Nice little video indeed. The adds sound exactly as you described. The chords become more juicy and rich. The add 2 feels like a lovely piece of chocolate on a cold and rainy day, when my blood sugar is dangerously low. Thanks for the video and take care.
The minor 4ths feel like resolving suspense to me, especially when you also added the Db add6 to the progression, and the minor 2nd felt very cozy and homey. The major 2nd felt like a slightly fuller regular major triad but the major 4th was SO juicy (for lack of a better word). Felt very full and nice, and a little magic/fantasy-ish to me. Also more urgency to resolve the 4ths than the 2nds. Great video! I enjoyed it
Add2, 4, 7, 9.. they lend to emotional effect. It can be dark and lead to resolution. Or it can be ethereal. It can be whimsical, as in jazz 7s. I like to call them “moving notes.” They’re where the soul of the song is born.
Thank you for this lesson. The Sus chords have such a lovely, warm, soothing sound! I like the runs you added too. I will practice these. 😊 Yay from the UK! 🇬🇧
Hi Francesca! I hope you're doing well! First, I just want to say how much I enjoy your videos-your tutorials and performances are always so inspiring and helpful. I was wondering if you might consider making a video on Sparkle- Kimi no na wa. I think it would be a fantastic addition to your channel, and I'd love to learn it from your tutorial. Of course, I completely understand if you already have a list of songs you're planning to cover. Thank you so much for all your hard work, and regardless of whether you take up this request, I’ll continue to be a fan of your channel!
Hello! Very nice video, interesting and educational! I usually and regularly use these "add" or "sus" chords in my personal pieces made on arranger keyboard, and I love the feel of the music because of it. I particularly find a keen interest in the arpeggiated parts of my EDM-style compositions, which bring the progressions to life melodically and in a rich and pleasant way! Well done and thank you!
Thank you!! That’s very nice. I have a question though! What’s the difference between add2; add4 and sus2; sus4? Again, thank you so much for your help.
I love these chords too. That first chord progression is the core of “Waiting for the day” by Bachelor Girl (James Roche and Tania Doko). The title track of their ~90’s album. Check it out. It is an awesome song and album! 😊 ua-cam.com/video/ezEQaF6xrwY/v-deo.htmlsi=YUKN39pzEsgcU6Rx

homey is the perfect word for it!

Thanks very much. I thought that was really good. I get the feeling of nostalgia and reminiscence from from these chords.
