It really is that easy. Just take your time and make sure you get all the screws and clips. Don't force it. Also, if you have the parking sensors or the headlight washers, you'll have to get those as well.
Watch out if you have headlight washer or fog lights. I busted my headlight washer taking off my bumper. Was a cheap fix though 20 bucks. I figured I did not have them since they never worked.
This is useful, I thoguth I needed to take headlights out too and my one parking sensor pushed in so I just put double sided tape for now, Hoepfully it holds but if not I’ll have to take the bumper off slightly so I can reach my hand in and get it on better
I’m actually doing an m sport bumper conversion and I’ve noticed mine has a lower reinforcement impact bar but m235i/m240i or other m sport models don’t have it. It’s right in front of the intercooler I’m wondering if I need to take this off or if I have it because it’s a convertible
Almost all convertibles have extra bracing throughout to make up for the lack of structural rigidity offered by full bodied vehicle. I'm not sure if there is a separate part # for an msport bumoer without looking it up.
Yes, I just had mine off last night of my F23 m235i convertible. A lot of extra braces and things I run into when working on my car compared to the F22 coupe videos I watch
Collin Rausch I put it back on it was just a couple bolts and you never know if you’ll need it, also support the cross member in front of radiator/intercooler
I don't know how many "Labor Hours" you'd be charged for but it would take at least 3 hours. Keep in mind, added in that job is the adjustment of the headlight beams after the new housings are installed.
Remove all of the fasteners that hold the the bumper on but dont pull the bumper completely off the car yet. The bumper will Flex enough for you to reach in and detach the parking sensors from underneath the car. Then you should be able to do and washer hoses from the top or the side.
I've never tried it. It should be fairly simple to reach the bolts that attach the headlight with the bumper off. Are you replacing the entire headlight?
@@radiomaster200 you have the headlight washers amd parking sensors. That makes a good point. Something I should point out in the video that my car doesn't have these features. I've been waiting to remake this video and that gives me a good reason.
@@TheWrenchLab I managed to take it off enough to swap kidney grills. Turns out you can disconnect a pipe on each side for the headlight washers and the sensor seem to be attached to the bumper.
I still haven't gotten it repainted 😤😭 I do have a hook up through a friend here, just haven't gotten around to it. I wanna do a protective film after the paint which is more $$ than i wanna spend. Soooo it's not really a priority. As far as I know from asking around, the white BMW used is difficult to match after it's been on the car for a while. Finding a proper shop is vital if you want it to look good. From what I've heard, anywhere from $800 to $1400 for a fill of the holes and repaint. I would try to get the shop to GUARANTEE IN WRITING that it'll match or they will fix it.
Hey, I just got a brand new bumper painted. The OEM bumper cost $800, and the paint work cost $900. This is pretty expensive, but for paint jobs specifically, you definitely get what you pay for. Cheaper paint options may not color match correctly, and may not give you a good clear coat (learned this the hard way after experiencing clear coat damage after normal use and washing).
Short answer, no. I do recall seeing a body kit that was an M2 replica for the M235 though. But it's probably fiberglass... 🤮 Long answer. You'd have to get the fenders and some of the under bits that attach the bumper to the car on the bottom. But, I'm not positive everything will line upon the femders and such. If you donsome digging on the 2addicts forum I think you could find that out and if someone makes a body kit. I just don't have time right now to research it quickly. One thing to note, which not a lot of people know. The M235i has a smaller frontal area and a lower drag coefficient so it will take less HP to push it through the air than the M2. Take my car for example. With just a charge pipe and a JB4 running map 1 and ran a 12.80@106 in the 1/4 mile. $550 worth of mods to run the same 1/4 mile with far less HP than the M2 because of the lower drag coefficient. M235I for the win! I was thinking about making a video about this...
Ahh.. ok! Thanks for your long answer, Mikey. I am currently selling my R8, meanwhile I'm looking for my next daily driver. Really like the design of the front bumper of the M2 but the M235i is a lot of car for your money, especially with a JB4 tune as you said. Also the M2 is really expensive in the Netherlands because of all the taxes so that makes the M235i even more interesting. Those are really good figures! Didn't know that the M235 has a lower drag coefficient. You should make a video about it, interesting stuff mate :). Ps. do you have Instagram for your car?
“Comes right off” - 5 hours later, it’s all back together lmao. Thank you for the video, you made it sound too easy

IThinkItsEvan’s UA-cam you think it’s fine if I take it off? Wasn’t sure if it was for stability or something important

Thanks for helping out the community! 👏
Did you also have a wiper fluid line and actuator on your bumper? My m235i had little sauirtters in the bumper but I’ve never seen them in action
No, I don't have the headlight washers. I've had issues with my washer fluid squirters/pump as well, just never got around to investigating.
I need to change my headlight units. How much time would a mechanic take to the do the install?
I don't know how many "Labor Hours" you'd be charged for but it would take at least 3 hours. Keep in mind, added in that job is the adjustment of the headlight beams after the new housings are installed.
How would the removal be different if I have headlight washers or parking sensors?
Remove all of the fasteners that hold the the bumper on but dont pull the bumper completely off the car yet. The bumper will Flex enough for you to reach in and detach the parking sensors from underneath the car. Then you should be able to do and washer hoses from the top or the side.
Is it easy to pull off the headlight when you have the bumper off?

With Mikey! I’m going to be modifying it so I need to pull them off to open them!
Awesome! I'd love to see the end result! I did that to my evo years ago. Painted the inside gloss black and it looked sick!
With Mikey! Hopefully they are done this weekend!
Thanks man that really helped
That's why I do this! Thanks for checking out my channel. 👍
so much help thank you
You're very welcome! 🤙
Did u need to take off the wheel to remove the render liner? I cannot find a way to remove it. The wheel gets on the way
Removing the wheels gives you more room to maneuver but not completely necessary.
@@TheWrenchLab I dont think this any works for me, looks like I have something that sprays the headlight and sensors

Just to make it easiler for you, you done need to take out the bit he took out behind the whell, i forgot what its called
Hey Mikey, Im interested in getting mine repainted as well. Is it ok to ask around how much it will cost? Thanks!

Does the M2 bumper fit on the M235i?

RaffyUkon there is replica m2 bumpers that are custom fitted for the m235i now a days
