this is the 5th version of this song on youtube that ISN'T the right version? its different than the version i have. what's the deal? where's my version?
I have the version I think you are talking about. I ripped it years ago when uToob just started. It seems that that subtle change in the arrangement has gotten lost in translation. I noticed also that the vocals here are hard-panned to the the left. A common practice in the 50's and 60's when stereo recordings were a new invention. In contemporary recording it is generally realized that panning the voice one extreme side loses a bit of dynamic in the mix, and this would rarely be done today except certain effects. I don't remember if my version is hard-panned left or not. But i'm rippng this version now because it's such a high-quality compression for some reason. I'm almost temped to even out the stereo mix in my studio here! // Thanks for you comment of two years past! Your, _Acoustic Rabbit Hole_
@@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole... i appreciate the info but, it took some doing, but i finally found "my" version. it was on a cd series called "compact jazz: nina simone." i guess it was recorded live at vine st. bar & grill in 1987, released in 1989. when i first discovered nina i didn't know she'd been singing and recording for over 20 years. and i didn't know there was a studio version of the song. after comparing both versions i like the live version better. her vocal inflections on certain words seem better suited. but i probably wouldn't think so if i'd heard the studio version first. who knows? familiarity has such influence over our tastes and preferences. thanks for the response to my comment.
The incredible Miss Nina Simone!!❤❤❤
This interpretation is what is meant when people say "a classic." A template that has, and will continue to, inspire vocalists everywhere.
This recording is 66 years old, yet is sounds as new as the day it was recorded.
In that year I was born on 9 May🥰
Who the hell would downvote this classic? 😏👌🏽
Fans of Drake.
This was played during my student days at thé Courtauld Institute of art when there was a party. I did not know this song previously.
