►Part 2: • pt2 Emotional - Tool "...
HI, Dean here, in this video i react again- but this time i save comments mostly to the end and deeply listen to the song, as Tool fans instructed me! It got more emotional than expected, to say the least- it brought tears and i connected to this song viscerally. Doesn't happen often. I think Yes' Awaken (on Going for the One-1977) brought me near to tears- it's so dang powerful. Lo and behold- Lateralus did it to me too!

The negative point of Tool, after listening to them, you will never be satisfied by another band.
A perfect circle is up there for me, but of course Maynard is in it so lol
Dream theater
Pink Floyd bro, they are the best. Then tool. :D
Radiohead boy!
I can confirm that, but then again I don't need anything else. Tool was THE band, the artists, the music, the lyrics, the transcending music my soul needed and craved for. I am fulfilled.
This was and still is my motivation song after my wife passed away a year ago.
So sorry to hear about your wife, all the best to you and yours
Stay strong, brother!
"We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion."
Damn, that's unfathomable to lose a wife. Stay strong brother, let the music carry you forwards.
All the very best bro 💪
The one place I feel at home in the world. With all my fellow Tool fans. Love you all ✌️❤️ Spiral out 🤤
Beautifully put.
This song literally changed my life. It came to me as I was learning about the concepts of everything being interconnected in nature, at a time in my life when I felt this unshakeable feeling that I wasn’t living the life that was meant for me. It’s like the universe sent me the song when I needed to hear it. I exploded into tears at the line reaching out to embrace the random, reaching out to embrace whatever may come, and in that instant my whole life changed, like the frame of reference I use to see the world is irrevocably different. My personal relationships are better, I’m happier at work, I’ve reconnected to my family, and been able to help and serve thousands of people while feeling an awareness that I am now exactly where I’m supposed to be. The song didn’t do it, but it’s undeniable that the song came to my attention at the precise moment that I needed to hear it. And I still tear up when I hear it years later, partially because of the song, and partially because of the metamorphosis that it influenced.
It's about time, I was beginning to think I was the only one that tears up listing to this band. I have a tough time with Descending it's so good.
A once in a lifetime band.
Yeah, you're not. 10,000 days part 2 gets me choked up literally every time I hear it.
Lateralus, H. , third eye, Rosetta stoned....etc!! Gets me teary, and goosebumps!!
Watch them do descending live. At the end when they can barely keep the song together. I cried so hard while tripping watching that. True masters of their craft.
Right there with you. I just flew to Melbourne to watch them twice.
@MRImage1987 enjoy the show and have a great time.
Dude, your emotional reaction to this makes me feel connected to you. And that's the power of good music.
You said it man!
Music will do that to you. Regardless of genre the power of a good song can drive you to tears.
:)
thats the reason why i never will open a reaction channel... i would cry by every tool song...^^
Hey Dean, did you ever check out videos about the spiral of The Fibonacci Sequence? I asked you about that a while back, but you weren't familiar with it. I think it would broaden the depth of your appreciation of this song to watch a couple of good UA-cam videos that explain the mathematical formula this song is based on.
Wait till you hear Wings for Marie pt. 1&2. Crying every damn time.
Ok thanks for the heads up!
@@deanwolfechannel Better than Stairway. Promise
It'd be good to listen to Perfect Circle "Judith" first, it's a complete and deeply personal tale Maynard wrote regarding his complex relationship with his Mother.
yeh fully
Yea cant make it through without tearing up
Seeing a man cry to music is the most beautiful thing, thank you for showing us your emotion. Welcome to Tool.
I totally get the tears, man! As a suicide survivor (age 12, attempted hanging due to abusive stepdad and enabling mother) the words “spiral out, keep going” get me every....single...time. This song is my anthem. We all go through shit and have shit going on in our lives. We’ve all been down in the darkness. I’ve been to the edge and back so this song speaks to me on several different levels.
Spiral out....keep going. Always. ❤️
Wow, I've suffered neglect but not abuse...keep on with the healing, and tool is there for us
Thank you ❤
drb2k I don’t know you but I wanted to say that I’m glad you’re still with us. Spiral out, keep going.
Damn, your words touched me, brother. I'd never even considered that and always will from now on.
So happy you're still here and staying strong. Keep going indeed.
This song is a spiritual, emotional experience from start to finish...
tools best song is the one your listening to at the time.
Not even...there are SO MANY that are just as good!
It's 7empest for me
Lateralus is a journey through Maynards writing process really, trying to making a song out of the fibonacci sequence, overthinking and overanalyzing it, withering his intuition, but he's gonna ride out the spiral, because they may just go where noones been. Brilliant really.
The only proper reaction to TOOL.
Idk I wouldn’t say I cry after listening to hooker with a penis lol
Wow. That is quite the reaction. Yup. You are now a member of the family my good man. You will NEVER be the same. I've been a Tool fan for 27 years and I am still in awe when I listen to Lateralus and all their other albums. The music is so flawlessly perfect and stunningly beautiful, there are no words to describe that kind of musical genius. Happy you loved it.
Thanks
And their music is timeless..it's still relevant and amazing all these years later. Still no band can match their talent
I'm a big rush fan and I think they both occupy the realm of greatness.
This song makes me cry, too. I have always suffered severe depression and anxiety and this song has helped me get through some of my darkest times.
I have the lyrics "Spiral out, keep going" tattooed on my arm to remind me to never give up. 🌀
I love how from the outside tool can sound kind of dark, but when you really listen it is uplifting, a paradox. I wish you much joy white cat,
Those tears, that's how you know that you just witnessed true art and beauty... The Power of Tool's music can literally make you feel it in/through every fiber of your body, very much intoxicating like a drug, but for your brain instead of your vein... TOOL = 🐐 😵😵😵KEEP👉GOING👉😵😵😵KEEP👉GOING👉😵😵😵KEEP👉GOING👉😵😵😵KEEP👉GOING👉😵😵😵
VanillaGorilla 84 would totally have to agree with you. I love a lot of different metal and rock bands but Tool is on a different planet. Complete geniuses. So powerful. True masters of music.
I’ve been listening to this song for 20 years and it still sends chills all through the my body and brings tears to my eyes, and inspires me to live my best life every time I hear it. If they don’t play this song at my funeral I’m not going.
Greetings fellow Lateralus to be played at funeral pal!
I think the transition that starts at 8:12 is perhaps one of the, if not the greatest singular moment in rock history. Just one man's opinion.
I think it's a top 5 if not number 1
yes Tool do that, they play with your emotional vibe. take you somewhere, destabilize you and bring you back on earth... they are genius
They can make you angry, contemplative, sad, happy. They can send you through all of those emotions.... in one song
They are the musical equivalent of auyhuasca
This cd is truly TOOL's Magnum Opus...
The first time I was really able to take in Pnuema was driving with headphones. I had to pull over and let the tears flow
Wow, so many people experiencing a similar deep reaction to this music, not just me, thanks for sharing
Dude I cried at the end of pnuema too!
Aaaaand down the hole ya go! Third eye open - Welcome to the Tool Army!
I HIGHLY recommend Pneuma, which is off their latest album (first in 13 years). I've been a fan for over 25 years and it's by far my favorite song of theirs. Simply amazing!
Like favorite of all time?? I love that song but I don’t think it’s their best by any means lmao. Lateralus, and others are definitely better
TJ Yates, favoritism is subjective 😉 I, for one, have held Rosetta Stoned as my favorite for many years!
I don’t know how a real tool fan has a favorite song.😉
@@cjscherer8458 flavor of the month for sure! 😁 Which was a hard seat to take. Wings 1&2 holds a special place in my heart
Before that was Parabol/parabola... Before that was Eulogy, and before that was Sober... Oh there's a pattern... Spiral out! 🤘
8:25 his world changes forever for the better.
Music is amazing and the melody is trance inducing. But the lyrics, wow. I'm not usually a lyrics type guy I sing along with all types and never pay much attention to what they saying. But this song is literally life changing. Embrace the world we live in, enjoy the gift and the beauty of life. Try new things, go outside your comfort zone. It won't all be good but it will be an experience. Get off the couch and go outside try a new things. Order something different at your favorite restaurant. Just live. Don't be afraid to fail. Every time I really listen to this song, I'm motivated all over again.
This is exactly what a tool reaction should be. No talking, just listening.
Tool will change the way you think about existence, if you just quiet yourself and listen.
This was me during all of Fear Inoculum.
The Lateralus album is a true masterpiece, please listen to the album in its entirety and in order and we'll be quite content to see you split up the video and upload your reactions to each segment individually.
A journey full of wonder with tons of emotion awaits you to experience it.
The new "Fear Inuculum" album from 2019 should be next after that.
Yeah man. I feel that's a proper way in. 10k days needs some building up to in it's complexity.
Lateralus is holy. I tripped balls, turned off all the lights, cranked the volume, laid on the floor and closed my eyes. I had a religious experience listening to that album that fundamentally changed me. Beautiful art. Adam knows how to get 100% from a single guitar note.
Been a fan for 25 years and TOOL opened up the floodgates more times than I could possibly count. I fucking love TOOL.
I cried a few times to this song too haha it’s a powerful song. It makes you happy to be alive and to take it slow and embrace this live in this short time we are given to be here living and breathing. This beautiful song is a gift to humanity.
When you welled up at the end I literally felt that and also welled up. This music is so much more than music.

whats the significance of having the songs in that order?
@@concertino58 The flow. The end of one song into the start of the next. Check it out, make a playlist
@@concertino58 it's called The Holy Gift
pretentious band with over complicated music! whatever floats ya boat dude
@@fixxxer7030 😂😂😂😂😂 and yet here you are on YT watching videos of them. 👍
Dude, if you're digging Tool, I highly recommend "Pushit" live from Salival. It'll blow your mind.
James Carter yes lol
I've been saving this version of pushit for almost a year now.
I wanted to listen to all of tool and really get it before I got into salivals pushit.
I got to see them live last week at both shows in NZ. Absolutely amazing.
I'm now ready.
NO. I say Third Eye from that live album.
Neil dela cruz agreed. Third eye is fucking incredible on Salival. Pushit and you lied are killer too.
this is a must
His reaction at that final hook is me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And I've heard this song at least 100 times.
This song gets me EVERY time I listen to it...
I'm a drummer so I automatically feel a connection with Danny's playing, but, just the way Adam's guitar breaks in at 5:05 (of this video) and then "spirals out" .....my consciousness is transformed.
"We're all sitting there, passing the album around..." surrrre, if thats what y'all called it then. We called it "the white burning stick of aroma". THEN we passed the album... 😳
passing something. Like the "soda" lol
that happens to me all the time.. even if i have heard the song 1000 times, theres that one time when you realize how GOOD it actually is, and it just wakes up something in me, and tears start flowing, but im not sad at all, im actually gratefull that i can expirience such music and emotion, and i feel blessed to live in this time of such music
Title Track is just absolutely amazing emotional so powerful This whole album is incredible 💯🔥🚒
I've discovered Maynard with his other band, A Perfect Circle, I was truly amazed by his voice. Then I've heard Parabola and all of the others song ls by Tool, and my mind just blew. I've seen A Perfect Circle live iny country like a few years ago and it was amazing. My wish is to see Tool live too, I would cry tears of joy if I had the chance ❤
I hope to see them if they hit Vancouver, they cancelled due to covid.
Seen Tool 3 times in europe but I've yet to see A Perfect Circle. Or Puscifer. Hoping the day will come.
Update 2021 : Tool is on tour in 2022. They are coming in Paris, and I have my ticket. You have no idea how happy I am. A dream coming true. 🙏🏻
Lucky!
This song hits me everytime!! Glad to have shared the experience with you! SPIRAL OUT!!
Thank you, Dean, for exposing yourself the way you do here. It's speaks volumes about you. TOOL's music is some of the most profound and amazing stuff I've ever heard in my life and I'm thrilled that you, if only temporarily, feel the same way. These guys are truly some of the most amazing musicians and lyricists I've ever come across in my life. A die hard fan for life I am. Thanks again for sharing this.
Thanks and you're welcome!
The song is even better with the first 30 seconds included.
Tears, goosebumps, total mush vibing away on the floor... all appropriate! ❤️
♥️🙏🏼
I feel ya. This band is special. Come to Bonnaroo in June. Join the Army.
I've listened to this band for years and still cry when I listen to them
wow, its more common than i thought
“Feed my will to feel this moment…urging me to cross the line. Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come”
Are you crying? Will always be my fav tool song because it’s the one that got me listening to them. Try the grudge.
Editing it for upload right now. It is amazing.
Yes I was in tears, so moved. This took me by surprise
I can relate to this video so much. I have seen TOOL at beginning of this year, the moment they started playing Vicarious I just stopped headbanging and literally stood in the middle of the mosh pit and just consumed the whole track, ended up crying like a baby and looking like an idiot.
Stinkfist, 46&2, and grudge are my goosebumps songs. Shiveys every time.
That’s interesting, out of all the songs on Lateralus, you go the grudge?
Why not schism or the patient?
Personally my other favourite is ticks and leeches.
@@brettpearson9979 The last 2-3 minutes of the song melts your face
Sevo c; my other other favourite is Reflection. So good and it analyse the sounds with a visual graph representation, it does amazing things.
Im just a little taken back, you think the grudge is more powerful then vicarious, Jambi, invincible, wings pt 1&2, sober or prison sex?
@@brettpearson9979 Its my favorite Tool song simply and uniquely because of the last 2-3 mins. I recognize they have *objectively* better songs but when I close my eyes and blast those last 2-3 mins I think it's honestly the best music I've ever heard. Especially if you watch the drum cover of the song and watch that part you'll have a newfound respect for it. Danny Carey is kind of insane.
Sevo c;
So we tool together.
Did you manage to go a shoe?
Thank you for not .endlessly pausing this epic song !
Most people have to pause reluctantly because their videos can get taken down if they play the entire song uninterrupted. 😔
Yt rules have changed. You dont get in trouble for posting a published song. They just don't let you monetize it. That's why I've started posting a part two video without music and me talking, so I can monetize it.
The connection to the Fibonacci sequence is so intertwined that it goes beyond the lyrics. The entire construction of the song is a work of not just musical genius.
That's me every time in the car listening to this song. When Maynard says to keep going I just keep going and follow my heart and the spiral outwards.
I have heard this song soooooo many times, but listening to it again here and seeing your reaction gave me goosebumps all over again!
Love your video, your reaction, your understanding, your emotions!
You felt everything in that song...
Tool got me through my teens. Undertow, the whole album, is such an emotional ride for me. I recommend clearing some time, putting on your headphones and sitting and absorbing it all in. You may not cry, but it's incredibly raw and real. It's not nearly as clean as this or newer works but you can get a much better sense of their evolution as a band by comparison.
This is the one with the fetuccini sequence right?
Alfredo
I'm stealing this, cheers
The success of using that sequence is what inspired Maynard to make wine that paired with it
Well, 1st time i hear of fetuccini, but in sure ia Fibonacci :)
Lol
Seen them 7 times(would have been 8 if it wasn't for Covid) and they never, ever disappoint. They get it. And if you're a fan of the band, you get it too. TOOL kicks ass. Period.
Fact about lateralus, it's musically and lyrically inspired by the fibinochi sequence. No time to explain, if not familiar, looks it up my friends. If it doesn't blow you out of your head, I owe you a mush trip in the 90s. You provide the time machine.
You don’t listen to Tool, you experience them
FACTS--- mark brown has the knowers knowledge!
I don't know if 2001 is modern but it's timeless nonetheless.
Classic period of progressive rock is from late 60s to early 80s. I stopped listening to much prog around late 90s, so aside from a very small handful of stuff I've missed all the 2000s.
Yes, 2001 is modern... 19 yrs is the blink of an eye.
@@Lateralus138 well that was about 95% of my life ago so that's a long blink for me.
@shadowbot696 a little "hitchhiker" huh?
Gotta say this remains my all time favorite Tool song.
One of the better, more heartfelt reaction videos!
I saw them live last year for the first time and I cried tears of pure ecstasy, joy and cathartic sadness. This band is a phenomenon.
I always look for the 7:21(8:21 in your video) mark in the song to see if people get it, and you, my friend, got it! I don’t know how Justin came up with that bass sound but it’s life changing. The last two minutes of the song are the greatest two minutes of music ever created IMO.
Luke Larsson my guess is he’s using the Whammy pedal by Digitech. Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure it’s the same effect during the “quieter” middle section in Schism
Kevin Reyes Whatever it is, it’s perfect!
Exactly this. And every time.
bit of a hard time of late dean, well all my life really and was having a tool day the other day and i acted exactly the same as you at the end.was hypnotized by the music right through along with maynard's pain then that curtain drawing finale power chord outro just blew my head off.i choked to bits because as far as outro's go that is an off the fucking scale "sorry but here's the end" closer that puts a perfect end to an amazing piece of music.tool really are something else, only one other band that can do that to me time and time again and that's pink floyd and that's also the biggest compliment i could give tool.rambling essay aside loved your reaction and have a good day sir!
rambling is encouraged! Thanks for sharing, really!
Do not be ashamed at all bro Tool is powerful and takes everyone who actually feels the music different places even if you hear the same song more than once. Keep listening to Tool if you want to go on one hell of a journey. This band this in my OPINION my favorite the best ever. Maynard is one hell of a song writer he is also in two more bands beside this all very good as well A Perfect circle and Pusifer. He's amazing but they're all very very talented masters of this craft!!!!
0:36 reminds me of high school 2000-2004 when lateralus came out in 2001 we got today grab pops dropped acid and did bong rips and listened to the album over and over all night for 10 hours tripping balls. Best experience ever In high school
Damn that was me listening to this first time . You really are feeling it brother. Welcome to the tool family 🤘
Tool did it again. Opens your mind and really make you think. Good on you bro
This was a powerful reaction I feel ya brother !!! Love it
I never get tired of watching your reaction to this song. Tool is so incredibly ingenious, refined, beautiful, vigorous and inspiring that it is sometimes almost overwhelming
I really didn’t think I would an enjoy an emotional reaction video, but I connected to your video and to the other people commenting. This was an amazing experience. Great job at taking something awesome and adding to its greatness.
Thanks Sam, glad to share my experience.
👏👏 honest reaction. Speechless and tears❤ Tool just entered your soul. Welcome
I bought this album back when it first released and never stopped listening to it. In fact I had to get every one they have ever made. One of the most amazing bands today. Rush is only group that has a close second.
What an impact.
Beautiful.
Dude, I've heard this song hundreds of times, and every time I listen to it while I'm at home, by myself... it brings me to tears. It's beautiful in every way
Out of body experience every time I hear this song....
Waaayyy better man. Glad to see you listened to suggestions instead of getting down. Some of those commenters were brutal lol..and I'm heading to watch pt 2
Awesome, seems I'm into tool big time now. They are coming to vancouver I think. Will try to see them (I'm on vancouver island)
@@deanwolfechannel their live show is INCREDIBLE 🔥 If you have the opportunity, you will not be disappointed. Glad you're enjoying the band 👏🏻
@@deanwolfechannel you have to go. I saw videos of their live performance and thought "eh, can't be that great"...but once you're there...oh my god. I have never seen or heard anything that amazing in my life. Do not miss it

Thanks
Every member of Tool is a master at their craft. Everything is precise. Maynard is just the icing on the cake.
This is such an amazing reaction man. I really appreciate the vulnerability on display.
Thanks Ben
This masterpiece moves me to tears even after years and 100's of listens
This my favorite Tool track and Im fortunate to have seen them preform it live
Tool did the same thing to me, well I didn’t cry but now I’m reaching out for the random or whatever will bewilder me!!
The power of music is so amazing. Spiral out dude ✌
You responded to my comment on the other Lateralus video and you did a lot of effort to re-react thank you ;)
hey, I'll be uploading a one-Year-later react to Lateralus soon....I avoided it all this time because of the emotional trigger.
yap! been there many times too , specially with this song. not the same reaction the first time i heard it , but when i understood it , it took me places mentally. it blew my mind in my 20's!
Isn't it amazing how these incredibly long songs can bring such an emotional response. I was watching Pneuma video yesterday, one that only showed Danny Carey on drums. I was a little dizzy at the end of the song. I caught myself holding my breath.
found you in my recommendations and honestly i love your content already. - if you didn't know every song on every album is connected in some way or another and i highly recommend giving them a more thorough listen :)
Yup. Hits me like this too.
Really appreciate how you let the song play and felt it without stopping it 90 times like other people.
Great reaction, powerfull tune!
The bass is juuuuuust phenomenal!
“Holy crap!”....sounds about right...😉😄
I feel like this is a universal experience for Tool fans where you hear Tool come on every once and a while growing up and never really think anything special of it. Then one day the right song comes on and it pings your ear and all of the sudden you are being absolutely mesmerized by their work, and you truly listen to their music for the first time. 2 weeks later you've listened to multiple albums track for track. For me it was Lateralus, I wanted to spiral out.
Now people get it what this band means emotionally my bro gets it know xxx
Tool will always be my go to band, I love the way they make me feel when a shit day presents itself!
What about, the grudge, parabola, Descending, Pneuma, Tempest..... they all hit the spot
Just editing and uploading parabol parabola!
There you go! Thanks for re-reaction.
I'm reminded of 15 year old me back in 1996, hearing Tool for the first time, alone in my room. Subbed. :)
Cool!
I feel ya! I get a spiritual vibe from Tool. Glad you felt it too. 👍🏼
The most emotional part for me is the quiet opening part of the bridge where the bass starts in 6/4 then the hit-hat comes in in 5/8 and finally the vocals come in in 4. The way the parts intertwine is so hypnotic. It’s trancelike.
Gotta respect one of these where the person doesn't stop the musical flow with multiple comments and bullshit. I'm 58, I think music pretty much died mid 80's, but Tool indeed has put out some solid tunes. They'll never top Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin but they have secured a spot in my music library. Thanks for truly reviewing the music and letting it flow.
Try Porcupine Tree Live!
I think that the mainstream music system killed the overall music business by the 90s. It is a soulless husk motivated by money ala Americas got talent BS etc. Tool bucked all that, and there are lots of bands operating at ground level I am just now discovering.
