  • The Best Motorcycle Roads in North America | Part 1: Numbers 6 - 10
    After traveling around the US and Canada for the last 14 years, I have had the opportunity to ride some of the great roads North American has to offer. While I have not yet had the chance to ride all of them, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of my top 10 Best Motorcycle Rides in North America.
    This video starts the count down and covers roads 6 through 10.

    Highway 33 in Southern California, from Ojai up over Pine Mountain to Maricopa is a fun technical ride. The Devil’s Highway in southeastern Arizona, from Alpine south to the Morenci Mine, is my all-time favorite fun motorcycle road.

    We really enjoyed Big Horn also. We rode 14 in from the east (I-90) to Greybull, 20 south to Manderson, 31 and 49 to cut the corner over to Ten Sleep, then 16 east back to I-90. 14 and 16 are both fantastic.

    not the typical list, and that is good. I don't need 50 people giving me the same 10 roads.

    I have to say Craig this video makes me happy and sad..... I'm glad that you got to see these roads and experience these places on your Coming of Age 60 Days trip (and some of your other tours)...some of it with your wife, so you could share the experience. I'm sure the the BMW K1600 is a great bke ....I'm sure you did it for all the right reasons, but I could never have let that Victory go, especially after a trip like that... (I've watched all your videos, so I know the 'history') I love BMW's ... I have done since I rode a demo R100 RT back in the '70s but I doubt the K1600 will ever have the charater of your Victory. Loving the videos... as always....

      Thank you! The Vision was a great bike for us, but it was time for something new. Eventhough we no longer have the bike, we always have the memories. Now we will make new ones on the Beemer.

    One of my favorites is not well-known and we came across it by accident. It is Sherman Pass road in Southern California. We had visited Sequoia National Park and were headed towards Death Valley. I think I did a shortest route on the Garmin and got routed up Sherman pass road which then ran into 9 mile canyon road. Simply spectacular with almost no traffic at all. One of the best roads I’ve ridden outside of the Swiss Alps and Italian Dolomites.

    • @LivingOffTheSlab
      @LivingOffTheSlab  3 роки тому

      Sometimes those accident roads turn out to be great. We got detoured off the Blue Ridge on to 30 and it was fantastic. We also had a similar experience to you and go off on a mountain road in California that was equally enjoyable.

    Excellent pair of videos! Two of your best ever, IMHO. Funny, I've done four of the top five and only one of the second group of five. Regardless, the videography makes me ache that the riding season is so close to ending and winter will seem endless. Really good stuff Craig! I would add the Texas Road that follows the Rio Grande from Presidio to Terlingua, extreme southwestern part of the state. Up and down, hard rights and long curves for about 50 miles which, along the rock outcrops, can have some annoying bits of loose gravel after a windy day! Riders beware, but the "Grand Canyon of the Rio Grande" is fantastic with minimal traffic. End with a brisket burrito at "The Bean" in Presidio.. You'll need to force yourself to leave the restaurant, but the ride is worth it.

    couple Items when you do the Big horn Mtn's you need to add 14A that takes you to the Bighorn Canyon, then go north on 37 to Devils Canyon for spectacular scenery .
    Also if you have the time we rode to Neah Bay in the NW corner of Washington state and rode the 101 through Wash and Oregon, and Calif also the 1/ PCH all the way to Long beach. At Fortuna CA hang a left on 36 for another great road, At Redway CA hang a right and ride to Shelter Cove great road with a great view once you get to Shelter Cove .
    I have ridden the roads in your video great choices. as we all know to many roads to pick from

    Great video. When you get ready to head to Mexico, let me know. A buddy of mine went back in 2016. I’d be glad to share where we went and what were the best roads we traveled. Planning the trip was difficult and for you, with your attention to details, it will be even more challenging. You’ll have to be fluid and flexible. Over all the roads were in good condition that we traveled on. But the next time I go down there, I will be taking my Super 10 instead of the RoadGlide.

  • @LivingOnCash
    @LivingOnCash 3 роки тому

    Shhhh, don't tell everyone about our secret roads! :)
    Why did you stop the PCH ride at Albion? You were just short of Mendocino and Ft Bragg. Should have continued on to at least Leggett where Highway 1 runs back into 101. That last 20 miles or so stretch where it runs inland to Leggett is amazing. Heck, for that matter, you can just take Highway 1 all the way to Washington. The Oregon coast is spectacular with little traffic.
    I live near Lake Tahoe on the NV side. Some of the pass roads in the Sierras are great too. I do Monitor Pass (highway 89) frequently and if you go mid-week you can get a good ride with no traffic. Ebbetts (highway 4) too.
