Lizzie's case is even more tragic because they gave us hints early on that she was getting treatment before the ZA hit, but once society fell apart, she really didn't have a chance. And if you left her alone, she'd not only be in danger of starvation or being torn apart by walkers. You'd also have to worry that she'd be found by a horrible group like the one that found Daryl. All four actors were outstanding, but Melissa McBride's performance in this was next level. Pretty much all the major media outlets had her on their Emmy lists, but sadly she was overlooked, just like the rest of the excellent cast always was during the show's run. She did get nominated for the Television Critic's Award, at least, and she won the Saturn Award that year. Interesting tidbit: Because they were primarily in one location, the director decided to film the entire episode in order, instead of filming scenes out of order, as they normally do. He felt it would seem more real to the actors that way and help them better immerse themselves in the story. Also, if you noticed the jigsaw puzzle on the table throughout the episode, it was there as more than just set decoration. Right before Melissa McBride and Chad Coleman filmed the scene where Carol confesses to killing Karen and David, the director showed them a picture of what the puzzle would look like once it was put together. It was a picture of Carol's daughter Sophia, wearing the blue Unicorn T-shirt she had on when she went missing. Needless to say, that added an extra layer of emotion to their performances, which was the director's intent. lol
I love those fun behind the scene facts! Thank you! We may need to do a video just talking about the behind the scenes sometime 😃 It’s really interesting about how they had the puzzle be Sophia. Lizzie’s story really is tragic and I think the first sign we saw something already existing was when Mika had her look at the flowers to calm herself earlier in the season. The walking dead cast getting overlooked for major awards is a shame but I’m glad Mellisa McBride was at least recognized and won a Saturn award. I don’t think they want to take a zombie show or anything horror related seriously with awards and they exclude such excellent acting and writing. And thank you for the baby congrats! 😊🍼

hey guys its been a while since I've commented, you guys are such wonderful people and so fun to watch, i hope everyone else realizes that too. as for this episode its definitely considered the darkest episode in this show, because you have 2 children who are just not physically, emotionally and mentally ready/fit to live in a world like this, one if them is just too sweet and the other is just unexplainably messed up in the head, nobody knows if she was born this way or if the world just screwed her head, but fir carol to have to put her down because shes unexplainable, is just very depressing because you're putting down a child who pretty much doesn't understand the values of what's going on, so a very dark episode

It’s sad too that Mika was too sweet to really survive but overtime she may have adjusted to at least be able to somehow survive. Hello 👋 Another awesome video, 👍👍 The smoke is from the Daryl and Beth fire (the burnt Walkers are from it too), they were not to far behind them, they passed by the dead bunnies which Mika commented on in the beginning of this episode, when she tells Lizzy she is more like Tom Sawyer because she didn’t even get grossed out by dead bunnies, my take on it is, Carol and Ty took a right at the tracks and found ‘The Grove’ as Daryl and Beth got to the tracks, they unfortunately decided to go straight across the tracks instead of turning, 👍😀 This was a hard one to watch, poor Mika, RIP Mika (wonderfully played by Kyla Kennedy) and also (not sure she will rip) Lizzie (wonderfully played by Brighton Sharbino) Sad that Carol had to be the one to deal with Lizzy, but between the two, even though it nearly destroyed her, she is the stronger one emotionally, I think it would have destroyed Ty, but seeing how hard it was for her to make the choice she did, made it easier for Ty to forgive her. Pine sap is considered a wonder sap, and can be used as a self-aid to treat wounds, stop bleeding and treat rashes. I personally would do the exact same thing as Carol, unfortunately leaving her alive would potentially put anyone she might cross paths with in danger, even if it were available, sadly with how far gone she is, counseling would not even help, 😏 Have a safe and wonderful week, 👋😀👋
Hello! That's really interesting that was the same fire as Daryl and Beth! We didn't think about it but it puts them very close to each other and you can almost figure out the timeline with where their paths almost cross. That's a nice catch about Daryl and Beth crossing instead of turning. We need a map to see where everyone is at right now 😅 Also, the bunny comment was something I did spot, the second time around. With Carol's decision, it was logically the right choice, it's just hard to follow through with something like that. Psychologically it would be impossible to get over and move past it. Lizzie wasn't killed because she was mentally ill, there really wasn't any other choice here. Lizzie is sick...at any point she could slip into your room while you're sleeping or sneak up behind you when your back is turned and murder you...just because she thought it would be fun or wanted to see what would happen. There's no fixing that even with medication, let alone in a world like this.
Yes I agree, I think that’s what was so hard. Her mental illness would hurt or kill others and you have no control over it. Abandoning her isn’t a great solution either.
They allude to the fact that Lizzie was always mentally ill, even before the world went to hell. That's why the "look at the flowers", it seems like a coping skill a therapist would tell somebody.
I really like how they gave us clues early on and how we already know something is off with Lizzie but we aren’t exactly sure what it is. Carol even says that at the end, the signs were there all along she just didn’t want to see it.
