I like that you aren’t a makeup artist. I like that you struggle with the same issues as the average user. It makes me more comfortable with your recommendations because makeup artists make it look amazing and I get the palette and struggle. At least with you I have a good idea on what reality is when using it.
Ditto ladies, I don't enjoy seeing her have a hard time its not nice to witness that. Then again this is her job good makeup, bad makeup. We get the real person and hard to work with products. Now what 'honest' lady at the cosmetic counter will show the cons as honestly as Jen.
You probably dont give a damn but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
A tip for using darker shades - don't use big fluffy brushes, use dense small brushes. To blend out, use a small blending brush and just go around the edges. Alternatively you could use that shade as a liner or pop on the lower lash line
I like that the darks are buildable and sheer out. On my skintone as being real pale, it is easier to add then take off. That is what I like about the Naked Line in general.
I did purchase it and I think it’s my favorite Urban Decay palette ever! Mine blended just beautifully, I did spray my brush to put on the shimmer shades and did pack on the product before blending but it worked like a dream. Sorry yours was a struggle, its such a beautiful palette!
Our pockets appreciate much your comparisons! 😊 I am not purchasing makeup for some time anyway but the colour story is very pretty. Now seeing your video, I am just so happy that it is so similar to the Dream St. and the born to run (I have the CColors dupe which it is great) 😁 And it actually reminds me of the Secret Palette from Nabla. I don't think it is a dupe but most of the shades that I would use from the UD palette look similar to the shades that I use more from that one 😏
I have the CColor Around the World (Born to Run) so I think I’m good, even though this color story is actually really pretty. Love all the comparisons!
I just wanna say that I love your application demonstrations! My skill level is beginner, so it helps to see how someone with average but not professional skills applies makeup. That isn’t meant as a dig to you, I mean that watching professional MUA’s doesn’t help me because they could make anything look good! I want an easy palette that even with my limited skills can still look good, and your demonstrations are almost always able to tell me if a palette is the one for me!
I’m so glad you did the side by sides! I was thinking of picking this up, but I have the Born to Run palette. Now I feel inspired to play with that instead!
I am really considering this palette. I feel like you would need to put your lighter crease colors first and blow them out and then add the dark colors and pack them on precisely where you want them, and not blend them. That way you have the impact of the dark color you want without sheering it out. But I am no makeup artist, just a make lover who enjoys playing with makeup. Some days I start an eye look, don’t like it and start over me get a pretty look. Love your reviews ❤️
Great comparisons I appreciate your honesty. For myself when I use tape I find the adhesive leaves an inexplicable invisible film or something that causes me to not be able to easily blend the corners, however if I waited a minute for the area the tape was on to dry or lightly set over the area then blend that helps. Also don't use the tape straight from the roll, put the tape on your hand & peel a few times before putting on your face so the adhesive isn't as strong so that you so get the effect but not the leftover adhesive.
I loved second look. I've got the UD Wild West palette I love it. My son bought it for me. The newer one I'm more excited for After Dark it looks really good colors. Not available yet.
Thank you for all the comparison swatches!!! 🤗 I have the born yo run palette and I barely ever reach for it, I’ll play with some more to see if this would be a color story I would gravitate towards. And THANK YOU for doing several looks with this palette! I love to see how the colors perform from Someone that’s not a professional... and btw, I think you have really good skills! More than you give yourself credit for!!!
A great review. So glad you showed us similar pallets. Since I have Born to Run, no need to buy this one. I will wait for another review!!! Thanks for your detailed review. Appreciate your time and effort 🌺
Thanks so much! You made me realize how drawn I am to the same colors. The dupes you chose all happened to be on my wishlist for pallets and I just bought the ucanbe dupe for born to run. You saved me lots of money lol!
I like this color story but I can find all these shades in my collection already, so this is going to be a wait-til-it-goes-on-sale-black-friday palette for me.
I love that middle look on you. I also appreciate your honesty regarding the struggle with blending. We are not all make up artists, soooo we will likely be struggling too. Thank you for another wonderful video.
As someone who only owns 3 palettes currently, and two of them are Born to Run and Dream St., I just can’t justify buying this palette for $50. This review really helped me to see the dupes for this within my own collection, and also let me see that I’m weak to mostly nude palettes with pops of blue apparently, haha.
I think this palette is beautiful but I do have the CP Dreamstreet and Salvaje. I don't like the snake skin packaging as I have a snake phobia. I actually had to attend a therapy session for it . I love UD palettes, they're my favorite high end palette. I was a teen ager in the early 90s when UD was established and they were carrying grungy colors.. worked well with Doc Martens! Hahaha
Oh wow I'm the same way with spiders, haha. Thankfully most products don't use those! And yes! I remember UD from back then, it was definitely part of my grunge style!!
The Wild West palette had caught my eye, but I have Born to Run and Dream Street so I don’t really see any need to purchase it anymore. Thanks so much for your informative videos! I always look forward to watching your content. ❤️
I’ve got Dream Street and BTR - your comparisons are always awesome! Def don’t need this one. And I am the same way - I am not a makeup artist. I don’t need palettes that are hard to blend and build up! Loved the looks though - looks like I need to break Dream Street back out again!!
Thank you for your review, I just purchased it and used it for the first time. I really like it but I understand some of the issues. Now you gave me some great ideas, I only buy urban decay pallette so it is all I know. I love the teal and gold tones. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video. I love UD and want this palette. Thank you for the comparisons! I appreciate that you are not a makeup artist because I can relate to you. I also am not confident but I learn so much from these videos. Your looks are great! Thank you for being so raw and real.
I love this palette! I don't have any others with a similar color story and I'm still getting used to wearing bolder colors so I found this mix of cool and warm neutrals with the bold teal and bright blue very approachable. I didn't have any trouble with blending or fading but I do typically use a primer since I tend to get oily lids by the end of the day. I was really happy with the looks I created and the teal and silver looked great with my brown eyes.
Thank you for showing these dupes! I’ve been thinking about getting this one but I have Born to Run. I rarely use those blue colors, so why would I buy another palette to not use them. Great video and I love look #1
Yesterday I was in Macy's and did the unmentionable...I touched the tester..I keep looking at this 🎨 and I know I do not need it but it is so beautiful! I think you do a great job applying the eyeshadow! This palette also has an ABH subculture vibe minus the shimmery turqoise shade. I appreciate your input on the performance of this palette because something may swatch beautifully but ends up to be a struggle to blend etc. Keep these reviews coming Jen😻
I completely agree with your review! I'm debating returning this because the two shimmery shades I was excited about are patchy and hard to work with. I've tried much, much more affordable shimmers that work wonders!
Wonderful video and so helpful!! I'll definitely pass on this one but I have another question: Would you (and maybe others here) still recommend the UD Born to Run palette? I've been eyeing this one for years now, but never bought it. And by now I am unsure if it's still up to today's standards and worth the money 🙈 some input would be really appreciated ☺️💕
That's a good question because like I mentioned in the video I really enjoyed that one a lot when it came out but now the formula doesn't seem as great. It could be that back then it was a good formula but now that they keep getting better, it doesn't seem as nice as it used to be. If you like the shades, CColor Cosmetics makes a great dupe called Around the World. It's super inexpensive ($13 plus CCBEAU10 for 10% off). It's a way to try out the color story without spending all the money on the UD and it's a nice formula too! www.ccolorcosmetics.com/products/around-the-world
Wonderful review! I loved the palette comparisons and all of the looks were so wearable! I'm not buying this one but you definitely gave me some inspiration to recreate the looks with my own stash :)
Great review and super helpful. I think with my BTR dupe and the Jewel Rocks, I can dupe the vibe if not the exact colors and I like those formulas. Thank you!
I wasn't sure about this palette with the mixed reviews. Thanks for the comparisons, I have the Born to Run and the colors are very similar. I do like the colors in the Wild West, so if I decide to get this I might wait when it goes on sale, and then maybe get it. Thanks for your looks, I really like the combinations you came up with, my favorite is the gray silver look.
I wonder how the Matte turquoise in the Huda palette would blend with the Turquiose shimmer int eh Wild West palette. Might have to test them together.
WOW! Thank you for the comparisons! I have the born to run and dream street. My first Naked palette I ever bought was the reloaded. I also own honey. I’m torn now ... do I get it because it’s UD or not? LOVE the packaging. Great video, thanks Jen ❤️😘🇨🇦
Oh wow! I would have never thought of the elf Retro Paradise palette being so similar to the UD one! I absolutely adore the elf one so I don't think I need the UD one. You always save me some money with these videos 😊
Thanks for this review Jen, you answered a lot of my questions and I do have a couple of the palettes you used I the comparisons. So you just saved me some money there 😁.
Thanks for your great review. I have the born to run palette and when I saw this it immediately drew a raised eyebrow. Regardless I am a HUGE makeup lover, but I know I have got to stop purchasing palettes because they are new. You certainly saved me some money and got a new subscriber.
When compared with very affordable makeup companies (like COLOURPOP, CCOLOR or ALTER EGO) you can see price does not necessarily equal quality. UD needs to step it up for $50 😒
Thank you for the review!!! Not many Urban Decay palettes catch my eye but this one did! I ordered it the day after it was released (a week and a half ago), but because of the winter storm and Texas being unbelievably unprepared for it (we went 36 hrs without power in below freezing temps the whole time 🥶) it’s still in transport 😩. I can’t wait to get mine and play with it and now am prepared for what to expect and what to try when applying thanks to you 😉❤️
OMG thank you! I have been lusting for this palette since launch but you just showed me I literally already have every color I wanted in my UD Born to Run palette (And embarrassing I have to admit to myself that I was totally being blinded by the beautiful packaging 🤪). Truth be told, I struggle with the dark blue getting messing in the BTR as well.
I love the UD formula, but I have several palettes that I need to show a little more love before I buy this one as a replacement palette. (I made a rule that I can’t buy any more palettes until I let go of 2-3 currently in my collection. Working on panning Reloaded & Petite Heat right now.)
Naked pallets make me angry 😂 I'm still using my 3 yr old cColor Around the World because that blue is fantastic. I am glad you didn't spend your money on it. Thanks for showing alternates
Hi Jen! Thanks for showing us that you struggled w/the shadows, the vast majority of us aren't makeup artists so you're problems are likely what we'll encounter too.
Thx for the review! I’m not sure what is up with UD, but this is the second palette in a row from them where the shades preform so inconsistently (the other was ultraviolet). I’ll be skipping this one. I’ve got and love Dream St, so I’m glad you compared that one!
Wow, Urban Decay really did that. They selected some shades from an existing palette (Born to Run) and proceeded to shoehorn them into the Naked line. I am kind of irrationally angry about this. It's a whole new level of BS as regards that line. Like, there hasn't been anything "Naked" about it in a pretty long time, but this is above and beyond their other shenanigans. Thanks for the work you do with dupes and swatches, it's really helpful. There's no way I am buying this - because I think this was a shady thing to do, and because I had already figured the quality wouldn't be where I need it to be based on reviews and demos of the Ultraviolet palette (a color story which was even more compelling to me than this one). I have very high expectations of what the quality of a $45 palette ought to be, and this ain't it. Mostly what caught my attention was that deep gorgeous teal shade, though I guess I enjoy the idea of a Wild West theme and several of the other shades (excluding those which I find utterly abhorrent, which is a nonzero number, lol). I'm glad to have options. The CP Dream Street palette looks pretty good to me, although I know they like to discontinue palettes a lot, so I'm not sure if it's anything they have hanging around the warehouse. I haven't noticed it in my preview CP website perusals. The Elf might be good, which is interesting since I found the Retro Paradise palette pretty uninteresting before. Maybe the packaging and marketing played a role. Tbh, this is pretty far outside my usual palette preferences, which is possibly a good thing. I wonder if a Born to Run dupe might be ideal, if the CP is unavailable. I saw another commenter mention the Ccolor one. Anyway - thanks, Jen, for this video and others like it. This stuff really helps me decide which releases I should pursue, considering I'm on a very limited budget. I appreciate it.
Thank you for the review! The best I’ve watched so far! I am still torn on this palette and do not have the palettes with similar colour stories- I’m essentially wanting it for the pretty packaging and the two blue colours, how lame is that!? I appreciate the heads up on the challenges 💜
Thank you so much! I knew I’d get an honest review from you. I think I’m going to skip this one and save up for a Natasha Denona palette. Something that has an amazing color story with less fuss.
No wonder I really love this color story. I have most of the pallets you compared it to! Now I know I don’t need it, for sure. Not sure if I’ll be able to resist when it goes on sale, though.... lol!
Nice to know this is very similar to the born to run (for which I own CColor's dupe). When I first saw this new Naked palette I didn't really feel captivated by it because to me they are a bunch of warm tones, with a couple grey/blueish tones. I think they could've been a bit more original.
This is really interesting, I'm tempted to buy the Wild West. Not so much because I love it more because I'm falling into the trap of needing to complete my naked collection. However, i have Born to Run. It's my least favourite and least used pallet. So do I really need the Wild West? 🤔
I loved this color story but seeing how much you struggled with the colors blending away, I think I'm going to pass. Great review. Thanks for being so thorough
Thank you so much for your comparison. I was going to buy this but I have the Born to Run palette and clearly they are too close to need both. You have saved me a wasted purchase.😀
Thank u so much for the comparison!! I have the Huda retrograde palette and this UD Wild West palette wasn’t really calling my name ... i decided to get the BH cosmetics BFF alondra & Elsy collection 🙈 and I’m still playing around with the ( Holiday) BH cosmetics Naughty & Nice palettes & also the Beauty Creations x Murillo Twins Collection ( minus the bronze and blush palette) .... I have so many palettes... that i have yet to use up... I think I’ll pass on this one & do my best to do a no buy makeup for this year!! 🤞😣🤞
@@JenPhelps there is!! I just feel like brands need to take a break from all the releases!! It’s like you get the newest palette and a do a review on it and then a few days later another new palette has just been made ! It’s too much! 😓😓😓 we need to give the palettes we already own some really good use!! And come up with different looks so that we don’t end up compulsively buying every palette we see come out! I feel like it’s gotten out of hand! 😩😩 I love BH cosmetics, but as someone mentioned, they’re starting to become like the colourpop brand ( that comes out with a new palette which seems like every day...) and I feel like certain brands are starting to follow that trend... 😓😓😓😓😓😓😓
I love that you are always duping new palettes! The color story is beautiful but i won’t purchase it coz of the price tag. Might go for one of your dupe suggestions!
Thanks for the review and looks...I was planning to get Wild West but I'm going to skip it since I have the Elf Retro Paradise palette- I'll save the money for Club Nebula instead.
Thanks for your review on this. It doesn’t look like anything extraordinary. On another makeup brand topic, I was browsing Nordstrom Rack and saw that they have some Zoeva palettes for $10.97. They offer ship to store now (to Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack) if you don’t want to pay for shipping. I ordered two palettes to try and have been watching your old Zoeva reviews 😊 I hope they are user friendly palettes 🙂
When I saw this palette, the wet n wild cosmic collision kinda came to mind as well as the makeup revolution forever flawless optimum palette. I would love to see swatches with those two side by side
You do such thorough reviews and comparisons. I was intrigued by this palette, but seing the similarities with the Born to Run palette, I really don't need it. The formula in my (newer) BTR is smooth and easy to Work with.
Love this kind of review video and all the comparisons! Very helpful. I have the born to run and they look similar enough for me not to make this new purchase.
I like that you aren’t a makeup artist. I like that you struggle with the same issues as the average user. It makes me more comfortable with your recommendations because makeup artists make it look amazing and I get the palette and struggle. @Sterling Braden instablaster :)
I think this palette is so pretty. I'm not going to buy it, but to me, it's a beautiful color story.
A tip for using darker shades - don't use big fluffy brushes, use dense small brushes. To blend out, use a small blending brush and just go around the edges. Alternatively you could use that shade as a liner or pop on the lower lash line

Great review! I had not even thought of the Born to Run palette having so many similar shades. The comparisons were very helpful.
Spraying your finger is a great tip I’d never thought of! Thank you Jen! I do love this palette. The colors are beautiful!

Bh cosmetics is awesome too 👏
Thank you for the review!!!
Naked pallets make me angry 😂
I'm still using my 3 yr old cColor Around the World because that blue is fantastic. I am glad you didn't spend your money on it. Thanks for showing alternates
I have around the world too! it's very good quality and the price was unbeatable. ❤
Hi Jen! Thanks for showing us that you struggled w/the shadows, the vast majority of us aren't makeup artists so you're problems are likely what we'll encounter too.
Thanks for the comparison. As I have the Born to run it was wery helpfull
I love when you do your comparisons and the looks you showed us☺️
It reminds me of the Kylie blue honey palette. I just picked it up at ulta around Xmas for $12
I always enjoy your reviews and honesty
Your reviews are really really good! Congratulations ❤️ keep the hard work 😘
Thx for the review!
Not sure if I’ll be able to resist when it goes on sale, though.... lol!
I LOVE URBAN DECAY!! I can’t wait to get the Wild West eyeshadow palette!!!❤️❤️❤️
I have Born to Run so I will stick with that one. Thank you for your review!
Loved seeing the comparisons! You probably have similar shades in your eye shadow singles collection!
I never realized how blue your eyes are, kinda like sea glass. Beautiful
Aw thank you so much! :)
So many great drugstore palettes out there now!!
These comparisons were so helpful! 👍🏻
Thank you! I was waiting to see what you had to say about this one.
I hope so too! I noticed that Zoeva has gotten rid of so many palettes on their site. I wonder what is going on?!
When I saw this palette, the wet n wild cosmic collision kinda came to mind as well as the makeup revolution forever flawless optimum palette. I would love to see swatches with those two side by side
Thanks Jen. Great video. I think I'm gonna stick to my Born to Run pallette xxx
I purchased it as soon as it launched, I’m on vacation but it’s at home waiting for me and I’m so excited to use it 🤩
You do such thorough reviews and comparisons.
I was intrigued by this palette, but seing the similarities with the Born to Run palette, I really don't need it. The formula in my (newer) BTR is smooth and easy to Work with.
Not sure if I would use this but it looks so pretty. Would never use the blue but it looks lovely.
Love this kind of review video and all the comparisons! Very helpful. I have the born to run and they look similar enough for me not to make this new purchase.
Thank you Jen 👍 appreciate this. It’s $68 🇨🇦 here in Canada. That’s got to sing dance and do housework at that price!
There are similar shades to the Lorac Unzipped Ocean Sunset and a even the Mountain Sunset palette.
You're right! I decluttered those a while back.
@@JenPhelps I should declutter them, but I can't bring myself to do it. I never use them! Probably the next round they'll go!
