Great job by all these talented young ppl, and I loved the Bossa Nova arrangement in the beginning. The Beatles are the gift that keeps giving.

Everytime I hear this song I cry, thinking of the distraught parents in the song and the ones who actually experienced this, especially in the sixties, when there was an epidemic of runaways. With that said, this is the best cover of the song I've ever heard. The jazz arrangement was a great idea. The singing was fantastic. And the energy and talent of these beautiful young people was thoroughly inspiring. Fantastic!

Linas and I watched the video and was very impressed. Every time we see Emily sing, she gets better and better. She looked and sounded confident and had great control and tone. I feel like I am a judge on The Voice. If I was, I would definitely push my button.

It's a nice song, but they spoiled it by giving it a jazz beat. It just doesn't work

The kids are amazing. The lead singers are marvelous. That said, I have to say that the upbeat jazz arrangement is totally inappropriate. It loses the entire meaning of the song.
"She's Leaving Home" is a story told first from the (plainly skewed) perspective of the parents (voiced by the mother), who are shocked by the unexpected departure of their daughter, for whom they feel they have sacrificed so much to give her "everything money can buy." They feel hurt, and they don't understand why she would sneak away without so much as a goodbye. This is then contrasted with the girl's (also skewed) perspective of newfound freedom. She feels like she is able to enjoy life for the first time, to have fun, which she believes to be the "one thing that money can't buy." The contrast is deliberate and tinged with sadness and irony, and the upbeat jazz arrangement presented here clashes with it entirely.
The Beatles used straight, unadorned 3/4 time for the accompaniment, with little to no syncopation. It gives a formal feeling to the piece. They used nothing but strings in their arrangement, and especially prominent is the cello, as it sounds very much like the human voice and can express great emotion. These were not mistakes on their part. It was how the song was intended to be experienced; the arrangement was a a part of the narrative and complimented it, rather than clashing with it.
This is, of course, just my opinion, and it is worth exactly what you paid for it.
