- Carlos Santana's longstanding creative partnership with Paul Reed Smith has done much to shape the destiny of PRS Guitars. Over the years, we have honored this pivotal alliance by offering variations of his signature model instrument. The Santana Retro - a blend of history and modern manufacturing - pays homage to the early "Pre-Factory" guitars Paul built for Carlos in the early 1980’s, with unique design elements including a deeper body carve, original style heel, and the original headstock shape and nut placement. Starting in 2024, it also features a 24.594” scale length.
Watch along as product specialist Bryan Ewald walks us through the specs and tonal capabilities of this highly musical guitar good enough for the man himself.

Are you kidding, Bryan play is absolutely beautiful. He’s the perfect person to demo this guitar. I’ve been following PRS for a long time, and Bryan is outstanding.
You got that right. Amazing
Bryan playing is outstanding, but even so it shows how much magic Carlos have on his fingers.
I could listen to him play all day. But i've ran out of videos and have to wait for new ones or rewatch old ones.
@peteralaexanderharrison9309 - agreed. Bryan is a wonderful player, tasteful, plenty of feel, super technique.
Wen Bryan Ewald signature PRS model?!
I am lucky to have a Santana Retro, mine came with a 58/15 in the bridge and a Santana pick up in the rhythm pick up. Wonderful piece of art that sounds amazing. Ohio Guy
I never liked the Santana bridge pickup in mine - I’m interested to hear how the 58/15 works.
It's a very musical guitar. It can sound almost single coil like, with the right kinda amp. The Santana Retro is full of character and tone. Amazing guitar!
Nice to know you kept the better tuners on this model. 👍
Some sweet playing , Bryan. Love how you dialled the amp to the just on the crest of feedback setting.
Help tidal wave of PRS guitars. Are they taking over? Now if we had Carlos doing the demo that would be something.
never owned a PRS but if i did this be the one!
I wouldn't normally consider a bridge humbucker when thinking about a more jazzy/bossa nova-ish type of tone. Great demo Bryan and PRS put together. Carlos guitars definetely have it in them to evoke The Santana type of sound, specially if one has the chops
Beautiful guitar, beautiful playing. I'm holding out for the Bugs Henderson Memorial SE!
This guitar is beautiful, I’m gonna have to own one of these at some point in my life.
Awesome !!!! Beautiful!!!!!
Awesome!!!🌟🌟💯💯
3:45 How dare you not play slow dancing in a burning room after that note
Was about to say the same thing! 😂
My favorite headstock
WOW!!!
very nice instrument....sounds and looks high quality....
man...if only I could afford it...I love namm season when all the stuff comes out
Awesome guitar!
I love the eagle on the headstock.
WOW. What a Beauty, Tone & Craftmanship. Must say, 8th Wonder of the World. And, an eloquent elaborate Review. 🌈🏳🌈
Wow beautiful guitar nice sound too 😢
I bought a 2011 Santana a month ago and I’m awfully glad I did. It is a very special guitar, even if I don’t really get along with its super hot bridge pickup :)
Lower it
@@zeusapollo8688 Oh I tried that. I’ve been a professional musician for 20 years so it ain’t my first bbq. I think I just don’t love the pickup.
santana toneee!!
Give this man a raise !! And a big ol cigar. He likes cigars or ciggys im guessing :). PRS rules.
There it is, the old tunning pegs reimagined by Paul all the way back in 1980.
PRS guitars are works of art (and science). And Bryan's demos are great. Now, can PRS hire a real video editor to do the instruments and performer justice? I've never seen such unmotivated cuts from a 3-camera shoot. The oblique angles on Bryan talking are especially bizarre.
Is this the first year of the 24.594 vs 24.5" ?
Yup!
Yup!
a whole 2.39mm across the neck... no way to feel that difference.
First thought it was a marketing gimmick, but probably just simplifies production. one less changeover for cutting neck slots.
...and no more 11.5" radius on the Santana?
@@captainflamson another victim to streamlined production.
🙂✨️🎶💓🎸💓🎶✨️
Are they the zebra pickups
where are the two mini switches?
Those were only on the first generation. Since the Santana II (early 2000s?), this has been the layout. (with some deviations in some years here and there, where they had knob placements similar to custom 24)
WHERES THE NEW TUNING BUTTONS?? lol
What’s that guitar cost? 🙉
looks amazing sounds dead
Your new buttons BLOW...... Leave the design alone, they were perfect.
Why not have Santana play the demo?...instead of someone playing in Santana's style? That video would definitely get some views.
bruh
Lol go ahead and pull up any santana live footage from the past 15-20yrs (realistically more but I digress), tell me what you see him playing
