I went with team Paper and I do not regret it. The whole thing felt like a intense struggle between Scissors and Rock, and we where just vibing in the background.
Especially considering only 17% of players picked paper and some of the streamers I checked in with throughout the day rarely got placed in games against us but when they did they lost. It was a beautiful thing to witness
I feel like the ultra signal needs to be destroyable... it can have lots of health.. but once team gets both, the game is over right there. If they could destroy it, then there's a chance for a last minute comeback.
same here, the first time i played, the opposing team got the signal and i was super confused i couldnt destroy it. like ok...maybe not with normal fire from your gun, but at least with offensive specials like the tri missiles or reef surfer at least?
I met some Scissor teams who made it basically impossible to get the ultra signal, it is possible to defend them but it is a very high skill thing so they maybe need to make it a little easier to do.
I was on team scissors and almost every game I was in all the ultra signals got grabbed and we still won by a decent bit from getting in to peoples spawn

So, this was the first one for Splatoon 3, and it seems like they re-worked how things work from when I last did a Splatfest in Splatoon 2. The most popular faction got some points. In this case, Rock was most popular by 2 percent over Scissors, with Paper a DISTANT third. That gave them 10 points. They also got points based on "clout." As you played the game, at the end of each match, you'd earn 'clout' for your team. There were 10x and 100x matches that would appropriately multiple the amount of clout for the winning team, and winning teams got more clout in general. So, clout correlates HEAVILY with wins. They split it into two categories. Open, where you just hop in and are at the mercy of the algorithm to find you good teammates and Pro, where you can party up with friends and jump into queue together. Rock came out on top on open queue, Paper on Pro queue. Now, if the open queue is ALWAYS 15 points or if it was just 15 becuase it was the second category Rock won, I do not know, but Rock got another 15 points (in addition for the 10 for the raw popularity contest) putting them at 25 to Paper's 10 and Scissor's Zero. Scissors weren't actually doing terribly in any given category, but in all 3 categories, ther'es no prize for second place.
For Splatoon 3, a team will get points based on Clout. You earn Clout by winning the popular vote, for having the most wins, and inking the most turf. Wins only count for Pro Mode, and you earn bonus points for your team for beating high-ranked opponents.
Basically there is 3 categories : Who got the most votes - Performance in solo online (called open) and performance in multi online (called pro) Vote and pro are both worth 10 points Open is worth 15 because it's the main mode and also to avoid the possibility of getting a draw. The team with the most points win.
Pure because the tricolor battles weren’t balanced at all, cause as middle team you have to defend the middle from 2 sides AND paint the map without a spawn place where you can kind of secure some points.
I think it’s balanced, just tweak it a bit so the defending team has more turf accessible to ink and it shouldn’t be too hard. Just coordinate yourselves correctly I mean they have it easy, 4vs4 like normal, the other teams do a 2vs6
Just to give some numbers, when the leading team of four wins in tricolor they gain about 12k clout TOTAL split between the four of them, meanwhile when a team of two wins they gain 22k clout TOTAL split between the two of them. Literally winning team during tricolor gains half points and is at a huge disadvantage regardless of the actual map balance

I will admit I am very salty, but also I think Scissors was at a disadvantage because we were on top at half-time. Tri-color battles were so difficult, we won maybe 20% of the time. And if someone got the Ultra Signal it was just absolutely game over, might as well give up. I hope they find a way to balance it better for the actual release. As it stands it was just unfair. Also the fact that the map was kind of flawed. The other teams could get all the way into our bases where we had to drop in, but like 40% of theirs were completely unaccessable to us or the other team. There was so much turf that we just couldnt access, and no way to defend what little we had. They also had spots we couldn't get to that loomed right over the central bridge where the Ultra Signal was, which made us so succeptable to snipers/chargers and with barely any cover. We were at a disadvantage from all sides. I also wonder how evenly spread the 333x, 100x, and 10x battles were. I played for probably 3 hours and only encountered a single 10x battle. There's also a ton of people online from Team Rock who were posting screenshots of their winning 333x battles. Edit: My experience is not universal and I only saw a small chunk of what was posted online, I'm just saying it as I see it. There are absolutely others who had better luck than me, I just question which team they were on. I'd imagine it would be balanced between the teams, but I have no way of knowing so and also no way to really check. This is my opinion and observations based on limited evidence from what I personally experienced. (Edit Over) There were so many Scissors people online at one point that I got put up against another team filled with fellow Scissors members! (My side got randomly assigned to blue and the others were yellow, but we all had red shirts.) It was so hard to even get into a match in the first place, most times it took at least 2 minutes to get into a game. I'll accept the loss, but I can't help but think the tides were turned against us.

I think it doesn't change,The middle is supposed to represent that scissors won the half time so you can still lose either way but it still it wouldn't be changing anything because both rock and paper was right on scissors tail being behind by 1-2% so yall didn't really have an advantage when coming to the tri war and regular/pro matches.
As a member of the WINNING Team Rock, I think Scissors got HARD screwed over by Tricolor and the map choice. They basically couldn't do anything once we were near their spawn, and they had to defend from essentially 4 different sides. Tricolor was REALLY fun (especially as an Aerospray main), but it might need a bit of rebalancing. The sprinklers, while I felt didn't do much overall if you got 1, were INSANE if you got 2, ESPECIALLY the center one. They should be sort of like the target dummies in the Lobby, where they have X amount of health, but destroying it will make it disappear for Y amount of seconds. Maybe like, 500 HP, is gone for 10-15 seconds or so, MAYBE 20. That way it's not a HUGE advantage, but it's not like "Oh, we got the thing and now it's gone. Guess that was for nothing."

The fun Part is that I was pro Scissors. But my friends were team rock so I joined them. I don't regret it tho. I haven't played Splatoon in years so coming back and playing with my long time Miiverse friends gave me a huge nostalgia kick.

I was on team scissors, no particular reason other than to have fun. I'm no simp, just wanted a fun time. This new splatfest was fun ngl, but the tricolor fights definitely need some work. The map felt too cramped for a 3 team battle...as if they couldn't make a special Triangular map to make it an even playing field with even amounts of turf, instead of squeezing a 3rd team on a 2-team map...OR simply make it only a 2v2v2 match to make the teams even

They should be sort of like the target dummies in the Lobby, where they have X amount of health, but destroying it will make it disappear for Y amount of seconds.
Maybe like, 500 HP, is gone for 10-15 seconds or so, MAYBE 20. That way it's not a HUGE advantage, but it's not like "Oh, we got the thing and now it's gone. Guess that was for nothing."

I don't regret it tho. I haven't played Splatoon in years so coming back and playing with my long time Miiverse friends gave me a huge nostalgia kick.
As someone who was on team scissors, I am sad we lost but I still had a great time playing and can't wait for the game to come out

This new splatfest was fun ngl, but the tricolor fights definitely need some work. The map felt too cramped for a 3 team battle...as if they couldn't make a special Triangular map to make it an even playing field with even amounts of turf, instead of squeezing a 3rd team on a 2-team map...OR simply make it only a 2v2v2 match to make the teams even
