Remember seeing the scenes with Pat & Kathy fixing the electrics when this was new, and I was only the age of 6 at the time! Them celebrating with the dancing around has always stuck with me.
I was 3 so wouldn't remember. Years later I watched it on classic eastenders a couple of years back and it was funny
Loved this, what a gripping story especially with the phil part, eastenders was truly something, how has it fallen so far??

The extras that played the other AA blokes looks on their faces changed when Patrick opened up about he's dad
I miss Pat so much. And Max Bowden's Ben is so much like a young Phil.

It was all down to Phil childhood and his father. he was very bad drunk and he would abuse Peggy Grant Phil and Sam. And the reason Phil and Grant grew up acting like there dad drink cheating fights ect
i want more of Grant and Tiff, and Christmas episodes of 1996 and 1997
With the AA group in this episode with Patrick picking phil to be hes dad, phil knew exactly what he was going through. Patrick reminded phil of him and grant growing up with a drunk as a father and knocking peggy him and grant about. Thats why he had alot of respect for Patrick
Love seeing Pat and Kathy having fun. Usually Kathy is so put upon and sulky looking.
Eastenders was good then
Kathy mentioned all of the crap men, that she had in her life. She made it sound like she never had a good man, but she did have Pete Beale who loved her and was good to her.
What happened to pete?

Pete controlled her and didn't like her having an ounce of independence.
Petr treated her like dirt and didn’t like her having a life outside family
Even she said to pat on the day that she left, in front of Pete's grave, he was the best ❤
I mean he was right he was terrible to ben and nicer to louise
Phil mocked Ben as too soft and now Ben's worse than him, way worse. He was soft on Louise because she was his daughter but he also approved of keanu who was with Louise as keanu was how he wanted ben to be. Even with the stealing cars. Even Louise said she wanted keanu to be like her dad so she could keep buying nice clothes and nice things

She never mentioned Pete Beale and they were a lovely couple.
Yes he was never mentioned again after they killed him off.
Pete couldn't support her after she was attacked. So not sure how great their relationship was. Maybe before that. Phil and Kathy were great at the start, really in love. She forgave him many things including Sharon and he thought she always would but she didn't and she left him. Then married Sharon's biological father gavin off screen and said he made her pretend to be dead. So her taste in men got worse
Oh Cathy so relieved.

Phil and Kathy were the cutest. Sharon belonged with grant or Dennis. Grant abused her so Dennis. Phil became an alcoholic and just got worse. So bitter and twisted after Kathy left him. Phil was so horrible to ben as he grew up that he became worse than Phil

Phil was really pathetic in these days. Always crying that Kathy was neglecting him for Ben. 🙄
He was crying because Ben reminded him of his old man & also his abusive childhood.
@@ClassicEnders1985 he was jealous as well. Saying Kathy never had time for him anymore because she was looking after THEIR child which Phil never helped with. He left it all to Kathy yet moaned she neglected him! 🙄
@@startracker5895 You are right, what he did to Kathy & Ben was out of order. But the thing was being physically abused by a parent is one of the most hurtful things to ever happen in your childhood & can affect you in life, Phil experienced that. Grant never did but he saw what his dad did to their mom & his bro.
@@startracker5895 Also Kathy deserved better! Phil was crying his eyes out because he got his comeuppance from Grant. Mate, what really confuses me about these Mitchells is that they always talk about family, when there are just deranged people who share DNA (always act innocent) never admit their guilt, Grant had a happy life in Brazil after leaving Walford!
Phil is a hardman but really loved kathy. Many men are jealous of their wives' attention going to the baby. It is pathetic. He even was jealous of Kathy's niece Sarah coming to stay once when she couldn't get on with her dad. But he drove away Kathy with his alcoholism. Grant did the same. He was violent because he was insecure that Sharon and Tiffany would leave him and they did. He should have sought help
