We had a single barrel on the farm and that was the very first shotgun I shot and you mentioned 16 bore well that has always been my favoured bore, just love em. Many years ago when I was in the military I called in to see my uncle which was my dad’s brother and his health was ailing but I always found time when I was on leave to visit him. One day I went we got talking guns as I knew he loved to shoot in his day and I’d never seen his guns before and he came in with this beautiful 16 bore side by side and I like him was a cuddy wifter, that’s left handed in Yorkshire! Anyhow he said I’d like you to have it and I said I couldn’t it was too much and he was insistent that I did but I knew his wife was a money grabbing bitch, sounds harsh but she was as she would make up excuses that she couldn’t cope with him and pack him off for rest bite leaving him 50p for pocket money! And it was my father who would go in and see him making sure he had what he needs and leaving money with the nursing staff knowing if she came in she would take it, she was an awful woman and only married him for his money. Anyway back to the 16 bore, knowing what she was like I said to uncle Edward if I take it I want to pay you something for it but you hide the money from her and don’t tell her and after him getting a bit upset he agreed and I said that I’d pop over the following week to collect it as it was the end of the month and payday, this was my biggest mistake. When I got home my other uncle was there my mothers brother and he was also a shooting man and I was telling him about this amazing gift from uncle Edward and the reasoning behind me paying him some money so that for once he had some in his wallet. The following week I got the cash and went to collect the gun and uncle Edward said well it’s gone your uncle Alan came for it! He said you had changed your mind and you didn’t want it! I was fuming not at him but at my other uncle somebody I looked up to and thought I could trust. I didn’t want to kick up a fuss at uncle Edward’s because as I said he was ailing but when I got to the nearest phone box I phoned my uncle and said what did he think he was doing and I wanted that gun back to which he said well you can’t I haven’t got it I’ve sold it and he shit had too at his local gun club. And he’d never even paid uncle Edward a Penny for it either. They say to forgive but I never did and the respect I once had had gone.
Absolutely ridiculous! Family should matter more than money. Some day people like that will have to answer for their actions and will meet with the fait that they have coming to them. Money is the root of all evil!

No longer making them. The new ones are not made with near the quality that these old ones are. You can still find these old guys on the used market.
