Lucky enough to see Dio with Sabbath 3 times, Heaven and Hell twice, and solo 5 or 6. First three albums, multiple times each. Black Sabbath with Bill at least 4 times. Metallica with Cliff twice. Saw the Lightning tour with WASP and Saint in a 300 seat bar in Cincy. Helloween on the mentioned tour twice and with other tours 4 other times. Aerosmith at least 10 times starting in the mid-70s. Celtic Frost a few times. I was on the crew for part of the Cold Lake tour. You didn't miss much on that one! Venues were less than 10% full ( on average) in the east coast/midwest and they only did one show in SoCal on the west coast due partially to the drummer's illness. They played in the Country Club in Reseda. I think they drew like 50 people and the venue didn't even turn the house lights off when Celtic started.
5) AC/DC with Bon Scott, I was 10 when he died and had already been to a few rock/metal concerts with my dad but seeing AC/DC live would have to wait until October 8, 1981 at Winnipeg Arena and Brian Johnson was the frontman. 4) Pink Floyd, Vancouver they had a huge concert at the brand new BC Place Stadium in June '84 with a huge laser show, my dad took my step-mom but not me because he didn't think I liked them. 3) Damageplan, coulda, woulda, shoulda. 2) Alice Cooper. I just never got into Alice until recently due to his ex-lead guitarist Nita Strauss, the lady can shred. I had tickets to his 2020 show in Winnipeg but it was cancelled due to Covid. 1) The most regret is Black Sabbath, my dad's all-time favourite band. My dad had tickets for us to see them in September '83 with Quiet Riot in Vancouver, the Born Again tour with Ian Gillan from Deep Purple on vocals, but Geezer got bronchitis and the show was cancelled. My dad took took my step-mom to Vegas a couple weeks later to see them when Geezer was better but I stayed in Vancouver because of school. My uncle who I was staying with took me to see Revenge of the Ninja but it just wasn't the same.
@@ForTheSakeOfHeaviness Underrated album, sure he didn't sound like Ozzy but Ian Gillan was a great frontman and Deep Purple was also one of my dad's favourite groups so he made sure he got to see that show.
There are many bands I've had to miss or just didn't realize they were coming round but, the only one out of those mentioned was the Original Sabbath lineup in '99 at Ozzfest, glad I got to see that one...
Wish I could've seen Ramatam with April Lawton, White Witch, Cactus, Allman Brothers with Duane, Free with Paul Kossof....Hendrix, The Doors And of course the Beatles....
I feel your pain on some of those. Mine is Twisted Sister. It was towards the end of the band, I bought crazy expensive tickets for that time but they canceled the show. That was it, no other opportunities. Many other missed bands but that's the big one.
I was supposed to see them with Loudness opening (at Allentown Fairgrounds in PA) and the show was canceled :( Luckily I had seen Loudness open for Motley Crue but I never did get another chance to see Twisted Sister :( - Butch
Saw Aerosmith on Permanent Vacation tour with Deep Purple and Guns and Roses. During Purple someone torched a couple rows of seats in the lower level. Pretty wild audience at that show
I never got to see Dokken in their prime. Had third row tickets to see them open for Twisted Sister and then the tour was canceled. I did get to see Bill Ward with Sabbath December 31, 1998 in Phoenix. And I did see that Ozzy/Metallica tour twice when it rolled through Chicago.
I saw Dokken open for Loverboy in 86 and then again Monsters of Rock tour in 88. They were one of my favorite bands. If it makes you feel any better they weren't as good live as on the records. (esp on the Monsters tour)
For me Aerosmith is the killer. I finally had tickets to see them on the last tour and my parents flew out to see them in Seattle so I could take my dad because he had always wanted to see them too. He was a teen in the 70’s, but couldn’t get it to work. They came through Denver once or maybe twice in the 90’s but we couldn’t afford the tickets. So back to Seattle, there was the delay due to Steven’s voice…it was rescheduled to this November. Then show this year got cancelled before it could happen.i wish i could’ve seen them at least once. Also, i discovered Reverend Bizarre in 2005 after they toured the east coast of the US so i never got to see them either. Being positive, i got to see Alice Cooper in the 90’s twice with my dad and then got to go to see Alice, Ministry, & Rob Zombie with my son last year. Also, i got to see The Obssessed with Wino and Dave Sherman at Maryland Doom Fest. Bucket List that’ll probably never happen is King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Penance, Apostle of Solitude, Lord Vicar, and Trouble.
I was lucky to see Rev Bizarre in Pittsburgh. It was with The Gates of Slumber and Orodruin. Fun show. Other than Lord Vicar and Penance you could still have a chance to see all those bands. Penance almost did a show this year so it's never 100% out of the question. Not likely but I think most of us are open to it for the right show. - Butch

@ll7868 yeah, "...Ninja" just doesn't compare to seeing the Born Again tour. That's a rough one.

Oh yeah, and 2004.
Two faves I never saw were Nevermore and Type O Negative.
Did get very lucky in being able to see Pantera live, just once, summer of 01.

I never saw Aerosmith because I like lightening strikes and they were doing ballads by time I was old enough

Dude, guy on the left is from Milwaukee?!? Are you still involved in the Milwaukee metal scene?
Not as much as I used to be. Only book 2-3 a year anymore. The scene is healthy!
