Thank you for sharing the truth behind No Cost EMIs. Here is a summary I always try to make my friends understand while they plan to buy something in No Cost EMI.
Always we need to think "No Cost EMI" as "Extra discount on EMI Purchase" - that will make our understanding better.
The "Extra Discount" will give us the illusion of having a "Effective" "No Cost", but the reality is different, as the bank will still charge us the following:
1. Processing fees
2. GST on processing fees
3. Interest (Yes, and this is the same interest which was given as extra upfront discount)
4. GST on said Interest (And this was not included in upfront discount)
5. Foreclose charges if any.
6. *No Reward Points*
So we end up bearing some of the cost anyway. Try to get the lowest tenure possible to minimize your costs. And of course, if you don't feel that you cant buy a product in one go, please don't buy in EMIs.
Same is happening with me 😅 thanks for elaborating it.
Very well articulated!
Gst and 199 processing fee r not that much as gst only applicable to interest amount every month but say if u dnt spend the 1 lakh rs upfront u cn gain some interest by keeping the amount in FD or savings
Nope, not true.
I am buying one phone. Can u plz help me? What is 9 months 12 or 6 months of emi options which one is better
you are the only youtuber that i genuinely trust. You think of your viewers and not for just money like most of the youtubers do. Love you bro!❤

This is called honest UA-cam ❤
The UA-camr who talks about the tech facts 🔥
Having taken a lot of items on EMI please note : there is a transaction fees per EMI. Usually 199rs. PLUS 18% of that 199. Also the no cost emi amount that is discounted that too has an extra 18% taxes on it. Both these taxes bank collects and pays to the government on your behalf as gst. So donot forget to account for these extra hidden charges as well.
Yeah no cost is a big fraud , the interest you saves on upfront is more or less gets halved after all these processing fees + GSTs and all and of no use. Most People don't consider it generally untill they fell on the trap , no cost is only good if you're gonna pay full as the discount gets added and it's quite a lot tbh .
One thing that is never clearly mentioned to the customer is that you don't get reward points for EMI transactions. so, if you have a good card that gives you great reward points, you should see that as a loss too when buying a phone on EMI. Great video as always.
They won't give reward points as well as no cost emi .
What I do, I opt for an EMI on my HDFC card and pay the full amount the very next day, so ultimately I get another 3-4K discounts (Interest component) 😊

No cost EMI is good for those who can pay the full price of the commodity at the time of purchasing. For others EMI is a trap!!!!!

@@DinurAsYeah, I can understand that. With no cost EMI we can have some money in hand for emergencies.

But paying all the amount at once will not add any taxes extra. But on No Cost Emi, you will have to pay not only the amount set by the Flipkart but also all the taxes. And sometimes taxes increase depending upon the market. So you end up paying more.

Bhai tum aadmi sahi ho...sahi mein satya batate ho....aajkal koi honest aadmi dikhta nhi...lekin tum sahi ho...
No cost emi includes a Rs 200 one time processing fee and then 18% gst on the interest that is being paid( even if seller gives the interest amount as an upfront discount, you are still paying the interest to the bank and hence the gst). Even then you should opt for no cost emi provided you have that money or more than that in your bank account. The monthly interest earned on the remaining amount will be more than the processing fee+ gst you're paying, even if the money is lying in your savings account. Additionally, you can fix the installment amount as multiple fixed deposit and earn even more. Sometimes, there's additional discount on opting no cost emi over non-emi which is just a cherry on the top.
This is 100% accurate.
I think he didn't put forth his point accurately. He was trying to tell that people often extend their budget just because a costlier phone is available on EMI. Initially they would've planned to buy within their budget. So he's trying to tell people to stick to the budget if a phone they want is already fulfilling their necessities and not extend simply just because it can be easily purchased on EMI
@@promaster6999 I understood what he wanted to say and he's absolutely right about it. However, if one can truly afford a certain product and there is an option for no cost emi then that option should be taken over down payment in most instances.

I still think it's not the Bank's or the seller fault for providing No Cost EMI.
It's the buyers fault for not being responsible for their financial situation.
If someone wants to buy 1 Lakh phone on their salary of 30K then it's not the seller or banks fault for having no cost emi, it's the fault of stupid person who want to buy it.

In No Cost EMI, firstly, 199 (Processing fee)+35 (GST) = 234/235 total Processing fee.
Though, initially the Interest is added as discount, later bank will charge that interest every month at around 14-16% + 18% GST on that interest as well.
So, My suggestions to those cardholders, whoever lending his card to any known person to buy a phone or other things on No Cost EMI, please consider those charges and then make the deal with that buying party. Else you'll have to bear those extra interests (which are not even added while showing the EMI amount).

Simple math is to understand, if you can afford at least half the price upfront from your saving, it's OK to take an EMI for the full price. If not, you're spending more than you should.
Great video that highlights this! I feel another reason why people WANT a phone and not NEED a phone is because of unnecessary hype done by most UA-camrs for expensive and top end phones. (Not you, specifically but most)
@@infinite-techThat's only in theory. Most of the people don't buy it after thinking that I can afford it twice. Also a normal consumer doesn't spend his money by thinking rationally, he goes by the whims of the excitement like in sale.

no cost emi has hidden charges like
processing fee 199+ 18% gst and
upfront discount should be payable ex 2000 + 18% gst are divided for the no of months selected. basically u ll be paying an extra like around 500 to 600 depends upon emi for selected term.
recently bought OnePlus 11r solar red edition for 45999 currently i am paying extra of 600rs for 6 month emi. i am satisfied with the purchase and as rakesh bhai said choose emi only when u r having stable job.
i don't think to spend 1lakh to 2lakh for a phone on emi is waste.
40k smartphone is value for money flagship which last more than 4 to 5 years.
even my existing realme xt is working fine for day to day task.
Hmm but ye ye extra cost bahut zyada nahi hai No cost EMI par
Lakin use hi lena hai jiski earning achhi ho
Lalach me nahi aana
Even I hv real me XT .. working absolutely fine.. kya din the vo 15-20k me badhiya phone mil jata tha 🥺
Jarure nahi ki 4 5 saal chale phone kharab ho jaye phone lo max 25k ka baki sip kar do
@@GyanTherapy This extra cost is mandated by the government. In India a bank can't lend money without incurring an interest. And if a bank is earning interest, then it has levy GST (SGST+CGST or IGST).
Ye Sab Baad Mai Aaya Hai 199 vala uske pehle bhi maine liya hai 1 rupees bhi extra nahi lagata tha sirf amount hi dena padta tha jo tha vo bas or kuch gst
U r correct Rakesh. but one thing u should've also mentioned that is the EMI thing isn't bad in fact is very good option if one person is willing to make a purchase only to increase his/her CIBIL Score. A lot of people do follow this trick to increase their C.Score. I did this. But people, keep in mind that I cleared my dues each month on times without any delay. Had I delayed or missed any of the dues, my CIBIL Score would've taken a toll. I'm telling u. Make sure u r confident enough before choosing EMI option.
You are right but motive tha video ka jinke pass budget nahi hai
But aapka point Cibil wala sahi hai so maine pin comment me mention kar diya hai
It's not bad but it will be a bad deal since you end up paying more than the actual amount.
Main kuchh hi videoes dekhta hu aapke but aapka 'Jai Hind doston' bolne ka andaaz anokha aur mast lagta hai.

I bought a laptop with a no-cost EMI (for the first time) option for 3 months because there was an additional discount on credit card EMIs. The extra charges included a processing fee of 200 Rs and GST on the EMI (Amazon waived off EMI, but you still need to pay GST on it). In total, there were around 1300 Rs in extra charges for a 5000 Rs extra discount on 85000 Rs laptop.
Yes aise hi extra charge liya jaata hai

In no cost emi it costed me 22500 approximately (including 1500 card discount on emi). First month one time processing fee plus gst and gst on interest, I was aware of this before buying and I chose it. It shows 15.99% but it's reducing interest so if we calculate interest on principal amount it'd be 8-9%. It's true, during check out it should be mentioned about gst on interest rate for better transparency, only processing fee+gst is mentioned.

Not only the processing charge. Bank charges 18% gst on the interest component also.
Lets say you have bought a phone worth 30k on no cost emi.
You have to pay 2k as interest.
So total you will be paying 199₹+18% = 235₹ as processing charge (this can vary bank2bank)
+ 2k as interest +18% gst .
Total 235+2000+360 = 2595 ₹
For no cost emi, this extra amount will be 235+360 = 595₹ extra.
A valid point made. The first time this happened to me, I was really surprised.

I couldn't agree more with whatever he said. Having the desire, and not the resources but still fulfilling those desires with loans is the most stupid thing that a person can do.
Keep trying to grow your resources, and keep fulfilling those desires according to the availability of funds. Never overextend your finances to a limit where they become unsustainable.
Also what i would like to add is loans taken for education and property are always good as they will give you returns in the future, provided you can repay those loans timely.
Loans for fulfilling desires and luxuries will in most cases lead to disasters, and even if they don't, they will cause you to make serious lifestyle changes that you won't like simply because you don't have the resources to have a better lifestyle
