Lizzie has mental issues; literally. She's not being dumb or bad, she truly couldn't tell the difference with her mental state. That's why Mika said she's "messed up." It's really sad, because this show is covering how some with mental illness like Lizzie would fare in this world.
She'd need medication and therapy, things they don't have. You have to consider the idea that death is the only way to save them and others from them.

Pretty sure it was confirmed she had schizophrenia and genuinely believed the walkers were talking to her.
It's theorized that what Carol sees in her hallucinations in 7x02 with the walkers turning back to humans is what Lizzie saw but on a less exaggerated scale.

Wow...I never realized till now how many times people have literally almost killed Judith before she could even walk and talk.
Lizzie wasnt just some bad kid she was completely out of her mind thats why Carol never knew how to handle her. Carol said herself she knew Lizzie was always like this she just didnt want to see it. Lizzie was naming walkers, feeding them, mutilating animals for fun and wanted to be a walker herself. We've seen plenty other kids grow up in TWD world and they're not like Lizzie. It isnt "PTSD" or not being able to adapt, like Carol said Lizzie was like this BEFORE the world changed.

I think it was confirmed somewhere that she had schizophrenia and genuinely heard the walkers talking to her. Definitely not just PTSD otherwise Lydia would be 10x worse.

regardless its sad. a minor with mental illness in a world with no infrastructure for mental health let alone any infrastructure at all. You become psychotic back in the day when we lived in jungle tribes, you're being put down for the safety of the group. In my opinion Lizzie was very sick kid. And killing Mika was veeery stupid.
I think that leaving her is more cruel than killing her, specially in the way Carol did it. Leaving her, would lead to her being ripped apart while still alive, so she would suffer much more.

I seen the behind the scenes to this episode and those kid's are amazing man they did a lot of shots for this episode the 2 little girls. I give them props because i would be tired after awhile of shooting the same scene over and over the scene were there running from the burnt zombies.

Abandoning her is 10 x worse than killing her. If they did not kill her she would pose a danger to the group, any group. She had to be killed because in that world where survival is already compromised there are limited resources left over to care for someone with a full blown psychosis. I would have found some sleeping pills and have her wash it down with a bottle of NyQuil to let her go into a deep deep sleep and do it while she was out. She would never have to be afraid or even know it was going to happen. Then I would probably go and throw up.

Tyrese had his own problems. The look in his eyes when Carol told him to take Lizzy up to the house. Was like I don't want to go anywhere with this mini murderer. Leaving Lizzy only puts othet people in danger. They would have no idea how dangerous she is and she could have killed someone else. Making her look at the flowers is the best option since she can't be hospitalized for criminally insane.
I was still watching when this episode came on. I remember EVERYONE going "I think this episode went too far" and me just being like NAH FUCK THAT SHIT ITS LIT

Daryl and Carol are my favorites, Carol had to do what she had to do, she killed her sister :/ shit made me cry. No she was mentally ill and she talked about doing it to Carl’s sister too, so Carol did what anyone would of done even though it was hard.

But yeah if you paid attention to all the signs, like Lizzie murdering animals and trying to suffocate Judith then you would come to the realization that the kid was a psychopath. She had to be put down, and this also goes back to was it really smart of Carol to teach kids how to kill when she really didn't know their mental state? Anyways, Imagine a kid like Lizzie growing up in the apocalypse. She would have been a serial killer that targeted children, yep she had to die.

I think leaving her would be morally worse than just outright killing her because the possibility of being ripped apart by the walkers alone without help or just starving alone just feels cruel.

Carol should take some of the blame for what happened here. How many times did the younger kid tell Carol that her sister is "messed up" (using those exact words)? Twice by my count.
But still Carol didn't see the need to take the knife from her.

Senzo Benedict yeah but put yourself in Carol’s shoes she views both as her sort of surrogate daughters and in her mind it’s dangerous to leave anyone without a weapon of some kind especially a little girl that if the adults died she would need to be able to survive on her and defend herself. Even if Carol took her gun & knife, you can still kill people without them. An as for Mika, she already said multiple times, she can't bring herself to kill people. Not strangers or even animals, Imagine her sister? She wouldn't have been able to take the shot. Hell, let's be real, Lizzie used a knife and we know Mika had a gun.
