FRS is more than enough for spending my retirement age on a beautiful farm in the countryside, waking up to the sounds of nature, tending to the crops, and spending time with the animals, something truly special about living so close to the land and being surrounded by the beauty of nature every day.

Kelvin, your contents are always very helpful. Thank you!! Can you cover more about the pledging of property? Does pledging means we only need BRS amount, but get payout based on FRS?

    I love this video.
Thanks for your intensive research on the subject.
Now we know government can suka suka take away our SA after age 55.
My next worry is will they take away our RA when CPF Life starts or latest by age 70?
Because like what you say maintain FRS and invest the rest in other financial instruments for higher gain, when we are old old ak pek ah may liao, may lack the mental capacity for investment or would like to exit the market and leads a market worry free lifestyle.
So in my personal view CPF LIFE basic plan is still safer as the payout is drawn from it and RA can be top up anytime to the then ERS amount to receive higher payout.
However if the government choose to close the RA for people who opt for the standard or escalating plan, then topping up to an CPF account to earn 4% interest bo liao.
And lan lan stick to the existing CPF LIFE payout or can only top up OA volunteerly for the cash money gain on the higher investment if the then bank interest is lower.
    Do I worry too much???

regarding Basic Standard and Escalating plan:
    - Is it true that the Basic plan allows you to keep interest accrued from your retirement sum? this is unlike the standard and escalating where interest is pooled and not yours to keep

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  4 місяці тому +2

Ok, so how it works is that:
Standard Plan, Escalating plan: transfers all $$ from CPF RA into CPF LIFE
Basic Plan: keep transferring 10-20% from CPF RA into CPF LIFE
      CPF LIFE interest are pooled
      CPF RA interest is yours

Using the withdrawal amount at age 65 and the principal amount at 55 to compute the yield is erroneous. Proper yield should be closer to 5.86% for Females and 6.28% for Males, after projecting RA growth over 10 years.

I think everyone should go for ERS if possible. And also start CPF Life as late as possible, maybe at 90yr old..By then, can go frequent holiday on wheelchair and only porridge every meal because no more teeth.

Hi Kelvin, take it when turn 55 in year 2028, the ERS is $480K. Compound at 4% for 15 years up to age 70. The accumulated amount is $865K. Draw at monthly $4200 under standard plan. It will average out when one’s draw more than 17 years after age 70. Meaning you will “profit” after age 87. This understanding correct? Thank you

Hi Kelvin - At 55 years old and if you have met the FRS, you can with draw the excess OA. Say, you withdraw an amount of this OA for some needs. Can this amount be returned back to the OA at a later stage to continue earning the 2.5% interest?

    • @Nothingmore1313

Hi, I think you can put back the amount you used for buying your HDB flat (if any) + interest in to your OA. It's a very good option to put back money in to our OA.

    • @vasanthikalai8959

I think BASIC plan is better than Standard plan. You only lose the interest of 10% of RA put in to the pool, if you die. Your family will get back the 10% of RA put in to CPF Life on top of the remainder of 90% (after deducting your used up payout money). Difference in payout between Basic and Standard plan is only about $100+. You get $100 + lesser per month if you choose BASIC plan. But, if you calculate the amount that your family will receive upon your demise at around 70 to 75 years is a lot better than Standard plan (Standard may give a few thousands while BASIC gives a lot). Correct me if I am wrong.
