And without them, Megadeth doesn't have the success they did and Mustaine acknowledges this. So, I never get this beef. I know Dave was angry, but he's not been angry a lot longer. It's almost as if this carries on because new fans discover these bands, while the old fans have been passed it for years. Master of Puppets and Rust in Peace are the literal holy grail of thrash. Even back then, none of us fans disliked one or the other based on any beef between them. We just loved them both. And to have all these classic albums come out within a few years was a gift. People can have their preferences, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the other. Peak Megadeth and Metallica is untouchable.
Metallica also lost it's mojo after AJFA probably because they lost the influence of Burton. Apparently, all Megadeth needs is Dave but I don't care for anything after RIP except for Psychotron because it makes me want to dance and I don't do that shit so there must be something special about it.
Dave is so good at finding good musicians. He found Junior, chris ,gar ,Jeff ,Chuck ,Menza, Marty, And now Kiko and Dirk. So many good albums and performances from all of these guys. there are probably more really good members that I forgot to mention. I once heard that the best musicians play with better musicians and Dave is doing a very good job. Master songwriter lyricist everything. Rip Gar and Nick.

Rust in Peace is basically The Godfatber of technical speed/thrash metal albums. The Rust In Peace tour (This video) they were on another level, and this is an absolute master class on live metal execution. Superb line up, absolutely melting faces off.
Yeah man this show in particular was definitely the time to go see megadeth in they're prime. Very smooth and efficient playing. Most importantly still young and creative. Just totally on 🔥🔥
Justice is as technical a metal album there is. Now I know why James wore a mullet and took a shit on the alt rock world in the 90's. Any metal head sees this album as superior in some ways, but seriously; why the fuck does everybody leave Justice out of these conversations. As a bass player myself, fuck the bass in heavy metal. It's literally the least important instrument in the genre, hence why Lars is consistently shit on since not practicing since 1990.

I'm 25 and a huge fan, although slightly younger than most super fans. I saw Megadeth live for the very first time in September 2021 with Lamb of God. I was in the pit, not 15 feet from the stage. I had an absolute blast. They played amazingly, and Dave's vocals were surprisingly on point, albeit lacking some of the power I've heard on the CD's. My biggest issue (besides the lack of Ellefson) was the setlist they played. I would have killed to hear them play this exact setlist. They played a lot of newer songs, which I do actually like, but they mostly favored the more popular songs when they played older stuff. They played, in order: Prince of Darkness, Hangar 18, Sweating Bullets, She-Wolf, Trust, Conquer or Die!, Dystopia, Tornado of Souls, Symphony of Destruction, Peace Sells, Holy Wars. My dream setlist, in no particular order: Wake up Dead Take No Prisoners Ashes in Your Mouth Lucretia New World Order In my Darkest Hour Dystopia Good Mourning/Black Friday Endgame Black Swan (Demo version) Holy Wars

Marty and Nick are just on fire in this video. So great to see. I never really listened to Megadeth until 1994. They didn't get much radio airplay, we couldn't get cable (for Mtv) where I lived, my parents weren't going to buy any albums for me (they threw away the Metallica, White Snake, and Pearl Jam albums others got for me) and I was too poor to afford to buy the albums myself. So I really missed them at their peak. I'm happy to say that I finally saw Megadeth in concert in May and they blew me away.
Dave was the embodiment of Metal at that time. His guitar style, his hair, his voice and how he moves was so fucking hot as hell. And he still has a natural authority on stage like no other frontman. This man is a real living legend and my definitive role model in every sense. Yes, I love you Dave!!

Well, between Mustaine and Cliff - that was the bulk of the "classic" Metallica. James couldn't even play in the beginning. Lars has been slowly UNlearning his instrument since Justice. I'd put money on Cliff making a successful band in this hypothetical. Two years late to reply* haha.

I grew up with the old 80s megadeth but they arn't the same since marty and nick left. .. the early 90s megadeth was pure OWNAGE!

He totally aced it though! lol
Megadeth have always between great. It's just this lineup was iconic. The footprint is so incredible that replacements like Kiko and Dirk are living in their shadows.

My god, the tempo Dave set on Take No Prisoners was devastating! I feel sorry for the rest of the band! As a side point, when you listen to Daves guitar playing, hes very good, & his vocals are what they are.. but when you combine the ability to both sing AND seperate his playing like that.... AND write some damn good songs.... Jaw dropping.
Mesmerizing.. I just watched this speechless.. No f-king smartphones in hands, just \w/ in the air! Just bare pure thrash! Guitarists then played like almost literally cuttng sparks ang blizes out of guitars :) That is how metal is supposed to be, and used to be done!

I saw them the night before or after this in Dayton opening for Priest's Painkiller tour with Testament, in a 4k seat arena. My ears rang for days after and haven't been the same since. One of the best concerts I have ever seen
I saw him at a gig about 2 weeks ago. He still does it, he's a beast on stage! In the interviews he looks like he's stoned all the time but on stage it's like something takes over him.

I remember dave saying he didn't like Marty at the first audition because he has 2 colors in his hair... then he said he was taught ROCK 101 by marty... Marty is the man! Even to this day when he's over in Japan doing his thing, he's still the best exotic scale painter and rocker than there ever was. !!!!! I grew up with the old 80s megadeth but they arn't the same since marty and nick left. .. the early 90s megadeth was pure OWNAGE!
+Brad Cruse No, he said that HE TAUGHT Marty Rock 101, i.e changing his hair color, buying him new shoes & clothes etc. Also, Marty wasn't familiar with the rhythm-style of Megadeth, he said in a recent interview that the original Megadeth stuff was difficult to learn at first, because it was so unfamiliar to him.. He totally aced it though! lol
Megadeth have always between great. It's just this lineup was iconic. The footprint is so incredible that replacements like Kiko and Dirk are living in their shadows.

My god, the tempo Dave set on Take No Prisoners was devastating! I feel sorry for the rest of the band!
As a side point, when you listen to Daves guitar playing, hes very good, & his vocals are what they are.. but when you combine the ability to both sing AND seperate his playing like that.... AND write some damn good songs.... Jaw dropping.

I saw them the night before or after this in Dayton opening for Priest's Painkiller tour with Testament, in a 4k seat arena. My ears rang for days after and haven't been the same since. One of the best concerts I have ever seen
