The remaster is really good. Since Nightdive Studios remastered The Thing, i want Nightdive to remaster Evil Dead games from the early 2000s like. Evil Dead: Hail to the King Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick Evil Dead: Regeneration They would look amazing in the KEX engine.

Any game can be remade, but I personally believe that the same way classic movies get remaster instead of remakes for preservation. It also applies to classic games. Believe it or not, a remake can definitely mess up a game. Nightdive is famous, and they make good money with their remasters, so I'm pretty sure they have the budget for a remake. But a remake will loos it's cult classic horror feel. But that's just my opinion, of course. I know when we look at games like Dead Space remake, we think that every remaster would work. But that would depend on budget and how much time a developer is willing to spend on a game. Games like Turok can be ramade because they aren't movie oriented, so they don't have to follow a script. They can just re-imagine the entire game. I just think a lot goes into a remake.

I remember I would check my team if they were infected and they were good then two steps later they were all of a sudden infected. Lighting and graphics aside if the gameplay and AI isn’t improved Im probably going to pass on this.

If they implemented a dynamic infection system your entire team would probably be wiped out in 2 minutes. The first time I played the original game when I was younger I was also expecting a system like that and was a little disappointed, but now that I'm a little older it seems fairly obvious why the developers couldn't do it.

Or at least that should have been the case. Back in 2002, this was literally impossible as the story called for certain parts where a character or two would transform, so while some transformations were random, some of the mystery was taken out of the game simply by the way the story had to play out. Nightdive did something unique to try to fix this dilemma. Now, the scripted transformation sequences have been adjusted by certain characters cracking up (that is, succumbing to the fear system in the game so badly that they can’t operate). I wouldn’t call it a perfect fix, but I would say it adds a bit of mystery back to the game in a way we didn’t have before about who will turn and when.” What ruined the original for me was ultimately it was far too scripted, who got infected/changed and when… Wow and if they changed this - it had my money!!!
I've watched alot of reviews of TTRm, and this is the only review that has categorically answered the important questions that owners of the original wanted to know - the most important being the forced scripted changes.
I must warn you there are still a few, its not perfect, only the really bad scripted ones have been removed but the game is largely the same aside from the ones I show in the video.
Personally, I don’t think this game holds a completely “classic“ status for that reason I think I would preferred a remake. That gives us that dynamic experience that we were wanting first time round. To be a little bit more open, more emergent. Graphics updated controls. I mean, resident evil too is a good example of how to remake a classic game.
I'm liking the changes, and for me the biggest issues look to be fixed. Like the controls, and the infected as well as keeping the team alive. Cuz i can't tell you how much it would tick me off, that I'd bust my ass to make sure no one was infected and everyone lived to the next stage. Night Dive has peovwn to me they know how to do remasters very well. Now, I'm hoping they will get the kicense to properly remaster the Resident Evil Outbreak games.
I hope the AI and the janky hit detection from the bosses are fixed and that they cut the amount of goddamn fuse boxes by half! Man that game was a disappointment. Plus, fingers crossed for a nightdive treatment for the suffering and freedom fighters.

This remaster addressed the biggest issue in the original i.e, they removed scripted infections. That alone is worth it for me, not to mention the other quality of life improvements.
