They need the glow sticks to be happy. Selling dumb trinkets to large crowds of people who have been conditioned to fit in with the crowd is a smart thing.
The music in Ys Origin (and the gameplay of course) is what made me appreciate Ys. My only previous experience was Ys III on SNES which I hated, so I ignored the series until I saw Ys Origin in a store. It was pretty cheap and I wanted something on my Switch. It was that shitty Ys series but it looked like this one was something along the lines of Zelda and I figured it would be at least okay... Oh yeah, it was not really like Zelda but it was better than okay. I played through Ys III again, this time for Turbo CD (the music!!! how could you play Ys on something without CD quality music?) and I love that one now too.

If you like Ys Origin, I think you'd also like Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which is Ys 3 but plays like Origin
