I think it was a good game, obviously it has its flaws but I was super impressed with the gore and graphics, I think the game devs chose quality over quantity with this game. Every once in awhile I’ll hop on it just to mess around and kill zombies .

Yeah that screamer prevents me from reaching it but what if I threw something heavy at it? What if I drop kicked a nearby zed to shut it up? I do have my gun... Yet I could throw this ninja star... Or I could dash strike right into it!

(Why is fury mode more of raging rat mode? Flying kick is kinda really lame in comparison to drop kicking a dude... It'd be insane if you could bounce of zeds like that but hey maybe it's a card I've yet to unlock. You can't stand on floaties anymore. Big missed opportunity!)

I think the fighting was better in Dead Island 1 and Dying Light 1, those games feel more... slashy.
I really like the hordes in Dying Light, but the hordes in Dead Island 2 are a pain in the ass. There's often not enough room for crowd control, and the damn auto-leveling kills the vibe, imho.
But Dying Light 3 should be their top priority. After they make a good (please make it good) third chapter, they'll take all the mechanics, add some fun, and call it Dead Island 3.

Like you said we need that open world. And vehicles to smash zombies is a must. Keep the great graphics and make it fun to play so not like DayZ or so were you have to grind 7 hours to find bullets and stuf andso.
They should have gotten with the DayZ community to build fan-fiction/lore into the storyline.

I actually liked that it wasn't openworld. So often openworld games are too empty. These openzones were much more memorable.

@@epicchocolate1866 It is, for some people. Don't forget that in these sections are very detailed buildings and other stuff you can visit and explore. And the "clunky" zombies are so much fun to dismember. Atleast be honest and give the gore system some credit. If you don't like the game, that's ok. Plenty of other bangers out there. It isn't your cup of tea, i guess.

Dead island 1 was almost a masterpiece. It was immersive and felt like a cult classic

Good thing is the developed continued on that and gave us Dying light 1 and 2. both more than worthy successors :)
I think a multiplayer survival mode would be great, something where you can really explore weapon upgrading/customization and fight larger hordes.
Being able to build traps would be a cool feature as well. I’ve finished the game and there’s pretty much no reason for me to touch it ever again but I did enjoy the combat so pretty much any mode that brings something new would be nice
Dying light 1 and its dlc still the best for me
Just started playing dead island 2 on gamepass and all it made me want to do is reinstall dying light, the sequel was pretty lackluster

Soooo your telling me a dev had the ball's to go against the "live service" BS and just gave us a single player story driven game with an actual end point? Not EVERY game is meant to be played for hours and hours on end. Idk, I grew up in the 90's so it's just crazy to me to hear people talk about game's that have an ACTUAL end point as a negative. There's nothing wrong with that... I highly doubt anybody expected Dead Island 2 to live well on into the future. Play the game and beat it, move onto the next game. That isn't a negative imo.

Agree so much. These people pushing for every single game to be an open world, never ending live service nightmare are why we get so many mediocre ones shoved down our throats. I could tell 30min in that dead island 2 would be a one and done for me and thats absolutely fine.

Still really short, the quests weren’t THAT good. This game is missing a lot of things. But I will give credit to the gore, graphics, and performance but that doesn’t carry the game for me. And when they nerfed sliding it became too slow.
Honestly I think the need to have every game have some crazy thing to keep players in for 100s of hours is bad. It's fine to have an ending to a game without needing to make it a live service title that has loot boxes or something, because that's what usually happens.
That's fine and all, but they didn't even finish the story. The least they could've done is allow players a NG+ to play with their legendary weapons.

Pretty much seems like people bought Dead Island 2 thinking it would be a Dead Rising clone in First Person format. The game launched on PC and every other console out there except the Nintendo Switch so the features were scoped to the lowest denominator that all hardware can handle. So no vehicles, no hordes and limited size of the maps. Even then it's like 70GB. Statistically up to 20% of the player base finishes any game. The idea was to double down on everything that was fun in Dead Island to get the game released and some sales going.
This game already has everything that. Just needs a better open world map, vehicles, and more stuff to do.

My only problem is the lack of end game content. Luckily, in a few months or so, they’ll be releasing the last major DLC/update to the game. It’s supposedly going to feature something that I thought should’ve been in the game at launch, the interaction with other human fighters/survivors/hostile humans. This is something I’m looking forward to being an addition to the game. There will be a new location, addition features, idk if there’s gonna be an overhaul to combat and skills, but there will probably be a story and new weapons.

I have played through dead island 2 three separate times now. You get a new save for each character and each one needs a different build. I'm having endless fun honestly.
A big kicker for me is the fact you can quick join any public game and help people out. You can also save weapons in your stash for future saves. I enjoy helping out new players with the more "secretive" weapons that you have to search to find.
We need a dead island 1 remake or just expand on that. Since that game felt just right but with modern tech it would be 100x better. Especially with your idea with bigger hordes instead of lvl 1000000 zombies

They remade those games already. They need to fully revamp them we don’t need a remaster. We need a Dead island Sam B edition. Kinda like how halo did it. Next gen graphics on the old games. It’ll sell like crazy idk why they haven’t done this with fallout borderlands etc.
@@dbzbruh3674 they'd have to full recreate those OG games on an entirely new source engine and all, can't transfer a whole game from an outdated source engine without bugs and corruption.. It's harder than you think ttbh..
I like the game alot and with 3 or 4 dlcs coming out its superrrrrrr fun to co-op with the boys
I think it's a solid, fun, 7/10 sort of game. It's not something you're going to remember forever but if you want to have a bit of fun bashing zombie's heads in whilst playing through a fairly a light-hearted storyline, I'd recommend it. It's fun.
I totally disagree, coming from dead Island 1, waited 10 years and its absolutely the fun of my Life 😂.
My main issue with this game is the guns, it is a zombie apocalypse, why am i pumping 10-20 rounds into a single deadhead, dying light one did guns amazing, most zoms take ine shot, only when you come across a freak like demolisher or a volatile
bullet sponge level system much like Dying Light 2. They assume we want it, they assume it’s a great idea. I don’t know why it’s standard instead of a difficulty slider.

Towards the end at the back of the light house you could get a gold AK47 that 4 taps zombies but that’s towards the end when everything is complete.
So right now the gold edition which is the best out there is only 50 dollars and comes with all DLCs

Hell ya I got dead island 2 from Christmas had no idea what it was, and it grew on me.
That kind of physics with hoards? I don't know about that.
is it just me or do the melee weapons feel to short ? I keep swinging and missing because im out of range it feels like i really have to be in arms reach for zombies to hit them. i played dying light before dead island 2 and ive never had any issues with the combat there it felt more natural. The next thing i immediately didn´t like was the bullet sponge thing and the enemys leveling up with me. It takes out all of the impact weapons have because zombies take so many hits.
I kinda quit the game because the core combat system is unsatisfying and unfun

Just use knuckle dusters with the impact mod and you will be fine you can go around punching up hoards of zombies like you have bombs for fist 😂
It feels too repetitive because all it needed for the exact same zombie that you’ve obliterated just a few second ago to respawn, is just a couple few steps away from the “spawn area”. I’ve also encountered like 3 of the exact same female zombie in a single fight 😂 having to fight three carbon copy of a triplets is not fun, immersion breaking in fact.
@@SordidusFellatio yea literally the first mission had this issue. the one where you have to close the gate. I was searching and searching for it because all the gates are already closed. i only noticed the second gate because zombies kept spawning behind me. there was no indicator where they came from they where just spawning in 4 at a time

I got it last Tuesday and haven't put it down since. I'm really enjoying myself being this one-man wrecking crew, slaughtering zombies left, right, and center. Getting the trophies and uniquely-named weapons is fun for me.
I love Left 4 Dead and Dying Light 1&2, I'd love this too for sure. Wanna play it sooo bad

I prefer interesting small areas over empty open worlds (as in early versions of cyberpunk)
I’m about 14 hours in so far, played the eff out of the first one back in the day. No NG+ still is a bit gutting. But yeah I’m looking forward to finishing this one and go with each character. There’s plenty ways to kill them are you joking? Amount of environmental kills as well? And if your needing numbers hits then either your low level, got rubbish weapons or are built wrong. Fun game, plenty side quests, yeah should have had a lot of other main quests, ng+ and the like. Yes you should play it. On PS5 loading is seconds btw 🤷🏻♂️ at least we got it lol! I prefer the city setting over the island.

When the game first came out, there was definitely some difficulty especially when it came to the money system. Where you had to literally decide on what to keep, what to scrap and what to sell. Whatever patches they put into this game it made the game easier and even more enjoyable.

I just downloaded this game last night as I've just finished playing dying light 1 and was looking for another good zombie game. I haven't started playing it yet but I can already see that there's some similarities between the dying light zombies and dead island 2 zombies. I agree with your comment about hoards as my favourite zombie game is days gone. I really hope they do another one. I always play my games on hard difficultly for more of a challenge and you don't get through the game as quick and loved having to use stealth alot because one mistake and your toast. The hoards on days gone were hectic!! I hope dead island 2 lives up to the hype

I agree , zombies' selling point is their number. They're weak but strong in number. If you make one boss too hard it doesnt make it a zombie, it's a monster. And if you make a monster, it's not really a zombie game.

Is there a chainsaw in this game? I haven’t played much of it and I’m new and I would love it if there is a chainsaw, but if not, that’s what I think they should add and you could like, dismember zombies body parts with it.

I never really thought the combat was that bad. It’s a far cry better than _Dead Island 1,_ where it felt like there was almost a controller input delay.
_Dead Island 2_ is definitely worth checking out, especially if you get it at a reduced price!
I've been addicted to this game since it came out on Game Pass. Needed a break from Palworld and Starfield. Loving it so far and wouldn't mind seeing a Dead Island 3 with drivable vehicles again. Kinda wanna play Dead Rising now...
I hope they make the third more like the first, but with impressive graphics as the second, i really not are that much into zombies, but the first was amazing due to how the game was, this one besides the gore and mechanics about killing zombies not get me that much into it, i love to drive vehicles as well, the hord stuff not make sense to me, if i want to kill hords i aim for left 4 dead or similar titles, i want zombies like this game, a little bit realistics without parts, rooted as hell and not well functioning living bodies, soo this kind of zombie are better, i just guess they could tweak a bit combat to not allow player to kick the same standard zombie 30 times on the head to kill it, make a finish move when it is down or something to erase a single target when no other can hurt you for sure
I loved this game just wrapped it up the combat and visuals are awesome.
It is a good worth to play game. There is not long but entertaining plot, there is some fun and some tolerable bugs (fucking vents).

I do agree with the leveling and killing part. Maybe they should have made the normal zombies easier to kill and the special zombies the same difficulty as now.
Trust me the Zombies Turn really easy you Just need to learn to use your wapons the right way. For example there is wapons to Pop heads with and wapons to Cut limbs with. Just read the descriptions and use the right wapons style for your Charakter. Bruno for example you want to Always aim for the limbs or for the head because thats a critical Hit, but only with certain wapons. And in endgame you can Just so whatever because youre going to be OP.
most zombies die in 1 to 2 hits once u get to lvl 11. u seriously need to upgrade your weapons since its basically free cause of how cheap it is
Dead island 2 will always be worth coming back to even though it doesnt have multiple choice options n multiple endings etc its still worth it imo

Zombie spawns need sorted far too many coming at you even after killing entire armies of them.
i have played and finish all dead island (and Dying light games) released, i got the gold edition of this one for my steam deck and i like it !!!, very good graphics and physics for the zombies are really good, the story is a little bit ''cliche'' with some bad jokes and stuff but it is an entertaining game if you like zombie stuff.
I like linear story more than open world games, and this was a great addition to gamepass, finished the game and had a blast, feels much better than if I paid $70 for a game that I spent not too much time on.

I just played it as a fan of dead island 1 and i must say i havent had such a fun in ages. The game was a little hard at the beginning, but i kept going and it turned easier and easier while i learned to use my wapons and skills right. Anyhow, for me now one of the best zombie slasher games ever played. Also the open world addiction some people have these days.. i personally find it quite refreshing how they handled it in a more compact way. Also i disagree on playing the old titel over thisone, dead island 2 is by far better while they stayed loyal to what they been 10 years ago without trying to be something diferent.
I personally agree that if they put the same graphic and gore into dead island 1 and riptide, it would be better and personally the chances of me replaying the riptide again for 4th time is much higher
One thing I wished was that dead island 2 continue the story of riptide and tell us what happened afterward

heres my issue. I pre-ordered the game. played tf out of it, beat everything basically 100%'ed the game. i go to play the game again and it claims i dont own the game when i launch it. i attempt to just re-download the game and it was completely removed from my library and i had no purchase history or anything. it just completely vanished. i tried to figure out what happened and get help. but they wouldn't do anything due to the fact that this account was gifted to me many years ago. so i dropped close to $100 dollars just for the game to vanish and get no help.

It feels like they decided to make all the zombies into tanks, just so they could display the gore all up front. If they just realized the novelty wore off months ago and nerfs the zombies a bit, it seems like it'd give the game a full second wind.

I really feel like dead island 1 was a love letter to everyone that was a zombie fan and I feel like dead island 2 fell a little bit short compared to the new world that the first game gave us it could be such a MONUMENTAL STAPLE to zombie games but I do feel like it’s due for a FAT dlc

As I was hitting a zombie, I realised I wasn't damaging it. Then it killed me with one hit. I'm pretty sure after playing the game for another 18 hours, my rake will reach level100, and I'll be able to return and kill it with one hit. I like beating games based on getting better at the game, not just, well... you've played the game for long enough so here's a magic garden rake.
I know a lot of games are designed like this, but it doesn't make it any less retarded and lazy.

I loved the game love love loved it when it comes to fighting harder zombies the special ones have certain weapons that will do more damage like the screamer is weak to blunt weapons cuz it says it's frail as a bird The Crushers are weak to bleed damage because who the hell knows but overall the zombies with the Stars we're always going to be hard no matter what you did just keep grinding up and everything will eventually fold like a piece of paper

I think I was level 6 and was at full health. A Walker zombie hit me twice and killed me.
I was like, WTF??? I thought it was a glitch, but no. The same Walker, same 2-hits, same death.
There ARE difficulty spikes and some zombies are actual damage sponges. I would have liked to see armor upgrades, because weapon upgrades are really nothing special in games anymore.
its so annoying when I do a heavy attack on a zombie, another zombie will be next to me and kill me with one or two hits. I'm stuck on "bob's" mission at the moment. Like 30 zombies, I even have a legendary gun and that isn't enough.
