What a fascinating man. Provided huge entertainment to me as a kid in the 80s.

I attended this event -- Stephen was so humble, kind, REAL -- I hung around and he chatted and just had zero pretense to him -- might as well be talking to my mailman -- his energy was one of pure gratitude and enthusiasm. Rare to see this kind of goodness and humility combined with this much success --

I like how he repeats the question because he knows the microphone might not have picked it up and we can’t hear it and he knows the audience might not have heard it, also saying it clarifies it and gives him time in his mind to go over it before answering.

Because Mr. Cannell was associated with James Garner, is what opened my eyes to Mr. Cannell. I was amazed by his success as a writer at such a young age!

After getting a vid of Mike Post talking about him, this one popped up. He was an amazing guy: smart, sensible, and utterly unpretentious.

Mr. Cannell was so honest in this. So great to know his struggle after watching and loving so much of his TV shows, films and books over the years. Really, really miss him.

Amazing speech. Came here from searching for the clips of him at the end of shows, didn't know who he was. Best takeaway from this is about assigning a high priority to the work you love!

At 24:50, when he starts speaking about Adam-12 and a cop siren suddenly goes by in the background, you can't write coincidences like that :)

Wrong. That was a fire engine siren.

The way the system was set up when Steven was in school, is that people thought that if you misspelled a lot of words, that that meant you weren't a good writer. This of course is not true because creative writing is a completely different skill-set.

Einstein actually posited his theory about a clock behind the train, as he went away from it. He would sit at the back of the train and look out the back window as the train went away from the clock tower of his town.
