Hey mrdewilliams :) Thanks for the kind comment. Really; notes like this fuel me in a way you would not imagine. Your observations are true, and I apologize for my silent/mysterious disappearance. I've been feeling more than guilty about it, but what's been is past, and the best I can do is try to be better going forward. Allow me to try: There will be absolutely more videos - this you can count on! At this point, I've acknowledged a setback due to a few sponsored releases, which looking back on, were a compromise to my personal values. I've been in my head a lot these days, but want to get back out there. This said, I know wanting (dreaming) is different from doing (acting), but I believe I'm working up the confidence to get back out there. Thank you (so much) for your support: that of the past, and this commitment to the future. It really means a lot to me. Meanwhile, I hope I can continue to share happiness through my videos. Best, Kriss.

Hey Kriss, I couldn't agree more with mrdewilliams. I have missed your clever, innovative and creative videos. I'm hoping that you still have plans to get back in the saddle to inspire, entertain and educate us soon. I'm wondering if you are still using the full face mask approach for dust protection and what your thoughts are about it at this point. Thanks Kriss and all the best going forward.

@@toolify Couldn't agree more with OP. So a few words of encouragement: you're a killer engineer and a very inventive person. If you could find the time and energy, this channel may grow a lot because your content is so incredibly original. Since I am actually woodworking instead of watching UA-cam for entertainment, I find even more pleasure in your videos.

When I installed such dampeners I found out they should be closer to the hinges (~1/3 of door width from the hinges). In this case they would be even less noisy and you wouldn't even hear the initial contact of the door and the dampener.

I bought plenty of those for a kitchen remodeling project in the US (US style cabinets, crappy hinges), and truth is, they don't hold well overtime! After a year or so, they tend to not soft anything anymore, and in your case, you end up with front holes in the cabinets. I strongly recommend, for future projects with European style cabinets, to buy instead some utrusta style hinges from Ikea (actually made by Blum), with their door dampers. It will cost you $12,00 for a pair of them including dampers if you buy them in an Ikea store (so not cheap) but they will last forever. I've used them for years now, never had any issue. Plus no retrofit, just replace the hinges and you're done.
With that said, I still love you videos :-) Keep them coming!!

Question, I thought the dampers were meant to be put on the hinge side area? Have you tried these on that end? Or did you put them all on the opposite side? Or is it just preference? I’m trying to be discreet about it and clearly I’m “new” lol

Just had to search up and watch that video. Wow - I had the pleasure of meeting David a few years back and he is one of the funniest, most witty people I know. About me: no need to worry! I'm happy and well. I've come to be really passionate about my work recently and have been putting more energy into that. I stand by my promise that I'll be back to making videos one day, but I'm not sure when. I've found that life is unpredictable and it's important to allow for spontaneity. Right now I'm following some different dreams, but don't worry -- Toolify is not forgotten. Thank you for thinking of me, and for the love. Best, love, -Kriss

are these dampers ment to be installed on the far end of the doors? because all of them i have seen usually are install in the inner side of the door where the hinge is at so that it soft closes the door and dont go fast then slow it down al of a sudden?

    • @toolify
