    This video is exactly why I chose a Decent machine. People obsessed with improving at any level, any part, something that just works consistently great. Outstanding work and yes I already upgraded the group head with these parts. Very easy and no need to flip the machine at all. Saludos !!! 😎☕️

    Just installed my new group head parts! I can’t wait to test it more. Today it seemed to have a tiny bit better balance and maybe after looking at my rusty looking brass it will keep way cleaner so maybe that is a cleaner cup with less old oil since I only back flush like every three weeks. The puck is still a little soupy but no big deal.

    Is PPS at any time capable of leaching antimony or BPA? or any other known chemicals known to possibly harm humans? I ask due to the amount of heat this part will be exposed to along with the fact that what passes by/through this part will be consumed.

    Hi John, thanks for mentioning the relationship between body and headspace. Can you comment more specifically on the improvement in body the new configuration provides for classic-style shots? Specifically, I’m curious how body from the DE1XL would compare to that from a Linea Mini for medium or medium-dark roasts ground with conical burrs and extracted with a flat 9-bar profile. Thanks for your time. -Dan

      @@huachangxu7655 he says that the MAIN POINT of using plastic and not ANY metal is due to the temperature lag caused by the metal acting as a heat sink. The move to plastic is largely to get much faster and more accurate response to the actual temp in the group head. So any metal, brass, aluminium or stainless steel would have the same negative impact.

    • @decentespresso
      @decentespresso  Рік тому +2

      @@decentespressoailliobullet5748 Exactly so. Stainless for these parts would be even worse than brass.

  • @EdmundYan
    @EdmundYan Рік тому +1

    To compensate for the brass heatsink effects, can't existing brass-users to change their algorithm to have +3-4 degree pre-infusion temps? Or another question, if you switch to the new plastic group head and your same recipe "instantly tastes better", it means the original recipe wasn't good enough and should have used a higher water temp.

    • @decentespresso
      @decentespresso  Рік тому +1

      It's more complicated than that. The brass contributes latency, which causes many effects. The video explains more.

  • @Doubie.
    @Doubie. Рік тому

    @decentespresso Honestly I’d rather see you make them out of copper or ceramics composites make it either highly sensitive to heat or resistant to heat over time I see the water slowly eroding those parts into the cup and I’d rather not drink plastic but that’s just me I don’t care if some bureaucrats say is safe
    Also the sticking of the oils is from the copper in the brass it’s one of the reasons copper is used in alcohol distillation it’s reactions to oils for example a still that’s made anything but cognac can’t make cognac because the copper has been contaminated with oils other than what would be found in cognac and would not created a suitable cognac flavor profile
    The change in flavor could be the heat or it could be the oils not reacting with the copper in the brass acting like a catalyst this is important in distillation to remove sulfur compounds but it might be harming the depth of flavor in this process

    Will the new group head reduce the soupy muddy coffee sludge and dry pucks?

    • @Mitch9378
      @Mitch9378 Рік тому +4

      He implies that right near the end around 14 minutes in . They are reducing the space between the shower head and the puck which should result in drier cleaner pucks.

    • @muggepuut
      @muggepuut Рік тому +3

      yeah it's mentioned in the description of the video:
      Reduced channeling: Less headspace above the coffee puck reduces channeling and increases mouthfeel and shot consistency.
      Also says it at the end of the video. Same as E61 machine.

    • @AM2PMReviews
      @AM2PMReviews Рік тому

      It seems to help a little after one shot today. Nothing like a dry puck.I will do a video on it. I think since it doesn’t have a traditional three way solenoid, it doesn’t do a large suction that a 9 bar machine would so after a shot turn on and suck the water away so maybe that’s why it’s not as dry.
