundle up with any other party member willing to aid them in keeping warm throughout the night. Yet they are also paranoid so they cast Mage Armor always before going to bed for extra protection. And yes, they can be very convincing to have cuddles with their 20 Charisma, just not in the way you might think.
I had a DM once make us take our armor off, and with that in mind my 1/2 elven fighter/thief/mage went to a fight in town only wearing her "Elven Kind" boots & cloak. Afterwards the city guard promptly arrested her for indecent exposure, but not for fighting in city limits.
Honestly, as a person and soldier with PTSD issues, these videos are almost therapeutic. Just placing myself as the character and answering them is very stress-relieving and helps me to straighten somethings out in my head. Hope you make many more.
@@evelynnsophia7631 I bellieve that originates from Japanese folklore and has been adopted into a lot of fantasy novels, but is not actually part of DnD's dragon lore being it's more based on the writings of Tolkien, old German dragon stories, and metals, for some reason.

Yeah, both characters I had do the Elliwyn interview perked RIGHT up at the idea of meeting her again. It's possible my bard has a slight crush... My warlock definitely has one, but he's also got a thing for Augury. And another tiefling. Multiple humans. A couple of Genasi. And a snow-leopard Tabaxi. Actually, that warlock gets around more than some bards... I never should have let him learn Greater Polycule.

Playing a lawful evil warlord paladin makes this a thousand times more hilarious. He's definitely not here by choice, but being a prince, has a part of him convinced that he needs a partner from years of his parents telling him he does.
I'm playing an evil paladin too! I tried to rationalize the situation by supposing that one of the other party members made him come. Somehow I can't imagine his edgy self coming by his own volition either
@Good Day 👀 He's probably my favorite D&D character I've ever made. He's a Conquest Paladin/Hexblade Warlock Scourge Aasimar on an eternal quest to become powerful enough to return to his home and become king. I have thought.. way too hard about his lore and some worldbuilding stuff for him
I have a fun time coming up with reasons for my less romantically inclined characters to be here. One character accidentally stumbled into the temple while drinking with a friend, and was nursing a hangover the whole interview. It was a good time.
My very shy, very virginial wizard, with an increasingly higher pitched voice: "Kinks?? Um.... no?? Who uses necromancy in the bedroom??? Why would you use necromancy in the bedroom????"
My Water Genasi Cleric when asked about that would hear that she mentioned “Shapeshifting” as one of them and laugh for an hour straight. Since his best friend and co-worker is a Changeling
I don't think my current character would go see a matchmaker voluntarily, but I could see members of her party "convincing" her to go because they thought it would be funny.
Perfect!! That's exactly the kind of creative angle I love to see - because a character who would resist seeing a matchmaker is probably the kind of character for whom this interview would be the MOST fascinating and would teach you the most about them!!

Same, my character Rowan has a five year old son from the relationship, I'm sorry but I do not think he's gonna be able to put that behind him any time soon.
Same for my recent character. One of their starting arcs is actually them slowly coming out of their main numbing grief phase as they make connections with friends (npcs) and the party. They threw themselves into their work and research after a huge argument with their mentor and spent some time with an understanding friend (npc) who eventually got them on their feet and gave them the empathy they needed (survived a similar attack). They are still navigating the fall out of some of their relationships from their initial break down, coming to terms with the idea that they don’t actually deserve their late lover’s sibling’s feud (because the incident was an accident and negates the late lover’s protective sacrifice), and that they can open up again and experience life without feeling guilt about it, even when little things hit them with thoughts of “oh he would have loved this” and other such feelings. Basically rebuilding after a life thinking “this is the one” and then suddenly losing them and reworking what their own future looks like now. Lol yeah I know, complex arc but it’s going well so far.

_Edith:_ "So, do you have any extremely powerful enemies with a grudge against you who want to use partner as a way to get back at you?" _My Warlock, who has pissed off two different demon lords, a hexblade patron, a celestial patron (the LN sort), and Tiamat herself:_ "No. I keep a pretty low profile." Honesty is one of those points he probably needs to work on.
@@lunardarkangel5237 The short version is that my character has made a hobbie of pushing his luck, and a career of rebuffing the machinations of outsiders on the Prime Material. Here's the itemized list: Hexblade Patron- He was adopted by a Hexblade Warlock from a long family line of Warlocks that used their power to protect the Prime Material from outsider influence (they had a very "fight fire with fire" attitude to the subject). My character was trained in this capacity, and eventually took on the role previously held by his adoptive father. Over time, he grew suspicious of the family's Patron (a seemingly ancient and immensely powerful entity rooted in the Shadowfell, but of uncertain ilk or origin), and grew ever moreso as he continued to dig up the scant clues available to him. He hasn't broken his pact, but he has come to an arrangement with a Solar that keeps his connection to the Hexblade Patron suppressed while he finds a more permanent solution. The Two Demon Lords- One is Orcus. No introduction necessary. I forget the name of the other. He's not quite a full-fledged Demon Lord, but has styled himself as a rival to Orcus and is attempting to steal his throne and title. One of their spats spilled over into the Prime and resulted in a major city being besieged by undead. Our party lead the charge to seal the Abyssal breach and destroy their minions. We were successful, and neither took it well. Probably didn't help that my Warlock gloated like the smug bastard he is. Tiamat- Long story short, the party ran into a particularly brutal barbarian tribe of Tiamat worshippers. Like, "they fed their prisoners to their other prisoners," brutal. My Warlock made the call to leave no survivors- young, elderly, and infirm included. When my character was later briefly dead, Tiamat was able to temporarily waylay his soul, though she lacked the jurisdiction to do much more than temporarily hold up his transit and offer threats and insults. She called my character a flea. My character responded that the concept seemed appropriate considering that he had annoyed Asmodeus' favorite lapdog to a sufficient degree to warrant an audience. She understandably took umbrage with the comment. LN Celestial- This is actually the Solar who is assisting my character with the whole "not having your soul ripped out and absorbed by a disgruntled former Patron" problem. He's also my current Patron. Neither of the two like or trust the other, and their pact works purely through the power of mutual self-interest. The Solar has the power to shield my Warlock from his previous Patron, and my Warlock just happens to have the rare mixture of skills, knowledge, and connections to handle certain business for the Solar on the Prime Material. They are both constantly looking for any source of leverage they can use against the other, and are likewise both racing to find a solution to their problems that will let them end the relationship between them- knowing full well that whoever finds an alternate solution first is going to drop the other like a sack of potatoes. So... yeah. Moral of the story: Never leave home without an Amulet of Proof Against Detection and Divination.

My goth half-elf who's only family is his mom but he hates her for not letting him store his cursed artifacts (just spooky looking crap he finds out and about) in her house: that shouldn't be a problem
Also, can we get some appreciation for how clever ginny is with her makeup work? Look at how she uses her lipstick, Rouge, etc to give her matchmaker a lively voluptuous feel that supports the characters personality.
Did this for my aromantic asexual noble bookworm Aver, who has no interest in finding a partner whatsoever and would have never gone to a matchmaker voluntarily, but his mother insisted on it. It's quite fun I have to say.
@@eveescastle5866 Yeah, that's why I love these POVs. It makes you discover your character/flesh them out. I especially like the details it makes me come up with, for example: Aver "married" his cousin Sofija when they were six and "playing adults" but both kinda just forgot about it after a while.

My character is aromantic and asexual, I imagine she came here expecting "matchmaker" to mean for friendships and was thoroughly confused when she got asked about romance.
I found out the exact same thing, though he's apparently a bit of a bibliophile. It was pretty awkward. In my mind, the rest of the party had just shoved him into the temple and he would've rolled perception to check whether they were still at the door eavesdropping and laughing.
Both I and my character new was she aroace going in (though the character doesn't have name for it), I/she gave it a shot anyway. I did find out that while she has little idea what kind of person she'd like, even in theory, she does have really strong idea about her ideal "date". Also, she now thinks Edith has some kind brain illness becuase of the third last and second last questions, after already saying she never been in a relationship, she didn't even hear the last one becuase she was out of the room, looking for help.

This one really got my PC out of the comfort zone, my tiefling wizard is a shy nerdy tsundere like character who has never had a date, spent her life learn and reading and has had people abandon her, but it was so fun to think that she could fall for someone
"What went wrong with your previous relationship?" My ex-sorcerer wizard/bard: "It is pretty hard to date someone after she tricked you and stole your powers, y'know."
My character's a bit of a vane idiot, so I like to imagine he walked in looking for matches to start a fire, and then ended up really liking all these questions about how good he is...romantically (albeit confused on how we got here.) Then he leaves and gets yelled at by the party as usual. XD
Edith: "Are you okay with long-distance, or would you expect your partner to come with you on the road?" my Wizard: "Well, 'long-distance' is only sort of limiting, for me, considering that now that you and I have spoken, I'll be able to talk in your head from anywhere in existence." my Wizard: "Which... is an ability that I promise to use responsibly." (Sending is one of my favorite spells in this entire game)
Edith: "They are all looking for that special someone!" My OC Aurora: "Yes! Because he was f*ing taken away from me by orcs! Matchmaker: "Do you sleep in pyjamas, or in the nude?"
Every D&D character ever: "I sleep in my armour."
*laughs in none of my characters have armor.*
My character, who’s armour is fused to their skin:

Lol yeah I know, complex arc but it’s going well so far.

now im interested in how that happened
@@lunardarkangel5237
The short version is that my character has made a hobbie of pushing his luck, and a career of rebuffing the machinations of outsiders on the Prime Material.
Here's the itemized list:
Hexblade Patron- He was adopted by a Hexblade Warlock from a long family line of Warlocks that used their power to protect the Prime Material from outsider influence (they had a very "fight fire with fire" attitude to the subject).

This worked shockingly well with my character 😂😂😂. Also, you should try to convince Momo O'Brien to do a colab with her tired Tavern wench from Tik Tok.
"If someone dates you, who else is in the bargain?"
My absolute himbo of a Satyr wrestler: "Well, I ain't got much in the ways of connections. Just a single mom, an adventuring party which include the princess of Makedonia and the descendant of Leonidas and Hector, an entire masked cult to the Titans who's out to get me because the gods like me, and an entire roaring crowd of Pankration fans. I'd throw in my trainer, Stelio, but ah... He's no longer with us."
4:36 “I may be wrong, but I can’t help but sense a little bit of trepidation coming off of you.”
Me, picturing my 20 year old, incredibly shy and sweet December who’s only ever been kissed once: “uh huh.... 😳”
Me, IRL: ded 😂🤣
Now I'm curious. May I ask why your character has the name December? (which I adore btw)
@@Martell364 just thought it was a nice name. Her name is December Goodwill. She’s a half-elven Fae Tomelock. She’s the only one of eight siblings to get her father’s pointed ears, something she’s very self-conscious of, since her siblings teased her about it relentlessly. She covers them with a blue, hooded cloak (see profile pic).
I loved playing her. I haven’t gotten to in two years (I’m usually the DM). But when someone says, “tell me about your D&D character,” I *gush* about December.
@@mickeysmagic89 my tiefling paladin Farron is the same. She's never had any romantic experiences and doesn't even know if she likes males or females better in that context
My new paladin is definitely the same haha. She's been raised by a sect that advises against romantic or sexual relationships, and her race's reproductive cycle doesn't involve sex, so she is very very inexperienced and somewhat in denial over how she's a closeted disaster lesbian. This video was super fun for those reasons lol
Character:“I died quite a lot. Maybe a friendly healer?“
“Special kinks? Oh, I think I like pain. This must be it, or else I'm just really bad at fighting.“
“Any enemies? Ahm... Firegiants, like all of them! Two adult dragons. A blue and a red one! At least one god, an Arcanaloth, a Lychking beneath my Monastery and I think I'm forgetting something.. yes! A weird cult of mind flayers! So nothing wild I guess.“
“Past relationships? One got ripped apart right in front of me in a battle for a cause I did not believe in. The one that got away betrayed me after my monastery turned on me.“
“Family issues? They sold me as I was six and I carry their fingers in a cursed box with me. So, nothing here.“
“Anything else? I think a big part of my soul lifes on a different plane of existence and has a family there. Never met them to be honest. This might be not important.“
“Sexually open? I hit on a cloud giant once, so yeah. You could say that.“
“You know a healer? Great!“
Stop making me fall in love with your characters!!! My gay heart can’t handle it!!! But seriously I love these POV videos so much!!! They’re so much fun and I love the creativity! I can’t wait to see Aisling speak with Edith! Love her so much! Gahhhh she is just too cute!!
Are you adventerous?
My gnome artificer: "Well you know, i do enjoy tinkering with new devices and i guess it would be interesting testing out some toys.... Purely out of academic thought of course. What were we talking about again?"
I imagine my Edge-lord sitting there chained to a chair as a torture of his... edgyness. Amazing video.
"I would find it hard to believe that nobody's tried to snap that up"
Solenaces (druid): Do you mean by a net trap tied to a tree or...?
My character Talia would definitely go to see a matchmaker, she would hope to find her love of her life.
For information Talia is a orc bard.
This is a wonderful video
An orc bard sounds like as much fun as a minotaur bard with a cowbell
One of my friends playing an orc bard that had to cast mending on his drum every time he played a song
I had a Dragonborn Bard named Talea.
She fell in love with a Dragonborn NPC named Kira. Talea was silver, and Kira was blue, one of the first sets of dice I purchased was silver and blue for this reason.
@@lexifilburn4791 thats dope plus those dice will always have a special meaning for you
My Ace Gloomstalker Ranger’s responses to a few of the questions:
Do you sleep in pajamas or in the nude?
“Um. What?”
Any dealbreakers?
“Spiders! No spiders, at all.”
Time to talk about your dating history.
“Yeah, so we may have a problem here.”
Tell me. What went wrong in your last relationship? Do you take any responsibility there?
Well if we’re talking out of a romantic context, then it would be my older sister. Fucking noble self sacrifice, I should have done something but I didn’t. I’m looking for her though.”
Sexual compatibility. Would you describe yourself as adventurous? Besides the literal adventuring.
“I- Besides the adventuring? I don’t really understand- Wait.” * shouts off to friends * “Is this some stupid Allo shit? It is?” * turns back to Edith * “No. That would be a no.”
Have your previous partners described you as good in bed?
“WHAT THE FU-!?”
Any weird kinks I should know about? Shapeshifting? Necromancy?
“You mean abilities? I mean, when it’s dark I’m entirely invisible.”
This one was so fun and Edith is such an interesting character!! I adore her accent!!! It made me smile so hard the whole time! Also your hair in the intro looks SO CUTE 10/10!!!!
Just recently found your channel and I am loving your POV videos for character development. This one popped up while I was at work so I decided to listen on my way home but I really didn't think my character would go for this sort of thing as his backstory involves looking for his love who has disappeared. I decided to play along and what started as a misunderstanding became an impromptu therapy session for my heartbroken elven monk. Keep up the good work.
"have you ever thought about raising a family?"
Uh yeah my bugbear cleric literally has a family of orphans she's kidnapped from towns and isn't planning on stopping
"You don't just date the person you date their family."
My Hexblood Wizard, with a hag mother he ran from to avoid being sacrificed in a ritual: "THE FUNNY THING ABOUT THAT IS!!"
answering this as my space ship rations and provisions secretary with the exact same voice was freakin' excellent.
like two wine aunts just vibin'
I just answered this as my newest character, a satyr bard whose technical job is that of a journalist, he writes about all the big juicy things, from local adventurers to uncovering illegal activity. He was hitting on his matchmaker quite a bit!
Feeling like my character would go along for the jokes but then get seriously into it accidentally. Gosh I love these videos! They're so interactive and varied from each other! Also the long pause for "What kind of baggage are you carrying?" was perfect
I feel like I need to do this accent for my new character. As a long Islander this is spot on! You literally sound like my best friends mom.
Me, playing a noble elf who's currently in an arranged marriage (she's still just engaged but oh well): Ah yes, a perfect video for me to roleplay to
Look, she has two hands for holding hands. Nothing wrong with that.
“Or multiple special someones, we don’t pass judgement here”
Well, you know, arranged marriages do have a bit of a... reputation for such things. 😁
Edith: *starts talking*
Me: wow *instantly smiling*
I'm 3 minutes in and she has already made my day T_T
I'm sending this to my players as homework 😍
That is a good idea!!!
How do you do, fellow dark-green s?
You are probably a wonderful DM
This one really got my PC out of the comfort zone, my tiefling wizard is a shy nerdy tsundere like character who has never had a date, spent her life learn and reading and has had people abandon her, but it was so fun to think that she could fall for someone
Tiefling wizard for the win.
"Or a few special someones, we don't pass judgements like that here!"
Oh Ginny my little poly heart you're melting it
she does the same to me. a true crime to this world that there is ONLY one of her
"What went wrong with your previous relationship?"
My ex-sorcerer wizard/bard: "It is pretty hard to date someone after she tricked you and stole your powers, y'know."
Hey at least your ex didn't try and sacrifice you to a demon lord
@@eveescastle5866yet☝️😂
My character's a bit of a vane idiot, so I like to imagine he walked in looking for matches to start a fire, and then ended up really liking all these questions about how good he is...romantically (albeit confused on how we got here.) Then he leaves and gets yelled at by the party as usual. XD
This is fantastic haha
Edith: "Are you okay with long-distance, or would you expect your partner to come with you on the road?"
my Wizard: "Well, 'long-distance' is only sort of limiting, for me, considering that now that you and I have spoken, I'll be able to talk in your head from anywhere in existence."
my Wizard: "Which... is an ability that I promise to use responsibly."
(Sending is one of my favorite spells in this entire game)
Edith: "They are all looking for that special someone!"
My OC Aurora: "Yes! Because he was f*ing taken away from me by orcs! And now there is this guy in my party who seems to be into me and I hate that I begin to like him a little and... Hey! Why are you trying to change the subject all the time!!??"
Oh noe
not
A LOVE TRIANGLE! Sorry to tell you but you're doomed.
Funny, how things go sometimes...^^
As the only woman in my group I foolishly thought: Well, they probably don't want to RP a lot of romance, but at least I'll write it into her backstory.
And then one of them comes along with a character that is almost a copy of her (missing? captured? dead?) boyfriend and decided to fall for her. What are the chances... Looking forward to him discovering that it's actually a triangle.
@@SkihaseHH I like how sometimes things just fall into place in DnD. I recently did a train murder mystery for the group I dm, and when the session started I still hadn't thought of a reason why the party would be hired to investigate the murder. So they get on the train (using fake names, since they're wanted) and one of the players introduces himself as a famous private investigator named Magnum McDickelt. Needless to say I did an internal happy dance when that happened. :D
I can't explain why but this was the most relaxing thing to listen to. Everything from the sound of the pen on the clipboard and the character's voice totally mellowed me out. It was like an audio massage. Amazing.
"Are you ready to settle down? Raise a family?"
My gay monk boy: "I've only just turned 15 😶"😂
“ are you ready to raise a family?”
My confused chaotic good necromancer: yes
I just started adventuring. I don't know if I can nurse a child through plate armor and throw sacred flames at the same time, but I guess if I practiced... I do know, however, it's going to make the Paladin AWFULLY uncomfortable.
My character: "no need for a family. My great-great-great-great-grandchildren are do fine without me adding new aunts and uncles to the mix."
OMG, I love Edith! Such a sweetheart! I cannot wait to see Aisling's part of the video! Or hey, maybe Josh's character could make an appearance sometime?
I feel like my teenage (but technically adult) half-orc rogue would first be really snarky, then blush furiously and at some point she would just cry her eyes out about the halfling boy who strung her along for so long before backstabbing her. Honestly, that would probably be good for her.
I'm wheezing, i love this character and this series of POVs you've done. She sounds like my new jersey italian aunt and I just can't get over how wonderful this is. you're awesome, ginny
Matchmaker: Do you have any extremely powerful enemies with a grudge against you, who might want to use your partner as a way to get back at you?
My Tabaxi Sorceress, slowly raising a paw to cover the bite mark on her neck: It's... kind of the reason I stay quiet about my love life.
I allways have a lot of fun doing this with my character, every time she asks a question I find myself having to pause the video so that I can go deep into my character's psyche before I give a answer, which has helped me understand my character a lot. Thank you for doing this and keep up the good work.
I have been playing for over 20 years, from ad&d to 5th edition, with deadlands, champions and everything in between. The joy and flair you bring to the DnD space is absolutely wonderful. You are incredibly talented and keep up the great work!!
My characters who are always "too old for this shit" regardless of age:
._.
That said I love all of these. Lol
These are so great! Now I'm inspired to try a POV: A Cellmate meets you on the first day in the Jail, and POV: A Tattoo Consultation. You're the best Ginny D!
My pixie barbarian would have a lot to say about the logistics of "sexual compatibility" when you're 1'3" but she needs a therapist more than a matchmaker
@@Grey_Shard I like characters who defy expectations, other concepts I'm working on but haven't gotten to play yet include a Drow light cleric fascinated by the sun and a Succubus who really wants nothing to do with all that demon business and refuses to use her mind control abilities
I've always been intrigued with a pixie etc PC, with how that much of a size difference would come up with the party and stuff.
@@Grey_Shard *Fizban pops up* "Did anyone says artificer?" "Oh, so you want to traverse the logistics of sexual encounters? I might have just the thing. Drink this." *hands a potion* ..... "Ooopps, that was the firebreath one, just point to the fireplace will you." *Rummages throught inventory* "You haven't considered toys have you? I think i could tinker out some sizeable things for you, otherwise hmmm, oh yes!!" *pulls out metal wand with knobs and buttons* *Didn't think i would get to use this, should if my calculations are right expand your size to more... fitting encounters, just need to adjust the parameters, calculate the energy transference, carry the four.. or was it five? Nevermind, just hold still and... where did you go?"
This is just genius. The creativity of the concept before, the application to this one in particular. The problem solving, the knowledge, the adjusting for the game. You even set up a set. I'm over 50 and have been a professional attractions actor, and I think you could teach me something about creativity. This is the one that made me subscribe. I don't care how old you are, teach me senpai.
Her: what went wrong in your last relationship
Me: Well you see, my character's wild magic went wild and burnt down her grandmas cottage.... With her grandma inside...
Her (different words): that's rough buddy.
My bardbarian: She was hung by my enemies.
Do you have any enemies who would hurt your partner: Not anymore.
My bard: she was an enemy spy who used me to get information on my home. It’s my fault my home is gone
@@fearthepiggaming2998 I had the same answer, “ not any more, wait, does the tarrasque count? I have a feeling he still had hard feelings about getting beaten by a 18 year old “ ~ not exactly what happened, but close enough to the truth that the kings heralds could claim artistic liberty if they were accused of lying, and she never felt like correcting them ~
My tiefling: My ex girlfriend turned out to be crazy and tried to sacrifice me to a demon lord and I had to kill her.
@@eveescastle5866 that’s rough buddy
Did this with one of my favorite characters: chatwood: a swarmkeeper ranger who is a ratkin (a homebrew race that are humanoid rats loosely based of the skaven). Was fun! Made me laugh when you complimented his looks cause he’s very diseased and covered in pustules cause of a magical disease. This was fun!
I cannot wait till the Aisling cut is released of this!
"Do you have any powerful enemies with a grudge against you that would use your partner against you?"
My undead warlock with a sick and cruel ironic sense of humor: The ones who are alive are in no position to do anything and even if they could they're too traumatized, and half of the "Dead" ones are too preoccupied with surviving the unique hells I put them in.
My genie couldn’t stop staring at the wrist cuffs 😂
I love these so, so much! Thank you for all of them. And this one was hilarious for my very awkward tiefling cleric. I played it as her seeking advice on how to approach the other PC she has a crush on.
