Amazing how you dealt with such a horrible situation, then to help your brother, no words I salute your courage and compassion while you suffered such a severe loss.

I was a fan of Phillip Chancellor back in the '80s as a pre-teens. Just tripped over this piece yesterday, almost 30yrs later (I'm now 42). What a courageous and compassionate man Tom Bierdz is, and what marvelous & interesting archetypal imagery he's reified from the tragedy. Would love to see more. There's a degree of emotional inhibition required to paint in the abstract that the effects of civilization beat out of us around adolescence. It's among the reason kid art is so striking, and why it's so difficult to recreate in adulthood. Adults who re-master that inhibition accomplish an impressive psychic feat in the process, and I imagine it's effects are quite therapeutic, indeed.

His images are a little reminiscent of Paul Klee & Jean Dubuffet. I have tried my hand at acrylic @ collage abstractions, and can attest that whatever minimal success it yielded just exhausted me emotionally.

He had the most beautiful, perfect face. The camera loved his bone structure. That's why people went ga-ga for him. Girls, women, men, boys. He was getting asses in seats to watch Y&R, especially in the Summer months off from school.

Thom bierdz does not forgive his brother Troy. It’s really hard to understand what he did was horrible things. I hope that he’s well and his family too. He seem doesn’t want to talk about his tragedy past. It’s very painful for him... there’s many people don’t understand in such pure evil in world. I know what evil is.

I remember Thom Bierdz coming on "The Young and the Restless" in 1986. He was very sensitive and likeable although he was a loner.

I think it was because he may have been scared people would find out he was Gay. He, Michael Corbett (Ex-David Kimble) and Terry Lester (Ex-Jack Abbott #1) RIP, were also in the Closet. Ironically The Late Louis Edmonds (Ex-Langley Wallingford All My Children, and James Mitchell (Ex-Palmer Cortlandt) were Gay but everyone knew.

I wish he would talk to Kristoff St. John (Neil) about how he deals with how he deals with his Brother Troy killing their Mother. Kristoff's Son Julian who is Schizophrenic killed himself.
