Call the passport office support line and tell them you have a travel plan and need passport on urgent basis. Tell them you will book the tickets after you get the passport. You will receive the passport early.

I met some fellow Indians in US and they were so exited and happy just because they were in US. Once I showed my US passport to native citizen and he was like Is there a word S written on my face. What is so special about it as 52% of US citizens do not have passport and on the other hand look at us. I really do not know what to say.
It is because US has everything one can ask for except cultural and historical stuff. It has desert (AZ, New Mexico, Utah), mountains (Rockies - Colorado), plains (IN), warm ocean and beaches (Florida), cold water/ocean (Alaska), mix of mountains and valleys (VA, MD, NC, SC). If you like cold you have east coast, if you like moderate weather, California. In Winters, if you are fed up of snow then book a flight to Florida. I lived 10 years of my life in US, and travelled to Europe once as my cousin asked. Except maybe cuisine, language and history, in terms of nature and scenery, there was nothing in Europe that US didnt had. I never applied for any other visa after that when I lived in the US. I moved to Canada, and the first thing I did was to apply for US B1/B2 visa. As unlike US, there is not much geographical variation in Canada. No deserts, in January entire country is cold or you have damp and wet places like Vancouver. That's why lot of Canadians have passport to run away to other destinations. Same goes for Indians, foreign vacation or better opportunities, be it money or quality of life (clean air/water).
