- In today's Photoshop tutorial I'm going to take you through the process of creating this melting liquid RGB text effect with somewhat of a retro 80s aesthetic with its vibrant colours and grainy texturing. This effect is ideal for creating poster art or an album cover design with a retro-futuristic style. We'll use a couple of simple tools within Photoshop to create the effect, then finish off the piece with textures to enhance the retro vibe.

If you have a scanner then you can also create this effect by printing off text and moving the paper up/down when you scan. Way less control but gives v interesting results

Hahah I just bought a pack of these on creative market bc I was so curious about how to achieve this look. Nice to know how to create it, and now I don’t have to dissect someone else’s product lol. Nice to have it in an actions form tho! Thanks for this tutorial! 👍🏽
This makes me wonder how the effect is incorporated into an Action with this method using a manual smudging technique. I’d be interested to see what alternative techniques there are!
@@spoongraphics Right! In my head I was like, this purchase is worth it if it can condense this work flow and minimize time spent going through the repetitive motions. I haven't opened it up yet, or looked through it... but it's by Studio 2am on CM. TBH I typically do these types of text distortions on Procreate bc their liquify is fire compared to photoshops - just so much more intuitive.

Thank you for this video, normally I lose control like after a few seconds, but this time following seems to be more easy for me. But I have a problem at 3:43 - When i put the layers together, the color is fading and the text is black and white again. Beside that my window with the tool where the red, green or blue can be selected looks different - I got more options. Maybe it is because i have a newer version of Photoshop? Hope somebody can help me -i would be totally happy to finish this tutorial. Thanks :**

I got this working in After Effects. I used a fractal noise animation as a displacement map to replace your smudge tool work since After Effects doesn't have a smudge tool. I used your light leak images to replace the brushed color spots you added.

I can't figure out to stretch the text on Photoshop mac when I try to stretch it to the bottom it only makes it bigger and doesn't stretch it :/ anyone know what should I do please?
