Far From The Egg: First Instar Purple Hairstreak Larva

Earlier in the year I collected 12 Purple Hairstreak eggs from a fallen oak. The tree was utterly dead, and the eggs were doomed at this point. I clipped the dead branches with the eggs off, took clippings from low branches of healthy oaks, and bound the dead and living offcuts together.
In the last couple of weeks, some of the eggs have begun to hatch. The larva in this video is Sylvester, one of the more active caterpillars of the bunch.
