This week I watched the 2022 film "The Menu" and we MUST be on a roll this year because I loved it... Again 🤣 But it has all the rewatch capability and I just thought it was a really well made movie. Thank you to all that recommended it, feel free to comment more requests - that's mostly where I'm getting reaction ideas currently!

13:01 I love that in this scene he is serving them the tea, both literally and figuratively
Imo this movie was a commentary of the relation between Service Industry vs Customers, when Elsa says they sleep in the island giving their entire life to make delicious, it totally felt facetiously sarcastic. How chef feels, the joy of cooking drained, literally the feeling one gets after years of working restaurants. The yes Chef, definitely the feeling of being commanded in restaurants. The whole talk in chefs office about those who give and take, It was a perfect movie for someone that has worked service industry.
i couldn’t agree MORE! i’ve watched it a few times now as to catch the tone and things i didn’t see before better and just like you said - the relation between service industry workers and customers was so well showcased IN the sarcasm and little comments that later showed to mean so much. as someone herself that’s worked in customer service i really appreciated what the movie said about trying to constantly satisfy the customer and what it takes from you as a person. well said!
The whole cast was great. But Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, Hong Chau (who had a real breakout year) and Nicholas Hoult elevated what could have been a pretty average bit of on-the-nose social commentary into a true dark art.
i 1000000% agree, they made it along with the dynamic between all the characters 👏🏽👏🏽
The moral of this movie is one - Cheeseburger is life 🍔

The actor was going to be Daniel radcliffe playing himself and the bad movie was going to be the movie Frankenstein he was in but he couldnt do it and john leguizamo ended up filling it. That is 100% true. It would have been cool to see harry and voldemort togeather again.
I don’t need realism in movies but that kind of breaks the reality a little bit. If Daniel exists, Ralph would too, so how could we explain that Ralph fiennes and chef just look identical? Idk, I’m glad they went with leguizamo
Since we know Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t die like this, that might have taken people out of the movie.
This movie made me go make some smash Burgers, except if I had to make it again I would caramelize the onions ahead of the smash w a bit of sugar. 🤣
This movie became my favorite of all time and after working in the food industry, this movie was just chef's kiss for a dark comedy based around the industry. 🙂

4:18 - so apparently there are people who actually can not notice subtitles? I wish I could. Every time I'm forced to watch anything with subtitles I have to actively try to not only read them but also watch an actual picture.
The only thing that bothers me about this movie is the green screen for the windows. You can’t notice it most of the time but when you do you can’t unsee it

Most despicable order IMO
1. Rich pedo dad dude. Couldn’t die fast enough.
2. Dude-bros table (all three). If one (or three) can be so entitled as to deserve death, these dudes are as close as it gets. Yes, I hate them way more than Tyler or Chef and staff.
3. Chef and staff.
4. Tyler. Tyler is an obvious psychopath, so in a way he really can’t help how horrible he is.
5. Tie-Critic and protege “yes-man” guy. Making ruining lives a sport…ugh.
6. Leguizamo- yeah, he’s a douche nugget, but a couple of bad movies is no reason to kill him.
7. Leguizamo’s secretary. She’s just rich, kinda petty.
8. Rich pedo’s wife. Also just rich, being cheated on with Erin/Margot , and STILL waves Erin/Margot out the door when she looks back at her. Pretty magnanimous actually.
