@@matteomagurno3068 No, not at all. I mean to say that I wouldn't have played the piece the same way, but that doesn't affect my opinion of him as a player.
He actually manages to make the harpsichord sound smooth - playing with structured rhythm rather than the ridiculous exaggeration of every phrase that the average player is taught to do in order to sound "correct". This is proof that you can play how you like to play, let the instrument decide how it wants to speak!
I am able to play this piece, however, I am nowhere skilled enough to add my own little details, unlike this man. Honestly impressed with his performance and I hope to see more!
Justin, you kicked something all over the block with this. The Cool is All On You. From the video, I needed how you played that one repeating, intricate passage on the same, lower keyboard. I read somewhere that Scarlatti (with, thank you, that many comparably virtuosic sonatas) only used single-manual harpsichords. Until today, I'd only seen that happen once, in a semi-local concert. Musical illiterate that I am, it's very cool to see the same fingering techniques transition from Scarlatti to Rameau (or did it go the opposite way?).
Any reason why Rameau's Les Cylopes and Moyreau's Les Cyclopes Forgeants Le Foudre Meurtrier D'Esculape share both similar titles and similar structures?
Bellísima interpretación. ¡Mil gracias!
I don’t have to agree with all of his decisions to know that this guy is a world-class harpsichordist.
Why do you say that? Is there any controversy?

that mini cadenza after the diminished 7th arpeggio is gold

I'm stunned. Can't imagine it performed any better.
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
What a gem this video is ! 🤯

great
Bravissimo!
Nice playing; superb instrument. Pity about the over-busy camera-work though. Thanks for the upload.
Isn't this the instrument used by Scott Ross at the Chateau?
Un brin rapide non !?

Je me suis posée la même question et on dirait bien qu'il s'agit de la même pièce !
Ja… ik geloof dat de Fransman gelijk heeft met zijn commentaar
