Use Canon Lenses with Sony Cameras…Kinda

- The Sigma MC-11 adapter lets you connect Canon EF lenses to Sony's E Mount system. Sigma lenses have the ability to use autofocus in Video Mode, but Canon lenses don't (they work, but you have to manually focus them).
But in Photo Mode ALL lenses have continuous autofocus...so to me this means that there's no reason it shouldn't also work in Video Mode with Canon lenses. I Canon't believe it.

Meike just made a drop in adapter with vnd for ef lenses on sony cameras, apparently it should work great with autofocus in video... when i see reviews, if it is good, i will switch from my R6 to the fx3... mainly for the dynamic range...
Hi there, I was wondering if you could lend some help. I purchased a Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM lens for my a6000 and purchased an EF-NEX Lens adapter. Is there a way to auto focus it as it does not seem to focus at all.. ):

I can't get my a6000 to properly manually focus any old lens, it connects but no autofocus, when using manual focus, it's always blurry. Hoping to find auto focus for video using vintage lens
It’s a kicker for those canon people trying to move over to Sony. A lot canonot afford to replace all their lense and buy a new body.
Tom you should try viltrox eF-NEX IV and try to fing the test version firmware tried with 16-35mm L mark I work really really great

I Canon't believe that it was on sale on BH the other day and I didn't get it for my Sony A7siii to put on my ef sigma 18-35 F1.8 *Sigh* 😪
It’s great overall, just wish Canon AF worked in video! But sigma lenses work flawlessly.

The sigma 18-35 Is for apsc so on the a7s III you would have black borders
Still works better than the Metabones adapter!
Does it? I have the MetaBones for my Canon R and it works pretty good, but autofocus is super slow.
@@tombuck I've had mine for probably 5 years. As far as I know it barely AFs even in photos let alone video
Hi, possibly a dumb Question, but better to get it cleared before investing into Sony.
So I am long time canon user, 12 years, so I have a decent number of canon lenses and 3 Samyang(Rokinon) lenses.
Samyang lenses are manual focus so no issue, but is there absolutely no way that I can get canon lenses to autofocus in video mode ?
Use the 7artisans EF-SE Lens. This will keep autofocus on all canon and sigma lenses
I actually tried this one and the autofocus turns off while recording and/or with HDMI output 🤦🏻♂️

It works great with Sigma lenses, just not Canon...but clearly it's capable 🤔

Does this allow for IBIS + Lens IS to work in photo mode? I have tried it with the metabones adapter, but it does not play nice and I can only get one or the other
That works for me. I don't shoot video only stills and landscapes
Or you can use the 7Artisans adapter that cost half of what the MC11 is, instead and get autofocus both when filming and taking still photo's....

from what i heard it is Canon who asked the convertor manufacturers to disable some features. And yes, they are greedy that's why i will sell all my canon stuff and will switch completely to sony.
