- Road to the 2009 Mr. Olympia: Kai Greene Trains Chest
2009 mr olympia, phil heath training, kai greene training, kai greene mr olympia, bodybuilding kia greene, ronnie coleman, dexter jackson 2009, battle for mr olympia 2009
"as you can see right now, hes warming up with 3 plates" must be nice
One of my favorite training sessions to watch.I remember back in the day I would watch this video everytime I'll train chest.
This man deserves to be Mr. Olympia. He's been robbed too many times. I admire the dedication. Keep it up Kai!
congrats to Kai Greene on the Arnold Classic win!...a very nice accomplishment and a very nice speech
this guy is destined to win a mr. o. i never seen anybody dedicate their life so much for something they love. i saw one vid of where he lives and it is nothing compared to cutlers home. he is livinng basically off of BB. he is an inspiration to all BB and regular people striving to reach their goals in life.
oh yeah, BTW. gr8 vid.
I agree as well. His form is impressive. Even the ability he has to make it so easy. 100% Fan.
I love how he maintains a strict form with 5 plates, awesome stuff right here
"death grip" actually hits your chest harder because it helps take your triceps out of the press. Even with small hands it's easy to control the bar with that grip. Try it and you are guaranteed to feel it in your chest more.
Not to many bodybuilders are benching heavy like this anymore
3:05 "getting ready for the heavy resistance" with 3 plates on each side. Your fucking kidding me.......
The greatest and realest BB for me !
Kai has been around for a long time in the natural arena since a young age. He cleaned house there and now he's banging in out with the pros. It's just to bad he doesn't fit the criteria of a Mr. Oylmpia. He is the best out there, all around. Just getting a bum rap. Shoudl've been more carefull what he did outside of bb world. Much respect ... your awesome bud!
He has a good shot at winning the Mr. Olympia this year.
probably the most badass bench session ever
the dropset starting at 500lbs was insane. 500lbs raw is insane.
love how his warm up set on the bench is my 1 rep max
Love how the bar bends at 6:41.
this guy is one of my favorites this win this year the olympia
the grip where you dont enclose the bar with your thumb is called "suicide grip". If you dont have complete control over the barbell using that grip, it might fall out of your hands pouncing down on your throat, killing you. Some people feel that they can get a better contraction and a cleaner movement pattern by using that grip. The other grip is just a normal grip
kai is great. hes an inspiration.
be funny if at 1:49, he's like "okey doke... done."
I agree,no doubt.He will always be a great bodybuilder
If you were a huge fan you'd know how poor he was. Back then, it really was the best option for him because he really needed the money to compete.
Even now he refuses to buy a car and chooses to live in the projects because he's the most humble guy you'll ever know.
"As you can see he's warming up with 3 plates."
hahaha no big deal.... LOL
I like the way Kai and his partner benches. Good stuff.
Warming up with 3 plats thats just sick..can u imagine the amount of stress in ur chess insane!!
Talks slow for a guy who thinks fast. ;) Obviously an intelligent guy, entertaining too, when posing and when talking. Gotta love this guy. Together with Phil the future of BB.
You are a serious lifter when you dont clamp 4 or 5 plates. RESPECT
This man is great.
Kai and Phil are both Beast. Phil must be in his 50s and he is lifting 315. Damn!
"Kai Greene is tryna bring up his CHEEEEST for the Olympia.."
My new favorite
bodybuilding is mostly about the focus of you mind in the exact muscle you working out and convincing yourself, that you can push a lot more that u just do... the game of your psychic
mechanics combined with muscle memorie and muscles = strength
stronger than some powerlifters in his weight. respect!
Un entrainement des pecs vraiment propre,un super vidéo.
Kai greene j'espère Mister olympia tout prochainement.
315 for 10 reps, made it look like he was warming up with the bar
LOL 9:41 " If I'm taking my, u kno, METHYLBURN, u know I'm gon do dat!"
Quick comment here, Kai Greene is 8% body fat if you payed any attention to his mentor in the video, he's 308lbs of hard, cut, toned and well earned muscles, he has a bulging six pack with water ripples at 308lbs, most people who aren't body builders have a cheeseburger looking gut, Kai Greene is a committed individual who is one of the best in his sport, who cares if he takes supplements ?
Now thats what i call a Chest Workout!!!
Kai goes to the same gym that I do in Brooklyn. Hopefully he'll win the Mr. Olympia. He looks much bigger in person.
since when is 495 for reps weak?
the drop set was awesome.
@Cooiepwns its an isolation technique many bodybuilders use, its supposed to take the stress off of the forearms im pretty sure to help isolate the chest more, dangerous but badass at the same time
correct, so many people mis-use steroids and end up taking them at the wrong time, some people like kai greene do things right and for reward they get what they want, in this case bb shows
Nothing beats the basics!
fair enough, thats your opinion and I respect that.
Man this dude is a fucking powerhouse!
Kai is a beast.
i don't really aspire to look like a pro body builder and kai's legs got a little distorted imo; but of the pros I watch, kai has to be one of the nicest and most thoughtful.
World record, in saying "you know" the most number of times in a UA-cam video.
nothing beats the basice the most right thing i ever heard what ever machines relised will not beats the basics thats 100 % right
Kai does have a tremendous build and is very powerful.
Oscar still has it for his age. Not keeping up with Kai though, he's no joke.
Kai is awesome
kai greene, evan centopani, trey brewer, roelly winklaar...the future
he is gonna shock alot of people this year, i guarentee everyone he will get alot of ooooohs and arrrrrrrs when he hits those back poses come the olympia!
@ls400ridin
he keeps his ego in check too unlike other body builders. much respect for kai
kai has to be traini ng like this if he comes to mr o in 2019
He's so cool! Him and Phil Heath...
Am I the only 1 who was like:"Wrap that thump around the bar"?
Dam kai spots oscar when he benches 315 pretty sick
i've got Kai winning the Olympia on saturday for sure
That seems very accurate, this is probably a weight in which he can perform each rep with incredible muscle control but is actually not as heavy as he can lift, but still heavy enough to make him work.
you make a lot of sense thank you
10lbs of steak and fish a day... mans a beast ! much respect
tiphu, I agree with you. Also, you have to understand that these guys COULD NEVER EVER get to this level NATURAL - NO WAY.
thats a good spotter, all too often you see spotters letting the bar stop... that what messes up muscle stimulation and puts you into unecessary failure... the bar should keep moving so the chest keeps getting stimulated. when the bar stops half way and your fighting it that does not help with growth at all and messes your SET up.
@MASKOAA I will never eat a banana again....thx you for that lol
@saaandberg BECAUSE he is trying to build on his upper chest, NOT his triceps. A full extension would bring his triceps into the equation.
9.44 look at those two brothers sitting down on the left admiring kai
My favorite body builder in his prime
Wow! Those vials of Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes that they are selling in the sun-bed room are really working.
Great workout and VO!
i loves kai's outfit...hat.hoodie,compresion pants and boxing shoes....the gym is ment to build muscle not show it off...i feel the same way your in own zone and kno the way you look underneith it....its a BIG mental game and i think when u cant see your body you wanna work harder during the workout because you cant see it change and swell during the workout wich makes you work that much harder.......kai in my opion is a very very underated bodybuilder and is just on the outside of winning mr o
Holy shit ! For a guy, who trains more for the "muscle-feeling" and not the amount of weight, he can bench a lot ! (That was aboout 220 kilos and 4 reps from 6:20 - 6:50).
Respect !
@throatslammer u are soo damn right, its an olympic barbel which makes it a 20 kg bar... 45lbs
Kai handles the 45 like those mini gummy hamburger candies
kai is strong as hell
He did G4P. IMO he is still one of the top BBers out there and hopfully people will look past at what he used to do and just see what he brings on the stage
8:15 kai gave away his secret lol
dis guy's a powerhouse!
Geat job kai god love u
im used to train extremly hard at gym
but id seriously die if i tryed to train like this dude
even with my own weights
Its whatever your comfortable with, I used to lift like that and found it easier lifting heavier loads since your using the power of your hands.
This chest video is cool kai keep being cool God you .
it's funny, when i'm by myself, 315 is massive. but when i watch him do it, i'm like "man, that's it? get back to lifting 495 bitch!"
He's very strong at pressing too !
Yes,I understand. But if you are that big you are usually strong.
Other bodybuilders his size are very strong.Just take a look at ronnie coleman videos and you will see what I am talking about.
this man was pushing 405 for reps on incline 2 weeks out of the ny pro. hes come a long way since 09. 2011 mr. o righthere!!
@Pedz5657 nothing really... Its light so they dont actually need to incorporate their lower body strength into lifting. Now when it starts to get really heavy, you need to put your foot down flat and use a little bit of your lower body like the legs to help push the weight up.
@ilkkavu no that is true but stamina, strength and he is a participant in exercise... so it does make him an athlete by definition
Actually "bodybuilding" by definition is all about aesthetics. It's about how you shape and mold your body, not the weight or your strength. Why do you think a competiton in bodybuilding is up on a stage getting looked at, not a bench max competition or a squat or deadlift competition? Because bodybuilding actually IS all about the muscle. If you want strength, you have powerlifting. As hard as it is to realize, muscle doesn't equate to strength in a fixed ratio.
@leftpuman erm, nutrition is very important, yeah, you wanna get about 1 hour excersise in. Sleep is very important too. My philosophy is 1.diet 2.sleep 3. training... you wanna try to eat on time though. whey shake (quick protein)during breakfast, with good cereal/fruit for carbs. some carbs before a workout too, make sure you get some whey after a workout followed by a good meal, then before bed make sure u get some slow absorbing protein for the night, like some meat or time realease shakes
Love how the people to the left are like Holly!! Crap!! they've just been sitting there watchin him lol
oh im demotivated now. He's just using my workout weights to warm up. :D
He did not and he said in another video that he has great respect for Ron.
You will get there it takes time.
I find Kai a pure inspiration and major role model in bodybuilding. Although i find it confusing as he tells us that heavy weights aren't needed but in his training videos for the Arnold classics and this one he is using, what it seems, very heavy weights??
Strength training = central nervous system work
Bodybuilding = Working the muscles, hypertrophy
They are very different things, many smaller power lifters can easily out lift bigger looking body builders because training for strength is essentially very different from training for maximum muscle gains.
heavy weight isn't needed but still has it's place in bodybuilding you can get results without going super heavy it just depends on you
