Soooooo good, Michelle! Loved hearing the phone-free times you’re working into your day. I’ve done the same with mealtimes and car times being times of presence with who I’m with or with God. It’s been so good for my soul. And I’m looking forward to a week on vacation in the woods this summer where we will intentionally unplug and not check any socials or email… only texts to say “let’s meet up for ice cream after the boat ride.” Ha ha. But that detox week always helps loosen the grip my phone had over me. And encourages me to pick it up with more intention rather than just because I’m bored or can’t handle the silence. Thanks for sharing this!

You've been such an example for me in this area. It's so, so hard to stick with it, but let's keep encouraging one another.

I spent years listening to educational stuff on an earbud. Often, I'd zone out and be distracted, so it was just background noise, which is possibly similar to having a lawn mower in the background: i.e., noise (a stressor), the opposite of peace and quiet. Perhaps consider trying a float tank - just you and your thoughts and feelings. Good message.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's amazing how noises can have such an affect on us. I'm sensitive to sounds, so you absolutely nailed it that things like a lawn mower can be a stressor. A float tank would definitely be a challenge, but I bet it would be cool to try!
