    Sew the zipper into a gusset like piece of the body and lining fabric the same width as the strap and the length of the top edge, minus the strap width, adding seam allowance. Sew into the top edge or a bit below, for a recessed look. I forget what it is called. It works just like a gusset with the strap placements making the short edges. I have seen videos on how to do it. Check a commercial made hand bag for the application of it. It is fairly easy to do, I just eyeball it.

    Beautiful bag ! You have such great ideas and I find it so soothing to watch you use your free motion foot. And finally, thank you for not putting distracting music. I love your videos!

    I absolutely love that! Especially the way you used zig zag stitching with your free motion foot, the lovely effect it had with the thread painting!

      Free motion zigzag is so much fun. A viewer told me about it a few years ago.

    Love it. I always add a flap to the top of the bag, it is easier than a zipper and does not interfere with the handles.

    Love this! Thank you! Using zipper panels may solve the bulkiness issue and you could still do the cross body strap the same way.

    I absolutely love the fabric choices! The big floral is my favorite.....how do you come by them? ...are they left overs from other projects or do you buy remnants? TFS!

    Does the heat and bond keep edges from fraying?

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Рік тому

      It helps but will not completely stop the fraying. I’ve learned to embrace fraying.
