Some acts of congress explicitly delegate powers to agencies and some do so more implicitly. My (shallow) understanding is that this precedent appears to apply to the latter while firearms laws often operate under the former scenario. A reflex adapter "muzzle device" is the easiest way to take a Hub compatible suppressor and increase the volume. Otter Creek currently has such a device. A phase change material would be one way to address heating issue. Many laptops use a alcohol based heat pipe to move heat away from the chips without a mechanical pumping mechanism.
I had a 3 business day suppressor stamp come back a week ago. Besides the fingerprints and form being digital, why did my first suppressor take 11 months? Mail couldn’t have taken that long, so why are they only coming back so quick after a court order?
Has to do with court case. The argument was going to be that they used long length of time as a deterrent to own them.. and magically they started approving them instantly.
They for the longest time always took 8 months to a 1.5 years. Once the courts figured out what they were doing. They slightly took their head slightly out of their own asses
That’s a very insightful observation. “ Vigilante justice is not justice but the product of injustice”. Individuals who have felt unable to effect outcomes unless they take matters into their own hands. All very well stated.
Print a series of drop in replacements and leave the filiment attaching them together so that you have to pop them off like pieces for a toy model. 1 tax stamp for 1 piece.
Ii used to want suppressors. I still do, but I used to, too. - Mitch Hedberg, maybe. But in all seriousness, I really don’t like illegal government databases. So I really want NFA and ATF to go away. Once that happens, oh boy, sales will go thru the roof.
I realize this video was 90% about suppressor tech which was highly informative albiet info I largely knew as a gigantic gun nerd. That said the take on the NY incident was one of the best I've heard. Also that little bit at the end, I would love an entire video on that alone.
For the replacement parts thing, You can send the silencer back to the manufacture for a "Re-core" service and avoid the extra tax stamp. If the core can last about 2-3k rounds, I could see people doing this if the new core is about $150 all said and done.
Absolutely amazing content and delivery. I avoided clicking on this for a while because I saw the length and it is a topic I thought I knew plenty about already, so figured I would get bored. But here I am at the end of it and I didn't even notice the 20 minutes go by.
From Experiments I've done, Down and maybe even Wide seem to be a much better way to go with Suppressors. I created a Blastoff Box Chamber that is for the initial Blast Off of Gas. I installed a Triangular bit with a Hole for the Projectile to pass through and keep going through a Baffle system. 2 Holes that are on the bottom of the Blastoff Box Direct that Gas from the Initial Blast from the Sides, Down and to a Bottom Baffle Tube System where each hole is small and in a Staggered Left to Right, or Right to left set. The Holes are small in that Baffle Set as there is no Projectile passing through, only the Gas. It then reconnects directly from the bottom to the bottom of the main Tube's Exit by way of a 20 or 30 degree angled Tube, then the Gas Exits. It's Worked better than I figured it would so far.
"Mufflers" should be our strategic vocabulary change for discussing this item. Just like a car, the noisy firearm needs a muffler for the safety and courtesy of others.
Ceramic suppressor…would be interesting R&D and very little would dissipate heat better or stand up to massive pressures as the ceramic matrix was in compression.
The absurdity of the tax stamp, ‘these things are too dangerous for you to own, but, give us the 200 dollar BRIBE, and it makes them perfectly safe to own’. It’s just a cash cow, if they cared about safety, silencers and braces would be recommended!!

Dead air Wolfman has an endcap that will accept a wipe, and Dead air states that Wipes are user replacable. I have heard that a wipe must be replaced on a 1:1 basis with the old one being destroyed. And you cannot have extra wipes as spares. I believe the other ruling was for an accessory end cap that allowed you to use wipes, but if the can from the factory when transfered used wipes, you as an end user (or i have read a non sor ffl) can also replace them, but you cant buy an addon cap that adds the ability to use wipes.
I'm sure that the ATF has said this at some point in time. There have been so many different statements on what you can and cannot do that there's no telling how enforcement will actually be done.
@@WideAwakeHuman you are correct, but legally it never should be that way. As far as I understand, the rule/principle of lennity is that any and all laws are to be construed in the citizens favor, as they didn't write the law, and aren't lawyers themselves. Essentially, if you read a rule/law in a sensible way, it's up to the courts to prove that the law obviously forbids what you did. Is that how it's executed or applied, no, of course not, but that is the principle it is supposed to abide by.
There's nothing in the U.S. Constitution that says anything about the decibel level of the sound my gun can make. The right to bear arms is without conditions - PERIOD! I can fire my gun loudly or softly, it's MY choice, and my neighbors prefer SOFTLY.
not all countries in europe have strict gun laws. here in switzerland we can own really cool stuff. for example, I recently acquired a full-auto SIG 553 LB with a 40mm sig GL5340 grenade launcher as a regular citizen. in the US you have to be a special occupational taxpayer (SOT) for being able to possess modern machine guns and you can only possess them as long as you're a SOT.
Remember those oil filter thread adapters you could get serialized and registered under the NFA? Kinda wild how the filter wasn't considered a servicable part but a 3d printed insert for a titanium tube would be. Time for Harrera to shut the ATF down.
Note I actually have not tried this design on a Firearm for NFA reasons. I have however connected it to the end of a 24 Inch Long, but 4 Inch in Thickness Pipe. Which is connected to a Quick Acting Ball Valve, which is connected to a Super Thick Heavy Tank. Pressurize Tank to Scuba Tank Pressure, release Valve. Extent of Testing so far, as next step is $200 Tax Stamp so it can Legally be attached to any Firearm, and further Tested.
I never knew about reflex suppressors before this, I think they present one big benefit over integral suppressors , Int. suppression takes away from your effective barrel length, just gotta but both have the crux of being dedicated cans, so if i had to pick between a thicker barrel, or a shorter barrel length, I'd probably choose thicker barrel
Its a muffler, just like on your car. The government will fine you for not having a muffler on your car and they want their tax if you want one on your firearm. Crazy
Technically, The British did call them these things, and worse... But what you are called is not the standard. The fact that they won was not the standard.
In the UK, the government encourages the use of silencers, its seen as the polite thing to use. The US government demonized the use of silencers. How the fuck does that happen?
B&T opening a plant in FL is a great thing! 3-D printing inconel is pretty awesome too! A one week trust approval was amazing! OH, and B&T getting permission to copy everyone else's QD systems is genius!
The reason they are so looked down upon here, is because of all the movies where they are erroneously portrayed as, and called "silencers" and used strictly to assassinate someone (thanks ceo killer). They ought to simply be called "reducers", or "gun mufflers". Where as In most European countries it is considered a common courtesy to use them when shooting. And in some countries, not even restricted. Most people just don't know how loud firearms truly are, especially when fired indoors.
While never intended for this application... Testlas did some pretty interesting research into Fluid Dynamics and his brake/regulaters/choak setups should be considered for application ??? How to make a better solvent trap ???
Why does Federal Fish and Wildlife officers equipped with Glock 22 with suppressors ? Cause they don't want to damage their ears when shooting defense against bears or other things. Is their ears more important than We The People? Apparently.
Silencers shouldnt even be on the NFA to begin with. not a firearm. Also, NFA is unconstitutional. Crazy that other countries with WILD gun control require silencers to combat hearing loss and noise pollution.
When the people and their elected leaders tolerate blatantly illegal laws and regulations, that's the classic way dictatorships and facist states are born. Machievelli wrote about these things 500 years ago. And I'll bet no US school has them on the required reading list.
As much as the US has the 2A rights and is much better off than most countries in Europe, many countries in Europe no longer require any special license for suppressors and consider them a natural part of owning a rifle. As long as you can own the rifle, you can have as many suppressors as you want.
With more sane laws that allowed for the owner of a suppressor to replace wipes or baffles, you could 3d print baffles from extremely hygroscopic plastics that store lots of water inside the baffles as ablative media, easily replaced as they erode.
It's crazy how many people want the system to change, then someone comes along and actually forces a change, and all of a sudden its "vigilante justice is bad mkay" 🤷

@@carsonhunt46425 months in on mine. Wonder if they’re just back to the status quo after approving forms seemingly en mass for a short while.
They for the longest time always took 8 months to a 1.5 years. Once the courts figured out what they were doing. They slightly took their head slightly out of their own asses
As always… extremely educational material and a pleasure to watch.
Always look forward to a T Rex lab report.
That’s a very insightful observation. “ Vigilante justice is not justice but the product of injustice”. Individuals who have felt unable to effect outcomes unless they take matters into their own hands.
All very well stated.
Great video. Everyone should contact their representatives about the SHUSH act to deregulate suppressors.

Fantastic video, Lucas! You combined technical aspects, legal issues, and insane gun laws. Thanks.
Thank you for the video and what you provide for citizens to educate and protect themselves!!
thank you for sharing a technical and coherent breakdown I find the content very refreshing
I guess we can hold on to the insert idea until we inflate $200 to the price of a candy bar.
It's coming...
Great video, Isaac!
Thanks, please keep up the good work!
Videos like this remind me of how much I hate the government and their bs.
Print a series of drop in replacements and leave the filiment attaching them together so that you have to pop them off like pieces for a toy model. 1 tax stamp for 1 piece.
It is ironic how many suffer from tinitus which would be mitigated by having these properly available
Smith and wesson charges something like $80 to replace wipes on an aurora 2 now.
Ii used to want suppressors.
I still do, but I used to, too. - Mitch Hedberg, maybe.
But in all seriousness, I really don’t like illegal government databases.
So I really want NFA and ATF to go away.
Once that happens, oh boy, sales will go thru the roof.
We need to get cans off the NFA ASAP
If you use a form 1 to build your own suppressor can you legally change the wipes since you are the manufacturer?
Those numbers sure look like "common use".
I realize this video was 90% about suppressor tech which was highly informative albiet info I largely knew as a gigantic gun nerd. That said the take on the NY incident was one of the best I've heard. Also that little bit at the end, I would love an entire video on that alone.
Crazy how you tied it all back into healthcare 👍😂
Ceramic suppressor…would be interesting R&D and very little would dissipate heat better or stand up to massive pressures as the ceramic matrix was in compression.
machining/casting involved in it would be interesting for sure, but I'm sure if they figured it out for metal then they can do it for ceramic as well.
Thank you for mentioning the ridiculous NY laws.
That will be the day when I can use my HSA for a suppressor purchase
The absurdity of the tax stamp, ‘these things are too dangerous for you to own, but, give us the 200 dollar BRIBE, and it makes them perfectly safe to own’. It’s just a cash cow, if they cared about safety, silencers and braces would be recommended!!
Like always, you guys are putting out such good educational content in an efficient manner. Great explanation of current and possible future suppressor tech, as well as political and social commentary on the United Healthcare CEO shooting and the inevitable exploitation by the gun control blob. Thank you!
Nix the NFA and we can basically nix BATFE. Time to get it done with Brandon Herrera!
Yet another informative, well prepared, executed, & produced piece. Thank you, Trex Labs crew!
how about a spinner that's gyro stabilized or 2 that cancell out? air cooled barrel?
Love the idea of throw away inner modules, unfortunately, we have a 100 CHF tax here in Switzerland (but at least I can get up to three suppressors on this tax)
@@isaacbotkintrexcome on, we know how enforcement will work… it’ll be done in the least fair, least reasonable way. Lol
@@ChristopherGoggans totally agree - if it was a fair system that’s how it would work.
Defend. Deny. Depose.
the best video i've seen in a very long time. well done! TY.
This guy is well educated and informed. Thanks for the work you do
Remember those oil filter thread adapters you could get serialized and registered under the NFA?
Crazy
vigilante justice, mob justice, these are words that they would have used against our founding fathers had they lost in their revolution.
Technically, The British did call them these things, and worse... But what you are called is not the standard. The fact that they won was not the standard.
I can't believe that I spent months researching this before watching this video. Because it recaps what I've learned about.
In the UK, the government encourages the use of silencers, its seen as the polite thing to use. The US government demonized the use of silencers. How the fuck does that happen?
Because in the UK they already have total control. Here they still need to work for it.
B&T opening a plant in FL is a great thing! 3-D printing inconel is pretty awesome too! A one week trust approval was amazing! OH, and B&T getting permission to copy everyone else's QD systems is genius!
I love how you guys present this issue.
You do realize other countries have spy movies with suppressors in them right? That has little to nothing to do with it.
"Vigilante justice is not justice"

I heard "Welrod" and rolled my eyes. My first thought was, "Oh look, someone's played Sniper Elite and is a weapons expert now."
Apparently.
The suppressor may have been to not trigger the New York shotspotter system.
A theory I've read elsewhere.
The production quality is untouched.
As much as the US has the 2A rights and is much better off than most countries in Europe, many countries in Europe no longer require any special license for suppressors and consider them a natural part of owning a rifle. As long as you can own the rifle, you can have as many suppressors as you want.
This is such a solid channel
Chill buddy
I love this video coming so soon after asking the guys at the booth at the Texas tactical games
Great and informative video. Thank you.
With more sane laws that allowed for the owner of a suppressor to replace wipes or baffles, you could 3d print baffles from extremely hygroscopic plastics that store lots of water inside the baffles as ablative media, easily replaced as they erode.
Reflex can with wipes or flow-through design? The small size is nice for an AR.
Supressors should only gost 30$ by now, but regulation slowed thier progress...they are simple design.
Very educational 👍🏻
It's crazy how many people want the system to change, then someone comes along and actually forces a change, and all of a sudden its "vigilante justice is bad mkay" 🤷
Too many people deepthroating the government boot.
