I can never get over your patience and attention to detail, Gary! What a shame your brother didn’t seem to appreciate all your hard work. Very magnanimous of you to accept that it’s his car in the end and whatever he wants to do with it is up to him. But still……it looked so good when you’d finished it and had even sourced the correct steering wheel and carpet. Another great video!
this is sooooo refreshing from some American style resto vlogs, crap rock music, bloated personalities, hyperbole. This was relaxing, engaging and chill. Love it.
I second that even though I would not mind seeing more of the actual work and hear Gary explaining the how and why about it. It happens but is far too rare.
That's brothers for you. Anyway, this was a great watch and I'm glad I stumbled across this channel. I guess at the end of the day this Land Cruiser will last much longer than it would have if you hadn't dug in and brought it back from the brink. I'm sure Lee appreciates it nonetheless even if it doesn't appear that way. Fantastic work by the way, some lovely touches.
Amazing to see it finished, but so disappointing to see it later. Oh well, you are only responsible for your own actions, not anybody else's. Unfortunately, it probably makes you not want to bother for your brother again, but hopefully it won't deter you from helping somebody else some day. Anyway, I am sure that I am not alone in appreciating the amazing work you did.
Brothers, what can you do? Land Cruisers are brilliant vehicles and definitely worth saving. You can certainly see the Willys' Jeep DNA in the Land Cruiser. Great restoration job - looked like a lot of hard work tho'. 👍
just found your channel so going to binge watch! I've had a few of these cruisers over the years and they attract rust! yours was actually not that bad! carry on the great work!!
Great work. Unfortunately some people don’t appreciate what they have, especially a classic vehicle like a Landcruiser. You’re free to fly over here anytime you like to Oz and help me restore my Landcruiser FJ ute. Cheers Jim
getting nippy now keep that rolls warm ha great video cheers sir nice toyota another beautiful job you sure are clever i cant believe you done all that looks new gary wow i tell you what we need more people like you thats learnt a trade to get us the great british people going again your a massive inspiration great mark of a man that is amazing work you do
What a job! You make difficult rust repairs almost look trivial. I had a friend in school that had one of these, in yellow. It had some sort of ugly aftermarket wheels. He was constantly having to fiddle with the underseat heater core. Having ridden around in one of these when it was junk I appreciate your work!
Absolutely brilliant, looks like lee put his own twist back on the Land Cruiser, you did a lovely job on it and I reckon it looks great in grey, really nice to see you driving away from Speke Hall it brings back lovely memories of me growing up in Liverpool( recently moved to Chester) keep up the good work 👌🏻
Wish I had a brother like you? But hey, at the end, it's his car....is'nt it? No arguments about taste, no taste is a taste as well 😉. But, overall a masterpeace!
Gary, you are a dedicated, determined, vehicle magician. You truely love your cars. I was an avid watcher of PP, and now a dedicated watcher of Classic obsession. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes David
Really nice job Gary, a classic rig, worth restoring & you put a lot of everything into that, I wish you were my brother, I dont think I would have changed a thing, good vid. Would love to have your help restoring my ‘79 HJ45 with a tip tray out the back. Cheers from Australia
OMG THAT MUST HAVE BEEN SO HARD FOR YOU TO SEE, THE WAY HE HAD LET IT GO AFTER ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND LOVE YOU PUT IN TO IT, BOY I WISHED I HAD A BROTHER THAT WOULD DO ME WHAT YOU DID FOR YOURS
To my mind made all the worse due to the horrible thumb injury that must have taken weeks to heal. Otherwise such a treat to settle down with Mavers video, especially the Corniche series. I have a carburettor Spirit and love it in its own way, yet a Corniche is something else. Uplifting presence, uplifting work from Guru Gary!
Great job there Gary, similar story with one of my brothers with restorations I sorted for him back in the day…ended up used and abused …hey ho all down to experience
That was a smashing watch Gary. 👍 shame it went back ward's after he received it. I thought the original look is really classy. I bet it was not cheap to get it to that standard either. 👍
Amazing resto. I loved all the little details you added throughout, thar must've taken ages to research in the evenings. Shame your brother didn't have the respect for it, but hey ho. At least you saved it!
I had to laugh….. thank god I ain’t got a brother……🤦🏻♂️….. the wheels I liked but yes overload the steering etc….. new a Australian guy who emigrated here with his family…… wouldn’t leave his Toyota….. so drove it from Aus to England in the mid 70’s….. 4litre petrol as well😵💫. Mind you I had a jeep in worse condition than that (m38-A1) ex Canadian army……seized engine as well……. But they’re like a Meccano single skin sep chassis….. including gashed knuckles😂….. std wheels as well. Absolutely loved it….. thankfully I kept it for me👌🏼👏
I drove dozens of these in the 80s when I worked on seismic crews out in the Gulf. It always makes me laugh when Top Gear and others bang on about how tough the Hi-Lux is, they are kids’ toys next to the Land Cruiser. We never took Hi-luxs into big sand, way too fragile, but Land Cruisers would lap it up.
Hey Gary Lad! Lovely job on this on. Each to their own I guess...... Im with you on the colour, the bull bar and the wheels but I guess not everyone views their vehicles in the same ways as we do or care about them the same way either :-( Looking forward to the next episode as usual - whats on the agend Lad !!?? cheers stew
Before Gary worked his magic... For Sale, one gently used Toyota Landcruiser, one vicar owner, never driven off road. Inquiries to: A. Daley ESQ. 😂 After, Restored by a master restorer, inquiries, reliable motors plc
Loved this bit. “Yeah these wheels are known to chop peoples heads clean off if they come off the car…. Anyway, I popped these babies on and they came up a treat” 😂
You brought it back from the brink, back to its original spec 💯. Your kid obviously thought his mods were better 😂. Thought he would've been into it all original obviously not 😁
Gary, you did a lovely job on a beautiful car. I have one original 68 but I am looking to upgrade the engine - for a 2F or 1FZ-FE. Any advice or thoughts
When they built n designed the Toyota Land Cruiser they honoured the Ford/Willy's Bantam jeep by including the name, J in its naming of FJ. The J is for Jeep.
I think it looked much better back to stock how it was designed to look originally but the main thing is, however good you may think those wide wheels look, they’re dangerous, terrible handling and keep snapping the steering. Regards.
@@classic.obsession Lol that's bad. You did an amazing restoration that's clear but as you said you became emotionally attached to the stock restoration whereas your brother was attached to the blingy jeep in yellow with the bull bars and the oversized wheels! But he really needs to be a bit more appreciative of 4months banging away outside that is real graft. Not sure if the low VOC paint was for the benefit of the neighbours but if so big up yourself you're being as considerate as you can. Great channel and content, subbed.
Bit more than you can shew? Never! There is no car you cant restore perfectly. We have to respect your brothers will, after all its his car,but he ruined a little bit your great job. Cant wait to see the next video of the 600 sl
Specially made in Oz and he throws it away ?!! If I were you I don’t think I would be able to hide my disappointment. Taste is something that cannot be bought
when the LC was a off roader, what happen to the new LC 's? more luxury car ,and also most had a inline I-6 that was built proof easy 200,000 miles ,so its not a muscle car v8 don't alway's need a v8
Good deeds seldom go unpunished. I have bought plane tickets for so called friends who bitched because I didn't take then to the airport. So I stopped helping people.
Well... You must have known what your brother was like.Strange that one of you has such mechanical sympathy and the other has a large dose of mechancial apathy.
That Lee chap seems to be a right Son Of A Gun 🤭
The brother doesn't deserve to own such a refurbished beauty. Shame on him but all the praise goes to you. Again, such great work and passion.
What a bloody shame that your hard work a cracking restoration was ignored. That’s blood for you. A genuine punter would have cherished her.

Let's get Gary some more subs he's a real classic, no bs he tells it how it is👍🏴
Beautiful restoration, nice editing, thanks for sharing
Massive Landcruiser fan. Outrageous it has gone back to that state.

Great job Gary, as allways.
Hope your welder is fixed and your still talking to your brother 💪
Great work and it has to be frustrating revisiting the car and seeing it in that state after all your hard work.

It is amazing what you have accomplished. It is truly a big feat what you have done to this lovely LandCruiser! 🙏👍
Another fantastic episode Gary, what a transformation done in 4 months to this Landcruiser.

Flipping’eck you really do have some great AND varied skills sir!!!
Fantastic restoration, we appreciate it
Compulsive viewing - another fabulous job. Thank you
Amazing work and great video as per usual Gary, very motivating to watch 👋👋
The oil spary system for corrosion protection of the rear drivetrain is genius.

Looked better before to me.
Loved that yellow.

Thats terrible the way its ended up after all that work 🤦♂️🤷🏼♂️
Great video Gary.

The J is for Jeep.
That is tragic, why is he like that? He'd be getting it taken away from him if he was my brother
nice job but the wide wheels looking way better, paint the rims in black, the whole car will looking perfect
I think it looked much better back to stock how it was designed to look originally but the main thing is, however good you may think those wide wheels look, they’re dangerous, terrible handling and keep snapping the steering. Regards.
