I just bought this bike -- your video is great for a beginner on it. I hope to ride it over the next few days. Thanks for posting your video experience with it.
I did a afternoon on q14 route along the Thames on Saturday. A mix of 15 mph and 12pm., I managed to get 25 miles out of the battery. The 90 miles range advertised I will never achieve as I am 95kg and 10pm will be too slow for my liking. I think I can get 50 miles range if I only use assist level 1 but I had way too much fun with level 3
I just bought this bike today (it says colorway as the brand but looks to be the same thing). I am excited to get it today, set it up, and take it with me camping this weekend as I use a truck tent and leave the vehicle behind to go exploring
I bought this BK6 3 weeks ago to use purely off road in Norfolk. I have spent this time preparing the Ebike. First added an electronic horn with built in alarm. Lubricated the chain for off road use with dry lube. Inflated the tyres to 40psi. Because some people have experienced the cheap pedals falling apart, I ordered from Japan well renowned metal folding pedals MKS FD-7 £45. These took 2 weeks to arrive and are now fitted. I removed the soft unit from the carrier so I can attach a bag.Yes the ebike is heavy 27.5kg. To fit the bike in my hatchback without folding the rear seats I had remove the saddle, this weighs1.5kg. Next I remove the battery 3kg. Last I remove the front wheel 3.5kg. Now weighs 19.5kg. Waiting now for dry weather.
I do want to change the pedals so thanks for the tip. I am still 2 minds about the folding part, if I travel a lot in the car then this bike is the best and most important legal. I am a professional and breaking the law means putting my job in jeopardy. However I am not used to bike with on top frame and riding this in the wood is fun and effortless but I miss standing up to get through bumpy terrain. I will keep this for this summer and hope we have a lot of dry and sunny weekends. We love Norfolk, been there twice in the past few years, did the tourist driving boat thing at the river. Loved it 😍
There is nothing illegal about this ebike. You can ride it on UK roads as it is only a 250 watt motor. It is restricted to 25kph (15.5 mph). If the motor is 350w or bigger, you must legally register with DVLA for road use.
@@philkfoto We are allowed a 500W motor here in B.C. Can. Why does it say, HITWAY BK6M 750W 14AH 48V, in the specs., you say it's only 250w? Is 750W a false claim!
I cannot say what motor they use in different region but to qualifying as road legal they may just electronic limit the motor and mark it is 250w. By law it is not the motor needs to be 250w it is maximum output not exceeding 250w. I could be wrong tho, I may tinker the menu when I do off road to increase the speed limit of 15mph
Thanks for the video, I don't know if you can help me. I lent my hitway bk6 bike to a friend, without my consent he removed the speed limit of 25 km/h. the bike now goes 32 km/h. Can you tell me how we reset the limit to 25 km/h? The P08 is 25km/h, but the bike still goes 32km/h. He told me that maybe it's with a combination with the brakes. But he doesn't know anymore. Thanking you. best regards
I was just brought a Hitway BK6, but the menu did not teach me how to set the display screen. Can any person advise and teach me. I can see the P1 to P7 at the screen , but don't feel it work electric when I ride on it.
There is only 3 settings, assist off, level 1-2 and 3. If you see P1 to P7 that means you start messing with settings which was not design for end user who don't know the hidden menu. Search S866 and you will find lots of video on setting the menu system. Hope you get it working again.
Hey Ben, it does have a throttle on the right inner handle bar. A great Ebike for the price. Had to change the pedals to proper steel ones cause the plastic ones that come with this bike broke after a while.
No throttle as it does not comply with E-bike rules in the UK. I did get a throttle and plug in to test and it is plug and play working. However, not all brands of throttle works and also the rubber handle is near impossible to take off to make way for the throttle switch
@@BCreviews Hi Ben, great review as always, could I bother you to tell me where you got the throttle for the bike, as yourself said, not all throttles are compatible. Thank you.
Can’t answer that for now as I only used it for a few times. Will be keeping this for a while so will update in due course. I don’t trust BMS in these batteries so I will never run it until battery runs out.
Mine come with some charge and at least enough to start and check everything is working etc. check if the battery is fitted correctly, there was once I can’t start the bike and panic, it was battery not inserted all the way and the pin is not connected. Hope you get it sorted
Sorry bro, I’m not sure if you’ve answered this. But does the bike have a throttle control that you twist to increase the speed like a on typical motorcycle?
No, in the Uk that will be deemed illegal as it will need registration and insurance. I managed to get a throttle for around £20 which you plug into the spare port, for off road use of course 👍
@BCreviews You can have a throttle as long as it doesn't assist you to more than 15.5 mph in the uk.When it hits that speed it cuts off. You can have a throttle as well that assists you to 4mph which is ok to just assist you to get going.
Not legal in the uk then. You can have a throttle in the uk as long as the motor cuts off at 15.5 mph. It doesn't matter if it's 250 watts it has to cut the motor off at 15.5 mph. So you doing 20 or 25 mph is not legal.
@Robyx18 they approached me to do a review but I want to remain impartial and they ghosted me :) which ever brand you choose a 20” fat tyre will be good for city and pavement etc The more bike they sell the more problem you will read online and I believe hitway sell more bike in eu and us etc touch wood I have no problem with mine. Does it have power lvl or only speed lvl gears? What I mean is does it just go 25kmh on setting 3 no matter how fast you pedal or do the lvls do different power like 1 is 150w and 2 is 200w and 3 is 250w?
The three power settings determine the speeds. Level 1 is slow, Level 2 is faster, and Level 3 is max speed of approx 15 mph unless you go into the settlings and increase the max speed. Then bike should go 19-20 mph on Level 3. I also own other ebikes and they are faster...Ariel rider, electric xp 2.0, aostirmotor a20. They range in speeds from 25 mph to 32 mph. Generally, using pedals with the throttle should add more speed.
To be fair I do t think this frame is design for high speed, too much flex for the frame. Love the folding as now I can fit my kids bike(non fold) and the BK6 next to it. Honda jazz is amazing with the seat folded

Hard to say as I do a mix of assist level so far. Really have to stick to just one level and ride until empty. My guess would be level 3 with no effort on pedal around 15-20 miles. Level 2 20-30 miles and level 1 30-40 miles.
