Thank you for the honest reviews and amazing content you put out Max. Always 'keep it real', that's something that we truly appreciate, thats what cycling needs...Cheers.
Good video as usual max . But from those side views , I would say your saddle is a good 10-20mm too high. Would love to see you do a bike fit video with bike fit James !!!
Another good video, Max. It would be interesting to do a direct comparison between this bike, a Pinarello F and a Cervelo R5(or Colnago V4RS or Trek SLR 9) etc. Pound for pound, the Van Rysel has to be the best value out there.
Good question- all I know is the BB86 I was running on my aero frame lasted about 5-6 months before needing a service. So, for something that’s a pain in the bum to service/repair/swap and as someone who likes to build their own bikes, I do favour spending money on my BB in the ‘hope’ that it lasts longer and works better. I can swap chains, stems, tape and loads of stuff on a bike, but removing a BB I’d probably the worst job you can have. Wondering if you think that’s valid?
@thewattlife I have used enduro ceramic bearings on my mountain bike , wheels and bottom bracket , lasted 6 months before they got grumpy, so went back to the stock bottom bracket and wheel bearings , my thing is ,if a ceramic bb is 4 to 6 times the price of a stock one , is it going to last 4 to 6 times longer 🤷♂️
I don’t have any experience with mountain bikes. As someone who doesn’t like riding in bad conditions I try to keep my BB as clean as possible cos I want it to feel good no matter what the watts
@thewattlife mountain bikes are for the summer , saves all the cleaning 🤣 nothing more enjoyable than riding road bikes the rain , just got to laugh about it and enjoy it , winter bike is the way forward , not a fan of riding bikes indoors seems kinda pointless
I was eagerly waiting for this review. I am a total Decathlon and Van Rysel fan boy. I am 183 and have a medium AG2R replica on order. I'm glad you like the medium but I wonder if the large would be a better fit for me. How do feel about that seatpost? It looks like it must be right on the maximum extension? Is there enough in the frame to clamp it down? Does it feel secure? Thanks for the great review!
@@thewattlife BB86 is what Trek used before they come out with the 2021 Emonda, it's the same width as T47 but can't take DUB cranks, that's why Trek was almost only Shimano pre that time, T47 allowed them to do both
According to this GCN video, the AG2R team run TPU tubes to save weight rather than go tubeless. So I think Van Rysel is trying to stay true to what the AG2R team uses. Though I wonder if yours came with TPU tubes. I'm guessing not. ua-cam.com/video/KsTFPQUvzI4/v-deo.html
Be careful withis those bike stands. They scratch the hell out of your carbon wheels. I have one. Put bubble wrap or something soft around your wheel before you park the bike in the stand.
Ridiculous price...totally unsuitable for the regents park chopper squad...no extra large jockey wheels for those vital extra through the red light watts
I had one that only lasted about 5-6 months before needing a service. Currently running a BB86 on my new bike too so will check again in Summer next year but I try not to ride it in bad weather

If the frame quality is good, then BB86 is a good option (and that Shimano BB is super reliable) → from engineering point of view. Nice video
Van rysel also do a £4500 and £5500 version which 99% would be better on
Excellent review.
Nice video and bike. Congrats 😊

Not Canyon? You can get a dura ace Aeroad for £9k too
Is a ceramic bottom bracket "the best" or just a waste of a of money for minimal return

Unless you can pedal at 100000rpm, it’s a waste of money.
How did you manage to get hold of it to test?

Clever use of the Dorney Lake Olympic Rings for a big bike review. It could be a thing…
The perks of living around the corner. It’s a shame it’s closed over the summer 😫
Looks identical to a Ribble endurance 105
Lots of bikes look like that at the moment, though
Beautiful looking bike, but yes, even if it should be "affordable" it still feels steep at 9k
Beautiful bike max my dream bike £9k 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Go for the £5500 version ❤
“Front fork” as opposed to the “rear fork”?
😂😂😂😂
Just to correct you a little bit... BB86 is the same with as T47 internal (86.5mm) but only 41mm in diameter Vs 47mm, otherwise good video ;)
His take didn't make any sense but sounds like he's comparing bearings, not the BB size
Yes, the bearing size, which is slightly narrower effectively on a BB86 than on a T47.
@@thewattlife how can you honestly tell the difference in bearing size just from riding a bike?

At $9000 a pop, I'll take two of them for eBay ✌
Not to be that guy… but errrm.. it’s £9,000 GBP. So about $11.5k
When it comes to….millimetres matter ❤
He should stick that on his tinder profile 🤣
Perhaps this needs its own tee shirt

I will giv3 you £500 for that bike. Ok

Thanks man- I’ve bought some felt and going to wrap it
Ridiculous price...totally unsuitable for the regents park chopper squad...no extra large jockey wheels for those vital extra through the red light watts
Can get a £4500 version which would be equally as good for 99% of riders
Yes you can get exactly the same frame with different Deda bar and stem combo and lower level group set for less
@@thewattlife lets have it we all like fancy stuff but most people's ability doesn't justify £9,000 .
Yes normal guys not pros...
So, as predicted, it’s the same as any other carbon race bike, but a bit less comfortable.
All those cheapskates got their hopes up for a while there…
Garbage PF86 bottom bracket standard
