  • In Episode 60 of The Thing with Two Heads, after a huge response from our first episode on the subject (Episode 52) we dive back into the behind the scenes world of celebrity bookings for comic-con's and conventions. Myself (Sean Clark of Convention All Stars) and 3 other personal appearance agents, Dominic Mancini of Full Empire Promotions, Rick Henriques of Iconic Ink Management and Fred Hernandez of Prime Time Appearances discuss what it is we do and the challenges that come with it.

      definitely, i remember seeing him behind closed doors way back in 2013 at my local con, i didnt know he did this stuff then, only knew him as the "horror hallowed grounds" guy so i was excited that i might see a both to meet him. turns out there were a few Walking Dead people there so guessing it was just business but yeah, it be cool to meet him!

    This should be required viewing for any con fan. I've worked for conventions for almost 20 years now. Had the pleasure of working with Sean and Dom (2 of the best in the business) and thank all 4 of you for doing a part 2. You are correct a guest cancels and fans scream "scam!" Or "bait and switch!" But don't realize cancelations hurt EVERYONE.
    Thanks again guys!

    Just wrapped up working Frightmare this weekend and wanted to thank both you and Dominic for all the kindness and professionalism you and your crews have always shown to me and my team.
    I'm only three years into working this event, but these videos already resonate on a lot of levels. At the end of the day, we want to provide everyone involved (guests, attendees, agents, assistants, our staff, and even the staff and other guests at the hotels/venues we stay at) with the best experience possible. But the level of behind-the-scenes complexity involved is something that deserves a documentary in and of itself. I really appreciate you enlightening the fans of these events on just how difficult pulling off these conventions can be. I look forward to seeing part three in the future, and the return of you both to Frightmare.

    The fact that all of you can be so professional and have a level of awareness of allowing the giddiness of working with people you grew up watching seep through the pours shows just how much respect and passion you have for what you do. That's what makes this show, particularly episodes like this, so fascinating to listen to. Also props to breaking out the Taylor Swift guitar straight outta left field!

    Hey Sean. It was great to finally meet u and Chris at Monsterpalooza this past weekend. I was the one who gave you the origami peacock when you were at Leah Voysey's booth.
    I just found out recently that Felissa is doing the sleepaway camp ending scene photo op AGAIN at smoky mountain terror this weekend. Sounds like it's gonna be a common thing at other conventions from now on.

    i'm newish to this "watching youtube" thing, only had an account for about 4 years. i dont like watching videos on my phone or computer but someone gifted me a Roku, saw youtube was on there so i signed up and now i watch stuff pretty much daily. i discovered Sean early on and have been following since. i've been going to cons since 2013 and mostly here in canada (went to flashback chicago once in 2019 which was awesome). so i LOVED both parts of these videos, loved hearing how it all works. more like this would be awesome!! but i gotta say hearing the stories from before "my time" and hearing how much cheaper it was...damn! lol i mean im in canada and our dollar sucks so hearing 80$ being a lot for a photo or autograph made me realize just how bad we have it here :P i think 80$ is cheap these days.....but hey, doesnt stop me from attending these things and going nuts on photo ops (i'm newer to autographs as i only did 1 or 2 a show until i attended my first Niagara Falls Comic Con) .... but yeah prices might be nuts sometimes but nobody forces us to attend or pay.... we do it because we want to we love it and granted, i think i'm in a smaller percentage that gets many, many done per show but yeah..... i've been obsessed with movies and tv since i was a little kid and dreamed of meeting people but being in canada i knew i never would. so when i discovered the whole convention / photo op word...i was hooked for life! anyway sorry for the long ramble. all that to say i love hearing about this sorta stuff and makes me appreciate more. i've never been one to complain when people cancel etc.. as i realized how it worked to some degree but thanks for the deeper education guys! i'm attending my 3rd Niagara Falls next week and i see a number of Sean and the other guys clients will be there so thats cool...maybe i'll run into Sean or the other guys too (if they are attending) :)

      I'm happy for her. I really am but in the long run was it worth it? That will be the big question. I had another promoter tell me she pitched the idea to him and he gave it a hard pass and personally as a friend advised her against doing it anywhere. She chose to not take that advice. Then she found another place that would do it.

Your conversation about announcing talent appearing at conventions reminds me of my employment with my family’s software business and having to tell people that I can’t discuss clients due to an NDA. My internet was being spotty yesterday when I commented so I don't think it ever posted but I just wanted to say I loved this podcast! It's fun and insightful to hear about some of the bts of conventions that I've been attending for a little over ten years now. I remember going to my first convention and it literally changed my life in the way of just always having something to look forward to each year and the atmosphere of being in a place with people that just love what you love, it's awesome!
    Honestly, kinda embarrassing to admit probably, but I've seen you at almost every con I've been to like spooky empire, spookala, galaxy con, monster mania, and I thought you were a guest or getting bts footage until someone tagged you in a post on insta and I was like OH! And I'll happily take you "to sean" memoribilia when... yknow ☠, if i'm still around. Haha no but srsly I'm glad I found this channel and excited to watch your old podcasts. 2:13.41// Part of what Fred is saying is why i joined / worked with Groups that put on events (from dances to gatherings to sporting events).
    i wanted to bring people together and thru that time they would have a Happening of a Good Time, even though it may have been short.
    I have never been a Doctor, but working (putting on) events was one way to bring some happiness to a mentally challenged world.
    Kids had only a TV / big screen / stage to escape to from their enslavement - whether to an adult demanding allegiance to a set of words from some old book, or to some old cult(ure). escaping from the darker reality many kids, now adults, remember their enslavements. and i do not speak of their fear to attend a school that might have a shooting event. it is (was) usually the home that kids wanted to escape from. // just sharing, not being critical and i still see no tears, only great drops of intel and experience.

      is this an american con thing or a recent thing? i'm in canada and only attended one US con, the rest have all been local but i've never witnessed that, the autograph prices seem to always be for either an 8x10 at their table or anything you bring. i've only ever had 8x10s or 11x14s signed personally but price never changed regardless of which i got signed. and i've seen fans in front of me in lines get bigger items signed and never seemed like it was an more. maybe i've just been lucky as i've only attended 4 different cons as far as the shows themselves (i've attended 15-19 different times)...so maybe those 4 companies dont ask more?

The two panels I watched were fun (Twilight & Kathryn Newton). Went into the autograph room and seriously it was depressing for most guests. I went on Saturday and there was not a line for anyone but the headliners. I felt bad for all the other celebrities. FYI I really appreciated your video as I always wondered how cons work. I started going in the early 90s to Fangoria :) How celebrities act at their booth or interact with fans does matter - I had walked past Irone Singleton and had never thought about meeting him but he was so cool with his fans - I spent the money and he was lovely!

I didn't hear much from the Night people about it. If they did they certainly didn't tell me. I thought it was something she normally did for photo ops. With that being said, seeing the types of fans that came to her table, I got why this is something she'd do. Looks like she has a very specific type of fan. Also she appeared to be super sweet and kind to everyone. So much so it seemed like she knew a lot of them.

    Apparently Sean, Neve canceled Galaxy Con that was scheduled for July. But yet some of the convention sites like we Roster Con hasn't gotten the hint. Apparently Scream 7 will be filming this summer and she won't make it to July's event.

    • @malfuncsean

      Actually she had to cancel for another reason but Scream 7 will be tentatively filming in September & October.

    • @billymoore7182
      @billymoore7182 Місяць тому

      Must be she has another project then. But reports have been saying the moving is filming in the summer. And it's been backed up by other sources. So to cast in the the spring and film in the fall makes no sense to me, unless she's filming something else during the summer. I recently found out that there's a private signing taking place July 28. So she canceled Galaxy Con to attend another con? I'm confused. Why did she cancel? If that's the case, why did make the announcement in the spring? That's too early if you ask me. She should have made the announcement in late summer. If you're gonna be filming in the fall, spring should not be the time to let us know. She doesn't do that with her other projects. So why is this one any different? She hasn't said anything of her return to The Lincoln Lawyer season 3. That should have been her first announcement. Not Scream 7. She's a great actor but a terrible promoter. Just saying.

    • @billymoore7182
      @billymoore7182 Місяць тому

      The Part where I asked Why did she cancel? Don't answer that. That's none of my business. I just find it odd that she's announcing herself for a project in the spring that apparently starts filming in the fall but yet hasn't said anything about a project she is or has already filmed. She is a terrible promoter. I do mean that. But she's a great actor.
