I'm a unapologetic John Wayne fan, but he was in many bad movies. His style of acting is great to watch and again another but. The movies were getting more campy as time went on. Wayne was no longer defining western movies via Ford director. But rather, defining and playing everyone's favorite role, The Duke. I still watch his movies but try to "Steer" away from the real bad ones that constantly play on TV. Try Watching Red River, The Man who shot liberty Valance, The quiet man. True grit. : }
