  • Dan pitches 100% Ringers and I pitch a measly (ha ha) 83% Ringers for the win against the Interstate Batteries team. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.

      Our league here in Northern Illinois is starting up tomorrow, (June 11th 2020) but is down 6 teams. Hopefully they will return in 2021. That leaves us with 14 teams for the 2020 season which isn’t bad considering. Glad you found interest in the sport again. There’s a lot going on with horseshoes and Facebook. LIVE tournaments if you can’t find anything local. All you need is shoes a phone and pits. It’s called “Horseshoe Pitching Online” if you’re interested.

    When you are throwing doubles - after Team A first player throws his 2 shoes from pit 1 to pit 2, is there any rule that says that the opponents (Team B) partner (at pit 2) can or cannot call out what the Team A first thrower (from pit 1) has in the pit (point wise) before his Team B partner throws his 2 shoes?

      We are in the “A Division” and in our league we pitch against the other 2 lower divisions while giving them a maximum of 12 point handicap each game. Jerry is in a “B Division” team which only gets a 6 point handicap from us. It’s not how good a single person is...... it’s where the team sits in the total lineup. Their Captain Terry was absent on this particular night.

    can't help myself, i'll make one more comment about daddy rich comments on 30 footers.
    put the 30 footers in another league, that's the start of a slippery slope. i didn't expect you qukslvr to defend 30 footers, but don't forget you now have one on your team, and proudly so. father and daughter on the same team is wonderful and i know you love it, and should.
    i know the river rats have won your championship 5 out of 6 years or something like that.
    i believe you will be more proud of the next championship with you daughter, a 30 footer on the same winning team with her father than any of the others.
    under daddy rich comments, she would not be able to play with your team or even in the same league, unless she backs up to 40.
    where does stuff like this stop, heck let's kick out the disabled people, most will pitch from the 30 line. what about those young people (youth) kick them out also, we don't want them playing with the big boys.
    heck, don't stop here, those people are a different color, they need a league.
    women and girls, they need a league.
    sounds like to me, if your not like me or us, you need your own league.
    another one of his comments, 40 foot pitchers, that's the way it was meant to be.
    the reason we still have a NHPA and all the affiliated states associations is, they have evolved into what we have today, inclusive. everyone is welcome, i mean everyone.

    • @Qukslvr
      @Qukslvr  5 років тому

      This has been debated on Facebook many times and it goes nowhere. The only way things can ever change is if Horseshoes has a resurgence and participation booms. But for now I love that the 30 footers still stay active in the sport and their active participation keeps our sport alive. Let’s be honest. If you have a group of 4 guys in an area that practice and that get really good at Horseshoes, they to will be disliked and lower participation as well if they started showing up at every tournament not allowing anyone to win. Handicaps will be imposed and rules will be changed so that anyone can win against them. Then when all that doesn’t work there will be a rule made that anyone who practices can’t play.

    In real horse shoes the hook has to be past the pole.. and you have to count points to.. not just ringers.

    • @Qukslvr
      @Qukslvr  4 роки тому +1

      Stuart Hall yes this is true. In the NHPA the hooks have to touch each other without making contact with the stake to be counted as a ringer.
      We do count single points along with the ringers. But we play cancellation and not “count all”.

  • @stuart354

    Also real horse shoes once you hit the first ringer then you have to let opponent throw.. he also gets a chance to throw your shoe.. lot more competitive and learning techniques.. not sure why y’all don’t go by rules

      Stuart Hall once you hit the first ringer you have to let your opponent throw? Real horseshoes? Are you talking about the NHPA rules? At 4:31 was a foul shoe. Watch his foot go a good 4 inches over the foul line.

    • @Qukslvr
      @Qukslvr  5 років тому

      Daddy Rich I just checked and freeze framed it. His foot is behind the line and not in the line. The board is raised up a bit. If Dan steps on it accidentally, the next throw he would back up a bit so as to not hit the board. There are several players in our league that habitually step on the board and foul. It’s not a big deal. A few inches don’t bother us. I think the habitual offenders don’t even do it on purpose.

      @@Qukslvr True. Its just a bar league environment. Rules are never enforced.

    • @Qukslvr
      @Qukslvr  5 років тому

      There was one time I called a guy out for stepping over the line. It was a 30 footer. I told his Captain to kindly ask him, after he’s done with this game to please watch the foot fouls. I had taken some video of how far over the line he was going and it was over a foot over the line marked with paint. The captain threw up his arms right then and there and yelled “we have a complaint that we are cheating”. I was like, huh? Who’s complaining? He stopped fouling and he also didn’t get anymore Ringers that night. Totally got into his head by his own captain making a huge scene. Our team hasn’t called a foot foul since that day. We want everyone’s best game even if it means they get an extra inch or two.

    • @thetalentedmr.richie1725
      @thetalentedmr.richie1725 5 років тому

      @@Qukslvr 30'ers that foot foul are kind of despicable. They're already pitching with the advantage. I mean geez! I don't care for the 30' rule. If I can't get it to the steak at 40' feet its time to hang it up. Horseshoes is a 40' game in my opinion, and it always was. The NHPA wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for 30'ers. They make up over half of the sanction body. Sad.

    • @Qukslvr
      @Qukslvr  5 років тому

      If you feel that way about 30 footers then you'll love this...... Our league allows men to move up 10 feet at age 65 and not 70 like NHPA. Some of these guys are itching to pitch at 30 feet and begin talking about how they will move up a few years before they are eligible. The River Rats have won the Championship title 5 out of the last 6 years without any 30 footers on the team. We are very proud of that fact.
