I am from Zambia and I can honestly say that it's not the most economically developed country. I am frequently disappointed by the illusion most foreigner 's seem to have with the "magic" of Africa. They seem intent on transporting themselves temporarily to this new world and then pretending to want to come and be a part of it...
so far what isee from zambia i feel like going right now! i enjoyed the hostess in a very short video but extremely motivational for tourists to come along. and lusaka markets are open temptation to handycraft buyers. thank you so much for this instructional and invaluable info. blessings!

I made it to Lusaka. It was great. There was vegetarian cuisine at Indian and other restaurants. It was a nice change from cooking for myself. I am still savouring the experience - and bragging about it - warmth and insect sound at night, no high rise buildings and friendly helpful people

Our problem is our markets are not well organized and are not clean enough. A non Zambian especially tourist with foreign currency would never try our foods in the local markets cos the issue of how safe our water is comes into question. We need to up our standards. The Tuesday Market is far too disorganized.
As a local, who lived in LSK most of my life, I never ate any cooked food from those markets, due to the squalid conditions. Although I was probably being paranoid, but better safe than sorry. It was even worse in the rainy season. I haven't been in LSK for several years, I hope things will change. I know we are better than that.
