Thank you for noting the lack of effects. Modern professional beatboxing allows for a small amount of reverb, but in general the "adjustments" made in a DAW or reliant on autotune are not only illegal in competition, but also frowned upon in the community in general. By and large the modern professional beatboxer has an incredible sense of both timing and a VERY honed ear, because they are masters at producing sounds well outside the usual human ability. BTW, in regards to not being able to catch breaths: one of the hallmarks of modern beatboxing has been the development of sound palettes where these sounds are made both by breathing in and breathing out. So some of those sounds you hear are actually made while re-filling their lungs.

What? There is a whole category (well now 2 categories) that allow the use of effects. Loopstation and the new Producer category. In previous years in the Loopstation category you were allowed to use extra devices. Most often it was a Line 6 Helix and some vocal effects unit with an extra midi controller/launch pad to allow more than just the 5 Stereo tracks. 95% of all Loopstation beatboxers use plenty of effects. There are a select few like MB14 and Tom Thum who only use reverb and no other effects.

Welcome to Show-Go! Good reaction. Yes, he's master level. So clean, good voice and great timing. Effects aren't allowed in competitions, so competing beatboxers have to make all the sounds, including "effects," with their voice. That's the point of beatboxing, and they're proud of it. OTOH, beatboxers in acapella groups are produced to mesh with the singers. Loopers also use a lot of effects, but not MB14. He says he's all about the voice. Sometimes he uses reverb. Other times he asks them to turn it off and he makes his own reverb. Because he can. Like Show-Go. They're masters. Please do Show-Go's "If We're Together" and MB14's "La Cup Worldwide Showcase." Most of the top beatboxers are used to performing live in competitions where they’re not in control of the audio. Usually the competition channels will still do EQ and stuff on the final videos, but most of the competitive beatbox scene stays pretty raw compared to most music.

Would *LOVE* to see your reaction to the polyphonic techniques of either Stitch - Feels Like Nothing (GBB2021 Solo Wildcard Winner) or one of the recent prodigies like Jollux - Don't Mess With Me (Beatbox International). Stitch is more in the musicality realm, and Jollux is strongly technical with good composition.

Show-Go definitely uses EQ, Compression and a little Reverb in this. He just keeps it quite minimal. I think a bit of post production is fine as long as it's not over the top. He can still make all the sounds he's doing in real life and rock a stage live.

Your beatbox is pretty clean 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The part where he’s tapping his neck, just slightly touch your bottom lip with the bottom of your top teeth (like saying something with a letter f in the beginning -fog for example) and use your head voice. You’ll be able to create a vibration between your teeth and lip to get that pitch. Not sure if it takes a lot of practice but I don’t remember struggling when I was trying to learn it. Hope that helps.
