- It's June 2002, and Rhode Island is waiting for a verdict.
Providence Mayor Vincent “Buddy” Cianci Jr. is charged with corruption in Operation Plunder Dome.
After a seven-week trial, Cianci was found guilty of conspiracy but acquitted of most of the charges.
"When you heard the word 'guilty,' what went through your mind?" a reporter asked him.
"I'm not going to comment on that, that's my own personal feelings, but I felt a lot better when I heard 'not guilty' 26 times," Cianci replied.
Cianci was sentenced to more than five years in federal prison.
After his release, Cianci resumed his second career as a radio talk show host.
