For the Silicone Mat, I use the Pet Meal Mat from Kmart(Aus) , but also available on Amazon, they have a small Lip around the edge, helps keep spills contained.
Hahahaha - I get 4/5... off to buy a ladle 🤣🤣#6 - Stop Loss Bags. The BEST paint/finish invention saver ever. New 1L tins straight in, you can pour our super controlled amounts, almost no waste ever.
Wrap that paint brush in glad wrap, and chuck it in the fridge. Lasts for over a week, but annoys your other half for over 6 months when you forget about it and leave it in there 😆
Nice one Ainslie I did know all of those things, except I’d never thought of using silicone. Nice tip. After wrapping my paint brush, I then leave in the fridge, which gives you even more time. When it comes to washing the brush, I use soapy warm water in a bucket, and a cheap wire brush to comb out the paint, which helps to clean the nap. BTW I bet you had fun creating that thumb nail😂
Really good suggestions Ainslee. Thank you. I have used the silicone mat idea for years and I have also carved out tools for special applications from silicon kitchenware. Glue stirers for bookbinding and so much can be made from handles. Gloves are great for sensitive skin in the workshop as well as protection. My tip? A bit of talcum powder on the hands helps getting the gloves off after the process. Thanks again Ainsley
Hey Eryk Thank you! I love the talcum powder trick. Thats a great idea. Silicone is so handy and just has so many uses. Thanks as always for stopping by
An unconventional too I use is… moisturising cream. You just put a tiny amount on your hands, it helps the skin and protects it from paint: as it is a greasy compound, water based paint wont stick to it and you’ll have a super easy time cleaning them, but without having to glove on and off all the time. /!\ doesn’t work with solvant based paint /!\
GREAT Another tool to loose A Paint tin opener Handy things like this have a habit of hiding themselves extremely well from me! Buying one soon Thanks Anislee.
Hands down the best 65 cents I’ve ever spent. But I have to say I use form ply for glue ups I put it on top of my table when I have a glue up its 600 by 1200 mil I don’t clean it till my next glue up then I run over it with a paint scraper comes off so easy and it’s ready to glue up again
Great tips and tools! If I could add one more to your list: if you're into your spray finishes/spray paints, then you have to get an aerosol spray paint trigger. Saves your fingers and wrist, gives you greater control and better results. Can be picked up for under $20!
Hey Anthony. Thank you. Also great tip!! I love it and I will pick up one on my next bunnings trip as I don't use sprays often but would be super handy to have it when I do.
@@SmallFryCreations I recommend the one from Supercheap auto (the Rust-Oleum) instead of the Bunnings one, as it's more comfortable to use and better made.
And when you are done with the ladle you can use it in the kitchen again for the extra kick to any soup.
hahaha Love it!
Finally watched this video and loved it! I need to buy some silicon mats for the Men’s Shed! 😂
