    You should try it out with some Wilson Combat magazines. I've read that 1911 reliability can be heavily affected by magazine quality.

    I have the "service" model, and it had issues until about 800 rounds or so (most were failure to go into battery), but after that it's done just fine. I'm closing in on 3,000 rounds since December, and I can't remember the last time it had an issue past that 800 round mark. It's been very few, though. And that's with any and all ammo that I put in it. That being said, I started using Chip McCormick mags around 500 rounds. It's not my edc, of course, but I trust it enough now that it could be.

    I’d get the extractor looked at. One of the most common hang ups with any 1911 is when the extractor is out of adjustment. Combine that with crappy magazines and you’ll have issues. I bought the Tisas Service in Dec 2021, which is the US Army model except black with a chrome barrel and a flat back strap. It came with an Act Mag magazine and it’s been flawless.

    • @JaredAF

      I'll look into that. I've contacted Tisas to see if they'll send me another slide stop, and hopefully that fixes the issue. I also have other, known good 1911 mags that I will use. If not, I'll start trying other solutions. The problem might also just go away, as noted in the video the last 30-40 rounds had no stoppages. Need to get out and test it more, but .45 ACP isn't cheap these days!

      @@JaredAF when you test a gun you should use ammo of known quality using proven magazines. Otherwise any problems leave you wondering where the problem actually lays. The gun? Magazines? Or ammo?. I recommend MecGar mags. Good Italian craftsmanship at a reasonable price. When testing guns, magazines or ammo there should only be ONE variable, of course, that's easily said unless your resources are limited. Your content is well thought out and I greatly enjoyed your video and am looking forward to more in the future

    Definitely magazine related. Mine has an occasional hiccup with old worn usgi mags and junk colt factory mags. With mecgar, metal form and Wilson combat mags it’s not an issue. Don’t overreact and go swapping parts etc. 1911s are old world tech and need a little break in. 4 of my buddies have these so 7 examples between the 5 of us(all being the same model as yours except one is the stainless railed duty model). They all report zero issues as well with good mags after they’ve worn in. You should check out the mags metal form makes that are sold through Sarco inc they are marked like the US G.I. Ones but are brand new and work perfectly. They are around $10. They have unmarked ones for $7 or $8. Best bang for your buck usgi style mags. They have WWI super early style mags with the lanyard loop on the bottom as well.

    Wilson combat mags are the absolute Goated 1911 mag. Nobody ever seems to have issues in any 1911 with those. Also like the other guy said could be a manufacturer error in the extractor

    Love my TISAS 1911: never had any problems. Have had a Springfield for about 35 years so I have lots o'mags of different mugs. Some gov't unused Vietnam vintage. No problems with either gun ever.Was your gun lubricated? Helps to run a 1911 "wet".

    • @JaredAF

      Yep, first thing I did was take apart the gun and magazines, clean the old oil off and lubed all the working surfaces.

    One thing I hear is When you get this gun new, to lock the slide back overnight before shooting it and after the first shooting. It helps in loosing the stiffness of the springs.
    Some say shoot 200 for break in period some 500.. so I'm unsure as of Yet on how many rounds are needed for the break in period, and each has theor own number..

    I would try polishing a little on that slide stop where the rounds are rubbing. Also look into getting some Wilson combat mags. And one thing I would like to add not telling you what to do at all but myself I have never used the slide stop Lever with my thumb I've always just cocked the slide back from the rear to unlock the slide stop. I've felt that it's a better muscle memory to learn especially if you are going to carry it and having to reload in a stressful situation.

    • @JaredAF
      @JaredAF  2 роки тому +2

      I've contact Tisas about getting a replacement slide stop. If that doesn't work out, I will try tinkering with the current slide stop. Also, I'm just so used to Beretta handguns whose slide releases are extremely ergonomic for me. Maybe it would behoove me to overhand rack but I've gotten used to the 1911 slide release!

    I had a Tisas for about a year and sold it a few months ago (I regret that, that's why I have another on layway right now!). The only issues I had were 3-4 hiccups when I changed the recoil spring to a wilson combat version, after that it smoothed out and was fine. As for your issues, I've heard some 1911's need a break in period, give it another 200-300 rounds and I think things will start smoothing out. Also try a wilson combat mag, not the 8 round version (had trouble getting that to lock in place fully loaded) but the conventional 7 rounder, I had 3 of those and they worked flawlessly.

    • @JaredAF
      @JaredAF  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! I've already got some other mags on order and I also have two USGI mags that seem to work fine. I'll have to try the WC mags

      @@JaredAF Just got my layway paid off the other day and took my new Tisas for a test drive. The Checkmate mags are GARBAGE! Why Tisas switched to these is a mystery to me, the Mec Gar on the original one always worked fine. One of the Checkmates hung up and I couldn't fully load it, the other was unreliable and kept jamming the gun. I had a Wilson Combat 7 round mag and it worked just fine!

    Nobody likes to hear this, but a brand new 1911 needs at least a 500 round break in. It is what it is. My Tisas had the same issues you were having but they magically disappeared after the 600ish round mark. I’ve got 2,000 rounds through mine with the stock checkmate magazines. The last malfunction I had was around the 600 round mark. It’s gone 1,400 rounds without a single malfunction so far. I trust my life with it.

    I have exactly the same gun and have had no FTF/FTE issues going thru 600 rnds now. Using any and all mags and any and all ammo including hollow point. It's amusing that most everyone on YT shooting these military style 45 autos always have to show their battle wounds next to their thumb. I doubt if the young men in training for WW2 compared or complained about that injury and they probably all had hammer bite. HA

    I keep wanting to get another 1911 after getting out of them 10 years ago. I'd owned a number of them. The best one was a colt 1991 a1 with Wilson components. It had severe battle rattle and I think that contributed to it actually working unlike ALL the other ones I've had. They are wholly unreliable. Just the way it is
