- In this video I put some finishing touches on my DIY Les Paul. I finally got my water slide decal in the mail for my DIY Les Paul Custom, and in this video I place it on the headstock. It's not perfect, but I think it worked just fine! I shared the link below if anyone is interested in getting one of these decals from the seller I used on eBay. I hope you like the video. This is calming as watching Bob Ross paint! 😂!
I love that 😂
You can clear over stickers! I've done it many, many times! Light coats with plenty of dry time! Thanks Marty tru-oil works too!
I need to try again! I have had issues with it bubbling? Maybe it was my brand of clear coat or lacquer?
I’ve seen hundreds of headstock conversion videos and am a,ways amazed at the amount of people who choose waterslide decals over friskets. To each their own of course, but decals always seem to stick out a lot more. But the result came out great. Cheers.
enlighten me please. what the hell is a frisket?
That's the best video on the internet. My hands were trembling with anticipation.
Looks cool, Marty, and that guitar turned out great! I dig it.
Thanks man! 😎🎵
nice one brother!
i have a sparkly pink squier tele myself!
a friend told me "it takes a real man to own a pink guitar"......
I love pink! If done right it's cool man!

Cool/Nice Project & It came put A1! Thanks For Sharing 🎸🎶
You're welcome! Thanks for watching Patrick!
Finishing touch😎😎😎 looks great!!
Thanks man!
I enjoy these guitar shop creations or fixes and tune ups and gear related stuff- this is waay fun- I love it.
That's like putting an m3 sticker on the back of an old bmw 316d 😂.
But serriosly man that does look really good 👍
"I don't have steady hands, and my eyesight isn't good"! Still a good job. Crafts people say spray windex on under the decals, so they slide easier.
I get the shakes man. Lol. My nerves are shot after my divorce 6 years ago. No lie. Haha.
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker trading steady hands for freedom is a no brainer IMHO!
@@AndyK.23 dude, that is sooooo the truth.
Very cool guitar, I would love to own that. Wish I could afford to have you build one for me.
YES! Trogly surprise!
Trogly would love this beast when he played it. 😁🤟🏻
Marty…I have an old Kramer Pacer from ‘84…in the 90’s it was not cool to have a shredder guitar, so I sanded off the kramer logo…now that it is cool again to have a super shredder, I want to put the logo back on…so this vid is on point…thanks bro👍
Looks good! Instant collectors item!
Thanks Geoffrey. I can't believe how will it plays and is set up. It really just came together nicely
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker agreed!
Looks Great, the color of the logo matches paint and hardware.
Thank you! I appreciate it very much msn!
That’s cool. I’ve never messed with decals before, but you got me wanting to work on my TheFretWire LP - that I’ve had for 6 years and not done yet - and put LP decals on it. 👍🏼
Awesome man! Get to work! Lol. 😂😂
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker 😆
The gold goes great with the pink
Thanks, I think so too. Nice blend and not too crazy.
not boring at all Marty - Like watchin Evel Knivel doing practice runs by the ramp! Good stuff, were all just trying to make stuff better, so what the heck!
Dude we have the same metal, silver knife!!! LoL.thats awesome!!!🎉
The cut border around the Diamond logo was still too wide, if that makes sense, still too much material. That's why it was bunching up near that post. Otherwise, WOW, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GUITAR!!! That color makes all the gold hardware stick out. WOW! Gorgeous, I love it! Now how does it sound?
look like it turned out 👍
Thanks man. I'm happy with it!
That came out really slick!!! That guitar just looks awesome, the pink and gold really go together better than I ever thought they would!!!
As always great video Marty thanks for sharing, can't wait to see what's next!!!
Should I make a brass truss rod cover, powder coat it black and engrave a logo? It would match really well?
Dude that would rock!
We are real fans… we just watched an almost 20 minutes video of a guy putting a sticker 😂
Haha! Hey.. it's good for late night or early morning viewing when laying down. Hahah. Or on the can 😂😂
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker or drinkin a cup of Joe after work in my case! 😂
I was "glued" to the phone screen....while driving!
@@MainPrism absolutely! Sometimes we just need an unwind video.
What do you mean its almost impossible to lacquer of decals? I do it all the time with great results.
It wasn't boring it was nerve wracking.
I agree lol
Relaxing and cool hanging with ya
Thanks for the support as always bro!
Ended up looking really good... That axe would stand out on stage or for photo shoots. it aint subtle, but its got style.
Thanks! It is flashy but it's subtle as well. I think the quilt adds to it 😎
Hey Marty! that's a nice looking homemade Les Paul Bubba. Keep making them guitars my Friend, it's possible 1 them there
Skin Walkers may need to borrow 1 at some point, you know? do the bone dance.
Thanks man. I'm an the proudest of this building then all. It's really a seeet playing guitar! Haha sure thing man, anything to support the cause. 😎
The folks over at Chibson are taking notes 😂
Haha!! So true. lol.
I like it buddy
As a lefty I’ll never see a pink LPC unless I sell a kidney, for the custom shop/M2M
But digging the color you went with!
Back in the days if ole....we would watch the paint dry and we were men about it. We didnt mamby pamby about the details. Tune them there strings and plug that contraption into your fancy electric outlet and play us a tune boy 😎
Very nice clone custom but, you should change out the truss rod cover, it only has two screws, top and bottom, that's a epiphone truss rod. If you going to clone it, go all out 💯.
Got one ordered 😁
Marty I own a Chibson and I can't tell the difference.
There are some really good ones out there for sure man 🎵👍
Great video awesome Content as well It's always guitar related But I'll see you try to incorporate different things dealing with guitars That's why I continue to watch your channel
MARTY!!!!😊
GOOD MORNING!! Hope you and your family have a wonderful day.
Perhaps we could have MORE MARTY LIVE FOOTAGE!!!???
You did quite well. Looking forward to MARTY5150 LIVE!!
God bless you kid. Hope you have a blessed weekend ❤❤
Sincerely,
L. Albert Jackson Munoz 👍😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looks like they printed the logos a little too big. Also, you could remove the truss rod cover and the tuning pegs and then just reinstall them over the excess sticker edges.
Yeh man, I should have went the extra mile and removed the tuners. I didn't realize it was gonna be such a close fit. 😁🥂
That guitar is worth $6000 now 😂
It almost looks like they didn't wait for the decals to dry before they spray them with clear coat at Gibson. the original looks like it's bubbling up underneath the clear coat.
Pinkpanter from thailand
Lol. Precisely 😂😂
HOw are you liking the pickups? Did you raise the pole pieces to be fliush with the covers? Looks like they might be below the covers. I would have slid the diamonds into place before putting the logo on. It's more authentic that way. The master builders always put diamonds before logos. It might even be a Federal Law.....lol
Man the pickups are very nice. I have not adjusted anything at all. I need to raise up the neck pickup and balance it out.
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I'd raise the pole pieces until they are just flush with the covers. Should really help with tone
Put the decal on after paint b4 Polly but looks good just might not stay on
I need to try again. My decals always seem to bubble when I spray em.
Cheesy
I agree
It looks like the tuning pegs on your project guitar are closer in than the real Paul, that would explain why it didn't quite fit.
Did you paint this guitar?
Yeh, built it at painted it. 😊

Dude that's awesome
Hell yeah, she's worth $5000 now! LOL
Lol! That would be the crime of the century lol
If you really don't want it to look fake you probably need to spray a clear coat over it
I would have just removed the truss rod cover then laid the decal. et it dry and put the truss rod cover back on again.
The Epiphone logo would be more forgiving as I'm fairly sure you might get some haters .. they're everywhere these days..👍
headstock should be stripped, nothing on it, cuz there is work to do before and after the decals dry and set up, before they dry you need to squeeze all the bubbles out and sure they are entirely flat.. then after curing you need to sand down the edges, then polish and buff it all up so the decals are totally transparent, it's a process for sure, trying to put decals over the top the tuners and what not? huh? how are you going to dress and polish them, buff the headstock out? looks to me as if the headstock isn't perfectly flat as well, so the surface wasn't prepped accordingly to have a transparent decal..
you want you decal material thick and made out of cellulose so it can be sanded and polished for total transparency, after time those decals willfilm up and get foggy, edges will grow, there are one or two videos I have seen on youtube that show how to do these proper so they look and remain perfect, have to start with the right decal and prep the headstock perfectly as well
Use citric acid next time
Thank you! 😎
*Logo - is good, but diamond - looks bad. Very close to peg.*
Pingky😂
You should have done the diamond first. The PINKLET LOOKS GOOD. JOB WELL DONE.
You should put your own logo or initials.🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Bro should of got silver
